‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ star Andrew Garfield calling Tom Holland the perfect ‘Spider-Man’

THE Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield shares his thoughts on Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s Tom Holland, calling him the perfect star for the role.

Garfield first appeared as the Marvel webslinger in Sony’s rebooted franchise after the Tobey Maguire-led series fell apart during development on a fourth film. The Social Network star would only carry the role through two films before the series was once again rebooted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to low box office returns and mixed critical reception to The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Holland would be the one chosen to bring Spider-Man to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War before going on to lead two-released solo films and making appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

His upcoming third solo film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, sees Peter’s life upended after his secret identity was exposed by Mysterio at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home and turns to Dr. Stephen Strange to utilize a spell to erase everyone’s memory of his identity, only for it to cause a rip in the fabric of time and space.

Parker will be forced to face off against a multitude of villains, including Alfred Molina‘s Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man trilogy and Jamie Foxx‘s Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Garfield recently caught up with The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to discuss his work in the upcoming biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye, during which the conversation shifted to the actor’s rumored appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

After once again dispelling rumors he is in the MCU film, Garfield opened up about his love for Holland’s iteration of the titular hero and his enjoyment from no longer being the gatekeeper to the franchise’s secrets.

See what Garfield said below: “I think that Tom Holland is just the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so I’m just super stoked. I get to just be a fan again, which is my preferred position, to be able to sit in the audience and just kind of go, ‘Yeah, you screwed up, mate, you didn’t do it as well as you could.’ I get to be that guy that’s just like, ‘Yeah, I don’t really love the suit.’ [laughs]”

At this stage in the game, audiences shouldn’t be surprised to hear Garfield continue to shut down rumors of an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it is nice to hear his love for Holland’s portrayal of the character. Though Garfield’s movies weren’t critical darlings like Holland’s, his take on the character received consistent critical praise for the realistic and emotional approach to the character as well as a return to the snarky persona known to the comics.

Since getting his proper due in Spider-Man: Homecoming, audiences have similarly fallen in love with Holland’s portrayal for capturing his awkward teen years and mix of wit and emotions.

Upon being cast in The Amazing Spider-Man, Garfield frequently discussed his love for the comics and desire to remain true to the source material, which makes his humorous comments about being a purist heckler sitting in an audience for Spider-Man: No Way Home all the funnier and understandable.

Though he didn’t specify his feelings on Holland’s suit following the joke, it is interesting to note it comes shortly after the current Spider-Man critiqued Garfield’s portrayal for his use of web shooters that “didn’t really make much sense.” Even if Garfield’s heckles come as a bit of a jab to Holland, his anticipation is just as high as audiences for Spider-Man: No Way Home as it swings into theaters on December 17.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Felt Trapped While Filming ‘The Guilty’

JAKE Gyllenhaal says he felt trapped while filming his latest movie, The Guilty.

Gyllenhaal first collaborated with director Antoine Fuqua for Southpaw, a film about a boxer who loses his wife in an accident, which received largely positive reviews and fared well at the box office with a $94 million gross.

Now, Gyllenhaal is reuniting with Fuqua for a Netflix crime-thriller titled The Guilty, a remake of the 2018 Danish film of the same name.

With a script from Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective), The Guilty finds a police officer named Joe Baylor recently demoted to an emergency call dispatch desk. One fateful night, he receives a call from a kidnapped woman and springs into action to try and save her, all while remaining restrained by his desk job.

The film will play out in real-time and is expected to rarely leave Gyllenhaal’s character at the 911 call center. The film boasts a star-studded cast that also includes Ethan Hawke, Riley Keough, Eli Goree, Paul Dano, Peter Sarsgaard, and Bill Burr, many of them appearing in voice roles only.

Now that The Guilty has had its world premiere at TIFF, Jake Gyllenhaal is opening up about the unique experience he had making the movie. In an interview with The Wrap, the actor says he was trapped in a chair for the majority of production and could only hear other actors deliver their lines through Zoom without ever being able to see them. As filming progressed, Gyllenhaal says he felt like the cameras were closing in on him.

Read how Gyllenhaal described the experience below: It was 20 pages a day shooting 20-30 minute takes. And I thrive in that space, but I was trapped in a chair. Antoine trapped me in a chair. Every time I wanted to move, I’m a very physical person, a very full-bodied actor, and to only be in a chair and having to express ended up doing a number on me as we got farther and farther into the story. Stillness is one thing, but then being trapped is another thing, and it brought out a lot of feelings in me and reveals a lot about this character too.

Considering how his character is confined to a desk throughout the film, it’s easy to imagine how Gyllenhaal began to feel trapped during production, especially since he’s usually such a physical actor. Over the 11 days it took to shoot The Guilty, director Antoine Fuqua could see the other actors on the monitor, but Gyllenhaal could only hear them. This seems to be a smart move by the director as it helped immerse his lead actor in the experience of his character.

The Guilty has gotten two trailers so far, revealing the film’s frantic and claustrophobic energy. This is heavily reminiscent of Tom Hardy’s Locke, as his titular character is the only one ever seen on screen as he holds numerous conversations over the phone, which can be extremely difficult for actors since there are no other performers on set for them to feed off of.

Audiences can see if Gyllenhaal’s performance measures up when The Guilty releases on Netflix on September 24.

ADMISSION SA NAVOTAS HOSPITAL LILIMITAHAN

DAHIL sa kakulangan ng medical staff matapos maapektuhan ng COVID-19, kinailangan limitahan muna ang admission ng mga pasyente sa Navotas City Hospital (NCH) simula September 11 hanggang September 30, 2021.

Kaya naman humihingi ng pang-unawa ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Navotas sa pamumuno ni Mayor Toby Tiangco dahil sa kasalukuyang sitwasyon ng NCH at anumang abalang maidudulot nito.

Ayon sa City Health Department, inisyal check-up lang muna ang kailangan gagawin sa mga bagong pasyenteng dadalhin sa NCH at kung kailangan ilipat ang pasyente sa ibang hospital ay kailangan i-coordinate ito ng NCH sa ibang ospital.

Sa kasaluyan ay level 1 ang status ng NCH kaya limitado ang mga serbisyong maibibigay nito tulad na lamang ng ICU.

Ganunman, sinisikap ng mga medical frontliners na maibigay ang pag-aalagang kailangan ng mga pasyente.

Ani Mayor Tiangco, nakalulungkot isipin na ilang mga kawani ng NCH ang kailangan ma-quarantine o i-isolate matapos maapektuhan ng naturang sakit.

Patuloy naman ang pakiusap ng alkalde sa lahat ng may edad 18 pataas na magpabakuna na upang maiwasan na magkaroon ng malalang kondisyon ng COVID-19.

Daniel Craig’s Final Day As ‘James Bond’ Was A Perfect Ending

DANIEL Craig’s last day as James Bond was a perfect ending to the star’s time in the role.

Because of the repeated delays to No Time to Die’s release date, Craig has remained the active Bond despite having announced his departure from the role after finishing production in 2019. That’s made his actual 007 farewell a little later than anticipated, but he sent the character off perfectly on his last day of shooting for No Time to Die.

When Craig was announced as the new James Bond after Pierce Brosnan’s time leading the franchise, many fans rejected him. His gruffer, edgier style seemed at odds with character’s traditional suave style. Despite all the doubters, Craig debuted with one of the best Bond films to date in Casino Royale, earning high praise and quickly winning over many of those who initially objected to his casting. If No Time to Die ends up being as good as the trailers have made it look, it will be the perfect finale to one of the best eras of 007 to date.

In the new documentary Being James Bond, No Time to Die producer Michael Wilson revealed the final shot Craig ever filmed as 007, and it’s absolutely perfect. Per Wilson, Craig’s last scene on his last day was a shot of him “Running down an alley and disappearing out of shot,” unintentionally signifying the end of his time as the iconic super spy. The producer called the shot “just unbelievable” in its coincidental poignancy – sentiments that were echoed by fellow producer and Bond franchise co-owner Barbara Broccoli.

Craig may have done more for the James Bond franchise than any star since Sean Connery himself, and it’s only fitting that last time playing the character on camera fit so well with his departure from the role.

Over five films in fifteen years, he was instrumental in revitalizing the franchise for the modern era – taking the best bits of past Bonds and blending them with a tone and charisma that was unmistakably modern. Like any 007, not all of Craig’s films were winners, but he delivered two all-time greats in Casino Royale and Skyfall.

It’s currently unclear where the world of James Bond will go in Craig’s absence. The conversation surrounding his replacement has heated up again as No Time to Die approaches release, but no matter who takes his place, they’ll never be able to do what he’s done the way he’s done it. The next 007 star may be astonishing their own way, but there will never be another James Bond like Daniel Craig’s.
