Posted on: September 17th, 2021 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

BACK to work na muli si Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha, as one of the Panel Judges ng original GMA musical competition na The Clash na nasa fourth season na.

The Clash 4 with Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista at Comedy Queen Aiai delas Alas.

Posted on: September 17th, 2021 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

I would like to thank GMA for taking a chance on this unknown dreamer; for believing in me and supporting me all these years. I have utmost respect and gratitude to the network that has given me my roots and a heart full of memories.

“Thank you for planting my dreams. Thank you for giving it time, love and effort to water it.

“Punong puno ng pagmamahal

at pasasalamat ,

“Lovi Poe”

Ayon kay Kris, “The wedding preps will continue mapa-anong lockdown pa! Few more days before the wedding!! Are you excited? Though the wedding date is heavily dependent on the COVID-19 restriction announcement of IATF tomorrow! Again, there’s a possibility of moving it again. I’m hoping and praying na mag-open ang church as it’s really a dream of mine to walk down the aisle!”

Every peso counts.”

Panelo, binanatan ang Senado sa pagdaraos ng ‘question hour’, at hindi imbestigasyon ‘in aid of legislation’

Posted on: September 17th, 2021 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

BINANSAGAN ni Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo ang Senate hearings ukol sa di umano’y korapsyon sa pamahalaan sa gitna ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic bilang “question hour” at hindi true-blue investigation “in aid of legislation”.

Ginamit ni Panelo ang posisyon ng Korte Suprema na “takes judicial cognizance of the fact that the right of Congress to conduct inquiries in aid of legislation is susceptible to abuse”.

“For one, the inquiry itself might not properly be in aid of legislation and just be a veiled usurpation of judicial functions — similar to what is happening now,” ayon kay Panelo na ang tinutukoy ay ang Senate hearings.

Aniya, “SC had established in the Senate vs. Ermita case that a question hour under Section 22, Article VI of the 1987 Constitution is different from inquiries in aid of legislation under Section 21.”

“The former does not empower the Senate to resort to compulsory processes and compel the attendance of department heads belonging to the executive branch,” binigyang diin ni Panelo.

“What the Senate is performing now is, at most, its authority under Section 22 on question hour as we note that no new legislation is being contemplated by its members. Hence, it may not compel department heads to attend its hearings nor cite them in contempt if they refuse to participate,” paliwanag nito.

“This was actually the ruling in Senate vs. Ermita where the Supreme Court upheld as valid the provisions in EO (Executive Order) 464 requiring department heads to secure the consent of the President prior to appearing before the Congress in relation to Section 22 on question hour,” ayon kay Panelo, tinukoy nito ang ginawang pagpapalabas ni dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

“If, by any chance, the Senate is able to convert its hearings to one that is in aid of legislation, then the President’s directive still stands as invitations may be assessed on a case-to-case basis to determine if executive privilege may be invoked.” anito.

“In sum, it behooves Congress (House of Representatives and Senate) to keep itself in check in its ostensible conduct of official business, lest it transgress the limits prescribed by the Constitution,” konklusyon ni Panelo.

(Daris Jose)

Nicolas Cage says he is never going to retire from acting

Posted on: September 17th, 2021 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

ONE of the most recognized actors of his time, Nicolas Cage’s formidable career has spanned three decades with roles in iconic films, including Adaptation, National Treasure, Face/Off, and Leaving Las Vegas – the film that snagged him an Oscar win.

Noted for his eccentric personality, Cage has developed a reputation for his extreme method acting. Occasions of Cage plunging into experiences to relate to his onscreen characters have included adopting a steak-only diet for months, removing teeth without anesthesia, and snorting saccharin to embrace the mindset of a drug addict.

The Con Air star’s quirky style of perfecting his craft has also translated to his personal life. Recently, Cage’s compelling performance in the thriller drama, Pig, has been hailed as one of the actor’s best of his career and seems to have broken his bad movie streak. Now, Cage reveals how long he plans on staying in show business.

In his interview with EW, the actor reveals that he never plans to retire. Promoting his new film, Prisoners of the Ghostland, Cage declared that he’s healthier and more positive when he’s working on a role and that he plans on being in the industry for the rest of his life.

Citing that his list of credits is up to 117 films, Cage said he never thought of himself as working too much. However, Cage admitted he would like to take some time off soon so he can recharge.

Cage said when retirement was mentioned, “No, no, no. No, no. That can’t happen. To do what I do in cinema has been like a guardian angel for me, and I need it. I’m healthier when I’m working, I need a positive place to express my life experience, and filmmaking has given me that. So I’m never going to retire. Where are we now, 117 movies? What’s funny is, my argument with people who go, ‘You work too much,’ was ‘I like working, and it’s healthy, I’m happy when I’m working, and by the way, guys like Cagney and Bogart, they were doing hundreds of movies.’ And then I went, ‘I’d better check that,’ and I went, ‘Oops…’

Indeed, Cage and his career show no sign of slowing down. Slated to star in his first Western film, The Old Way, Cage continues to scope out roles in independent films, after admitting that he fears the Hollywood scene. Of course, Cage will soon unveil a new range of creative freedom with the premise of his upcoming meta-drama film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which stars Cage as himself.

Considered a legend in the industry, Cage has certainly made a string of films that have flopped, but the actor is a staple in the entertainment world and has a long career ahead of him.

Cage’s career continued to have highs and lows, but there is no denying the actor is constantly looking for his next mark. No doubt, the actor continuously surprises his audience and appears to have a surplus of real-life experiences to incorporate into his characters.

While it remains to be seen how many films Nicolas Cage will stock on his roster, it would be fitting for him to be honored in the future as the actor who never retired.

ICC, walang hurisdiksyon sa PInas- Panelo

Posted on: September 17th, 2021 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Nilalabag nila ang ating karapatan, that’s interference into our domestic affairs,” ayon kay Sec. Panelo.

Aniya pa, hindi naman mapipilit ng Rome Statute ang PIlipinas dahil ” it was not published in the Philippine government publication.”

“Yang Rome Statute, ever since that is not enforceable because from the very beginning hindi yan lumabas sa Official Gazette. And our civil law requires public case on the penal law or any law on the Official Gazette bago ito ipatutupad.

Posted on: September 17th, 2021 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Similarities in the modus operandi are also discernible,” ani ICC chamber.” “For this reason, the Chamber considers, at the present stage, and to the required standard, that there are similarities between the killings in the Davao area in 2011-2016 and the so-called ‘war on drugs’ campaign which merit further investigation.”

US, Australia at UK sanib puwersa na

Posted on: September 17th, 2021 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Today we join our nations in the next-generation partnership, built on a strong foundation of proven trust. We have always seen the world through a similar lens. We have always believed in a world that favours freedom, that respects human dignity – the rule of law, the independence of sovereign states and the peaceful fellowship of nations,” ani Morrison.

“It will draw on the expertise that the UK has acquired over generations, dating back to the launch of the Royal Navy’s first nuclear submarine over 60 years ago; and together, with the other opportunities from AUKUS, creating hundreds of highly skilled jobs across the United Kingdom, including in Scotland, the north of England, and the Midlands, taking forward this government’s driving purpose of leveling up across the whole country,” ani Johnson. “This will be one of the most complex and technically demanding projects in the world, lasting decades and requiring the most advanced technology.”

“Although Australia, the UK, and U.S. partnership — AUKUS — it sounds strange with all these acronyms, but it’s a good one, AUKUS — our nations will update and enhance our shared ability to take on the threats of the 21st century just as we did in the 20th century: together,” wika naman ni Biden. “We’re taking another historic step to deepen and formalize cooperation among all three of our nations because we all recognize the imperative of ensuring peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific over the long-term.”
