TINULIGSA ni Bantay Budget convenor at Makabayan president Liza Maza ang miyembro ng Kamara sa kabiguan nitong mapanagot si Vice President Sara Duterte kasabay ng pagtalakay sa budget ng Office of the Vice President ng House Committee on Appropriations.
“Nakakahiya ang karamihan ng mga miyembro ng Kamara na parang mga tuta na hindi nagtanong sa mga mahalagang isyu. Kung hindi dahil sa Makabayan bloc nina Rep. Tinio at Rep. Co walang magtatatanong kay VP Duterte tungkol sa nawalang P125 million confidential funds. We assail both members of the majority and minority who were silent during the proceedings and did not raise the issues that were flagged in past committee hearings,” ani Maza.
Sinabi ng dating mambabatas na tanging ang Makabayan bloc, na binubuo nina ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio at Kabataan Party-list Rep. Atty. Renee Louise Co ang nagtanong ng VP ukol sa ilang kritikal na isyu kabilang na ang P125 million confidential funds na nananatiling hindi naipaliwanag at ilang biyahe nito sa ibang bansa.
“VP Duterte even used the archived impeachment case against her to evade answering legitimate questions,” pahayag ni Maza.
Sinabi ni Maza na parte ng tungkulin ng Kamara ay busisiin ang paggastos ng gobyerno at hindi protektahan ang ang opisyal mula sa lehitimong pagtatanong.
“The people deserve answers on how their tax money is being spent,” pahayag pa ni Maza.
Solong dumalo si Vice President Sara Duterte sa pagdinig ng Appropriations Committee kaugnay sa hinihinging P902.8 million budget ng Office of the Vice President para sa 2026.
