Michele, kinumpara kay Pia na tatlong beses natalo pero nanahimik lang

SIMULA na ng mga sleepless night ng actress na si Ryza Cenon dahil sa kanyang bagong silang na anak, ang kanyang panganay na anak at baby boy na si “Night.”

Ipinanganak nga ni Ryza ang baby nila ng kanyang live-in partner na si Miguel Cruz noong madaling-araw ng October 31 at 13 oras siyang nag-labor.

Kahit sobrang hirap at sakit daw, kinaya ni Ryza na mailuwal ang anak sa pamamagitan ng normal delivery. At noong Monday nga ay nakauwi na silang mag- ina sa kanilang bahay.

Nakausap namin si Ryza at understandable naman ang pagod na nararamdaman nito sa panganganak. Labing-tatlong oras ka ba naman na mag-labor. Pero sey niya, worth it naman daw lahat. Napawi raw ang naramdaman niyang sakit at pagod sa unang pagkakita pa lang sa baby niya. Naiyak daw siya sa kaligayahan.

“Night” ang pinangalan nila o palayaw ng baby dahil pareho raw sila ni Miguel na pinaka-favorite time of the day ang gabi. At mukhang katulad nila, ang baby niya ay mukhang paborito rin ang night time dahil gising daw ito sa gabi kaya ayon dito, wala pa talaga siyang tulog.

Medyo hirap pang maglabas ng breastmilk si Ryza, pero to the rescue ang kaibigan niyang si Chariz Solomon na nanganak din kamakailan lang at nag-share ito ng breastmilk sa kanya.

BINASAG na ni Michele Gumabao, ang Miss Quezon City at 2nd runner-up sa nakaraang Miss Universe-Philippines ang kanyang pananahimik. Pero, yun lang, tingin namin ay wala pa rin naman itong ni-reveal.

Sa pamamagitan ng kanyang vlog, emosyunal nitong nilahad ang kanyang statement na, “I heard things that I wasn’t supposed to hear.”

Ang dahilan kung bakit wala siya sa photo-op at kung bakit pinili niya raw na mauna nang bumalik ng Manila from Baguio.

P6.622B PONDO INIHANDA NG GOBYERNO

TINIYAK ng pamahalaan na mayroong available funds para sa ginagawang pagtugon at relief efforts para sa mga apektado ng Super Typhoon Rolly.

“Gaya ng sinabi ni [Budget] Secretary [Wendel] Avisado kahapon, meron tayong P3.622 billion available na pondo sa NRRMC (National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council),” ayon kay presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

Sa isinagawang high-level meeting kasama si Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Lunes ng gabi ay ipinaliwanag ni Sec. Avisado na ang P3.622 billion, ay ang natirang National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (NDRRMF) na nadagdagan ng P5 billion sa ilalim ng Bayanihan to Recover as One Act o Bayanihan 2.

Sinabi ni Sec. Avisado na ang NDRRMF ay may orihinal na P16 bilyon, “at nagamit na po ‘yung iba diyan kaya nag-augment tayo.”

Para sa local governments na apektado ng bagyo subalit nagamit na ang lahat ng kanilang calamity funds dahil sa COVID- 19—sinabi ni Sec. Roque na dahil hindi sila makapag- request ng karagdagang pondo direkta mula sa DBM, ang LGUs ay maaaring mag-request ng karagdahang pondo mula sa line agencies.

‘Yung mga lokal na pamahalaan bagamat hindi pwede na directly ma-replenish ng national government ‘yung kanilang naubos na calamity funds, pupwede silang humingi ng augmentation sa mga national agencies na meron pong quick response funds kagaya ng OCD (Office of Civil Defense), DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), DOH (Department of Health), at DA (Department of Agriculture),” ang pahayag ni Sec. Roque.

Maliban sa apat na ahensya, maaari ring humingi ang LGUs ng calamity fund replenishment mula sa Department of Public Works and Highways, Depart- ment of Education, at National Electrification Administration.

Sa ilalim ng General Appropriations Act, may ilang departamento ang nabigyan ng Quick Response Fund (QRF).

Ito ay ang Department of Agriculture, P1.5 bilyon; Department of Education, P2.1 bilyon; Department of Health, P600 milyon; Department of Public Works and Highways, P1 bilyon; Department of Social Welfare and Development, P1.25 bilyon; at National Electrification Adminis- tration, P100 milyon.

“The DBM replenishes its QRFs whenever these are depleted to ensure that those departments can adequately respond to disasters,” ayon kay Sec. Avisado.

Sa ngayon aniya ay wala pa namang departmento ang humihingi ng karagdagang pera subalit sinabi ni Sec. Avisado na inaasahan na ng DBM na may magre- requests kasunod ng kamakailan lamang na kalamidad na tumama sa bansa.

Nakita rin ng DBM ang malaking requirements bilang resulta ng Super Typhoon Rolly at plano nitong makipag- ugnayan sa Kongreso para sa kung paano magbibigay ng additional allocation.

“Ang importante lang kasi dito, Wendel, na malaman ng tao na may pera para dito ngayon kunwari itong pangyayari ngayon — that there is money coming for them to use. Hindi sila maghirap na talagang stretching to the limit ‘yung not only the money but the agony ang pag-ano nila,” ang pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte.

“So kung alam lang nila na may pera tapos nagastos ito nang tama at dumating ito sa mga beneficiaries, iyon lang naman ang kailangan nila. They know that there is money,” dagdag na pahayag nito. (Daris Jose)

‘DAANG DOKYU’ CLOSES WITH 6 FILMS FOR THE SECTION CALLED ‘FUTURE’

IMAGINE behind-the-scenes footage from the sets of Lav Diaz, Erik Matti, Dan Villegas, and Dodo Dayao repurposed into an uncanny narrative summoning present-day milieus involving police, prisoners, and fascism.

That’s John Torres’ We Still Have to Close Our Eyes (2019), which will have its Philippine debut at Daang Dokyu on October 30, 2020. The film depicts actors as human avatars controlled by apps in scenes that are both familiar and unfamiliar, both real and fictional.

It will highlight “Future: Ganito Tayo Ngayon, Paano Sila Bukas,” the last program of the film festival, which is slated from October 30 to November 5, 2020.

Aside from We Still Have to Close Our Eyes, the other films in the program are Kiri Dalena’s Alunsina (2020), which had its premiere at Daang Dokyu’s opening program; Jet Leyco’s For My Alien Friend (2019); Manuel Mesina III’s Beastmode: A Social Experiment (2018); Tad Ermitaño’s Retrochronological Transfer of Information (1994); and a 48-hour rerun of Aswang by Alyx Arumpac.

To close the festival program, we put together six films under this section called “Future”. These documentaries demonstrate both the new and the classical. On one hand, they present documentary as a form that is evolving in multiple directions, antiquating notions that separate fiction and non-fiction, unafraid of new technologies that break the dearly kept singularities of cinema and television and proposing new languages and ways of seeing. At the same time, these films and their filmmakers, true to the classical documentary, are concerned with ethics, firm in seeking and speaking the truth, and troubled in their evocation of the zeitgeist. These are films that are hard to unsee because they represent both what is to come and what insists on staying the same—whether in documentary or in our lives.” says Jewel Maranan, one of the festival directors.

In Alunsina, Dalena explores both the potentials and limits of engagement within a community that is facing trauma. Working closely with human rights organizations, she finds herself documenting the struggles of children and families in an urban settlement severely affected by the government’s war against drugs an ideology that has led to thousands of extrajudicial killings of suspected drug users, and has left hundreds of children whose parents died as victims. Here, she engages with another family whose child has resorted to drawing pictures to cope with such tragedy and again confront the complexities in communicating the violence they’ve witnessed.

Dubbed as a “documentary of brief encounters”, For My Alien Friend is a philosophical musing on the nature of being. Leyco uses footage from the mundane to create an honest depiction of humanity, using an imaginary alien friend as a filmic device that serves as the driving force of the narrative.

Beastmode is a social media experiment involving the altercation of two Filipino celebrities that goes viral and exposes the festering wound of Filipino institutions and society — from media and social media to entertainment, business, and politics.

Retrochronological Transfer of Information is inspired by the works of physicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar and philosopher Enryo Inoue, this 16mm film documents the experiments of a modern-day scientist who attempts to communicate with Jose P. Rizal, the Philip- pine National Hero who was executed by the Spanish in 1896.

Aswang follows people whose fates entwine with the growing violence during the first two years of extrajudicial killings in Manila.

“It’s been a great six weeks. We are overwhelmed and grateful for the response of people from all walks of life who, from their screens and homes, shared in a collective discovery of Philippine documentaries. Even during this time of crisis, they allowed their minds to wander with us in time and in diverse territories of the Filipino story depicted in the curated programs of Daang Dokyu. We hope they found the films close to home and, at the same time, allowed them to expand what they know of home” adds Jewel Maranan.

Aside from the film screenings, Daang Dokyu explores the future of documentaries further in a talkback entitled “Reality Check: Ganito Tayo Ngayon, Paano Sila Bukas?”

The talkback will focus on the impact of the internet, social media, and digital technology on the direction of filmmaking, as well as on democracy and the future of our society in the current climate of disinformation and imbalance.

The panel, which will include John Torres, Jet Leyco, and Manuel Mesina III, will be moderated by artist Mae Paner. Digital rights advocate, Philippine Internet Freedom Alliance, Foundation for Media Alternatives Nica Dumlao, and musician and social activist Kakie Pangilinan will also join the panel.

Sa kabuuan ay mayroong apat na laro na isasagawa hanggan sa pagtatapos ng eliminations sa Nobyembre 11.

PDu30, inabsuwelto si Customs Chief Rey Guerrero mula sa talamak na katiwalian sa BOC

INABSUWELTO ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte si Bureau of Customs Chief Reynaldo Guerrero mula sa katiwalian sa ahensiya.

Sa katunayan ay nananatili ang tiwala ng Pangulo kay Guerrero sa kabila nang nagpapatuloy na talamak na korupsiyon sa ahensiya.

Giit ng Pangulo ay hindi kasama rito si “Jagger” na ang tinutukoy ay si Commissisoner Guerrero.

Binigyang diin ng Chief Executive na kuntento siya sa trabaho ni Guerrero sa Customs at maganda naman ang ipinapakita nito. Aniya, marami ng sinibak sa puwesto si Guerrero sa BOC dahil sa katiwalian.

“Well, I am not — I am excluding Jagger. Kaya ko iniligay siya diyan eh. He is working well. Marami na siyang napaalis,” ayon sa Pangulo

Sa public address ng Pangulo ay inihayag nitong 20 ang nadismiss sa BOC habang nasa 1 daan at 35 ang under investigation at 45 ang naasunto na ng kasong administratibo na sabi naman ng Presidente ay dapat ding makasuhan ng kasong criminal.

“Sa… Hindi ko na lang basahin. Sa Customs, 20 na ang dismissed talaga. Apat ang suspendido, kaya siguro iniimbestiga pa. Four, reprimanded lang, 135 investigated by the BOC-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service. So iniimbestigahan pa. 22 Navoteños tumanggap ng bike at cellphone mula sa DOLE

NAKATANGGAP ang 22 mga Navoteños mula sa informal work sector ng libreng bisikleta at Android mobile phones mula sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Ito ay proyekto sa ilalim ng Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program o FreeBis (Bisekletang Pangnapbuhay) ng DOLE.

Pinangunahan ang turnover ng mga bisikletra at cellphone nina Navotas Congressman John Rey Tiangco at DOLE CAMANAVA Director Rowella Grande.

Ayon kay Cong JRT, maaaring gamitin ang mga ito ng mga benepisyaryo para makatulong sa kanilang online o loading business.

Ang FreeBis bikes ay kumpleto na sa mga gamit kasama ang helmet, raincoat, vest, water bottle, at thermal bag. Nakatanggap din ang mga benepisyaryo ng android mobile phone na may P5,000 load.

Kaugnay nito, sampung frontliners naman na naglilingkod sa Navotas City Hospital at City Health Office ang napaghandugan ng bike ni Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco.

“Ito ay bilang pagbibigay- pugay sa kanilang pagsasakripisyo at pagsisilbi sa atin sa kabila ng panganib at hirap na dulot ng COVID-19. Lubos po tayong nagpapasalamat sa kanila at dasal natin na parati silang ligtas sa anumang sakuna”, ani Mayor Tiangco. (Richard Mesa)

AFP PUSPUSAN ANG GINAGAWANG DISASTER RELIEF OPS AT DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

PUSPUSAN ngayon ang isinasagawang search, rescue and retrieval and clearing operations ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa mga lugar na lubhang sinalanta ng Bagyong Rolly.

Ongoing na rin ngayon ang isinasagawang relief distribution ng militar kasama ang DSWD.

Ayon kay AFP Chief of staff Gen. Gilbert Gapay, nakatutok ang lahat mga ground commanders sa humanitarian, disaster and relief operations.

Subalit naka-alerto rin laban sa mga rebeldeng grupo na samantalahin ang isinagawang humanitarian and disaster mission.

Aniya, may pwersa ring naka pokus para i mantene ang peace and order lalo na duon sa mga lugar na may mga komunistang rebelde ang nag-ooperate.

Kahapon nagsagawa ng aerial inspection ang militar sa Catanduanes at sa airport nito para makita ang pinsala na dulot ng hagupit ng Bagyong Rolly.

Nagsagawa naman ng relief operations ang 51st Engineering Brigade ng Phil Army sa Baao, Camarines Sur kung saan namahagi itong ng food packs sa komunidad.

Nanguna din sa road clearing operations ang mga tropa ng 31st Infantry Battalion sa Sorsogon.

Tumulong din ang mga ito sa repacking at pamamahagi ng relief goods sa mga kababayan nating biktima ng Supertyphoon Rolly.

Ang Naval Intelligence and Security Group Southern Luzon at ang Philippine Navy Islander ay nagsagawa naman ng damage assessment mission sa Catanduanes area.

Ang Navy Islander NV312 sa pangunguna ng Pilot In Command, Lt. Cdr. Mark Licos, lumipad sa coastal arwas San Andres at Virac City para i-assess ang pinsala sa lugar na dulot ng Bagyong Rolly. (Ara Romero)

NAGPAPAGALING na ngayon si world number two tennis star Simona Halep matapos dapuan ng coronavirus.

Ayon sa 29-anyos na Romanian tennis star na nagkaroon lamang siya ng mild symptoms.

Tiniyak nito sa kaniyang mga fans na masigla ang kaniyang kalusugan at agad na magbabalik sa laro kapag ito ay tuluyang gumaling na.

Magugunitang pinili nito na huwag sumali sa US Open sa New York dahil sa pangamba sa coronavirus.

Nagwagi si Halep sa French Open 2018 at siya ang kasalukuyang Wimbledon champion.

Dagdag pa nito na tapos na ang paglalaro niya ng tennis ngayong taon matapos ang pagkatalo niya sa French Open.

MAY pakiusap ni 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach sa publiko tungkol sa bangayang nangyayari ngayon sa kapatid niyang si Sarah Wurtzbach- Manze at inang si Gng. Cheryl Alonso-Tyndall.

Ayon kay Pia, “I’m sure a lot of you know that my family is going through some issues at the moment and most of it is posted online. This is a very hurtful time for our family. My sister, especially, had a very traumatic expe- rience and I humbly ask everyone to be kind to her.

“We are trying to resolve our family issues privately and I ask for your support by not trying to put the blame on anyone and stop victim shaming.”

Ilang araw na kasing pinagpiye- piyestahan sa social media ang gusot ng mag-inang Sarah at Cheryl na sinimulan ng una dahil base sa intindi namin ay dumaranas ito ng anxiety at gusto niyang ilabas ang lahat ng pinanggagalingan nito.

Pero hindi sukat akalain ng mga nakabasa na damay ang ina at itinurong dahilan kung bakit nakararamdaman ng ganito si Sarah.

Nitong Lunes ng gabi ay hindi na kinaya pa ng dating beauty queen ang mga nababasang komento tungkol sa kapatid at ina sa social media kaya nakiusap siya na tigilan na ang victim shaming.

Nag-post si Pia ng larawan nilang pamilya kasama si Sarah, Cheryl at ang dalawang pamangkin na sina Lara at Logan.

Hiling din niya sa publiko na huwag husgahan ang kapatid dahil may pinagdadaanan ito.

Sharon, nanggulat sa IG post na naka-bathing suit

MARAMING natuwa na mga fans ni Megastar Sharon Cuneta, sa panggugulat niya last Monday, November 2, sa kanyang Instagram post na naka-bathing suit kasama ang mga anak na sina Frankie at Miel Pangilinan.

Bago siya nag-post nito, nagpakita muna si Sharon na nagti-thread mill siya dahil gusto raw niyang pumayat, bumili raw kasi siya ng mga bagong dress at kailangang magkasya siya roon.

Caption ni Sharon: (seems like these were forever ago…) O ayan na. Kahit di pa payat, pumapayat naman. Isipin nyo na lang ito: “Maputi sya (pwera ankles to feet ko kasi yun lang nasisikatan ng araw!) Makinis, at kahit pawisan buong maghapon magdamag kahit walang pabango, mabango siya talaga! Eh, totoo naman. Sabi ko nga, may bagyo naman, so gulatin ko kayo.

NATUWA ang mga fans ni Kapuso Action Drama Prince Ruru Madrid nang mapanood nila last Sunday, nang mag-perform siya sa All-Out Sundays na new look na siya, maikli na ang buhok kaysa dating quarantine look niya na laging nakasabog sa face niya.

Positive naman ang feed-back mula sa mga netizens at inihambing pa siya sa mga Korean ‘oppa’ or mga Korean celebrities.

Ginawa na ito ni Ruru bilang paghahanda para sa upcoming GMA Pulic Affairs series niya sa Lolong. Excited si Ruru dahil balik- aksiyon siya rito at dalawang magagandang leadin ladies ang makakasama niya, sin Arra San Agustin at Shaira Diaz.

Happy si Ruru na muling makatambal si Arra dahil nagkasama na sila sa Encantadia noong bago pa lamang sila pareho sa showbiz. Si Ruru sa katatapos lamang noon sa Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break. At si Arra naman ay graduate noon ng StarStruck 6.

Pareho namang na-excite sina Arra at Shaira nang malaman nilang mag- aaksiyon din sila sa Lolong. Sa ngayon ay kasalukuyan na silang naghahanda para sa lock-in taping.
