DBM, maghahanap ng paraan para pondohan ang P1,000 monthly pension para sa mga indigent seniors
MAGHAHANAP at gagawa ng paraan ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) para mapondohan ang tumaas na monthly social pension ng indigent senior citizens.
Mula kasi sa P500 ay P1,000 na ang matatanggap ng mga ito.
Ito’y sa kabila ng nasa ” tight fiscal position” ang gobyerno.
“To be honest, we are in a very tight fiscal position due to muted revenue caused by the pandemic. Ibig sabihin po niyan kakaunti na lang ‘yung ating legroom para sa pag-accommodate ng mga bagong proyekto,” ayon kay DBM Undersecretary Goddes Hope Libiran.
Makikita sa data mula sa Bureau of the Treasury na ang fiscal performance ng pamahalaan sa buwan ng Hunyo ay ” deficit of P215.5 billion, wider by 43.81% year-on-year, as state spending exceeded revenues during the period.”
At dahil ang batas ay isa ng ganap na batas, kaagad na ipinag-utos ni Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman sa ahensiya na maghanap ng pondo para sa programa.
Sa ilalim ng Republic Act 11916, “private entities that will have senior citizens as employees shall be entitled to an additional deduction from their gross income, equivalent to 15% of the total amount paid as salaries and wages to senior citizens subject to the provision of Section 34 of the National Internal Revenue Code as amended.”
“DBM will find the way to fund this program,” ayon kay Libiran.
“Buo naman po ang suporta ng DBM sa mga ganitong klase ng proyekto lalo na po kung ang layunin nito ay makatulong sa mga nangangailangan,” aniya pa rin
“Based on consultations with senior budget officials, the increased social pension for the elderly program can be funded through the miscellaneous personnel benefits fund (MPBF), pension gratuity fund, or unprogrammed funds, ang dagdag na pahayag ni Libiran sabay sabing “Ire-recompute ang mga budget on that at kapag may excess, then we can realign that at ilagay sa budget ng DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) para doon sa programa.”
Samantala, binigyan naman ng batas ng mandato ang DSWD, bilang implementing agency, na rebyuhin at kung kinakailangan ay i-adjust ang halaga ng social pension kada dalawang taon matapos na maging epektibo ang batas “subject to the approval of the DBM and in consultation with other stakeholders.”
Sinabi pa ni Libiran na hihintayin ng DBM ang “implementing rules and regulations” ng batas na gagawin ng National Commission of Senior Citizens na may konsultasyon sa DBM at DSWD at maging ang validated list ng mga benepisaryo upang makapaglaan ng pondo ang departmento sa programa. (Daris Jose)
PSA, minomonitor ang ‘shrinking products’ kaugnay sa inflation
SINUSUBAYBAYAN ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) kung paano maaaring makaapekto ang tumataas na inflation sa laki o kalidad ng mga produkto upang mapanatiling pareho ang mga presyo o ang konsepto na tinatawag na “shrinkflation.”
Inihayag ni PSA chief and National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa na makikita ang konsepto ng shrinkflation sa mga restaurants at cafeterias.
Ang Shrinkflation ay tinukoy bilang ang pagsasanay ng mga negosyo sa pagbabawas ng kanilang produkto habang ang presyo ay nananatiling pareho sa gitna ng pagtaas ng mga gastos sa produksyon.
Sinabi ni Mapa na “inutusan na niya ang kanilang mga data collector na tingnan kung naobserbahan nila ang pagbawas sa dami ng nilutong pagkain sa mga restaurant at cafe”.
Aniya, sa ngayon ay wala pang report na may substantial concern dito.
Nauna nang lumabas ang report na maraming mga panadero ang niliitan ang size ng pandesal dahil sa inflation.
Depensa naman ni Lucito Chavez, presidente ng Philippine Federation of Bakers, libu-libong mga gumagawa ng tinapay ang naaakit sa mas mataas na halaga para sa mga raw materials, na karamihan ay imported.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Expected to Surpass Titanic’s Domestic Box Office Record
TOP Gun: Maverick is likely to become the seventh biggest film ever at the domestic box office, a record currently held by Titanic.
Top Gun: Maverick premiered this May and has been screening in theaters ever since. It’s the sequel to the original Top Gun (1986), also starring Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer, with Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, and Glen Powell joining them in Top Gun: Maverick cast. The movie follows Maverick (Cruise) as he trains a group of TOPGUN Navy fighter pilots.
Top Gun: Maverick has been doing extremely well at the box office, breaking many records. On June 17, Top Gun: Maverick became Cruise’s highest-grossing movie of his entire career, and on June 26, the movie officially crossed the $1 billion mark for combined domestic and international box office numbers.
Many fans and critics have praised the movie for being even better than the original, while some have critiqued it for being nothing more than tired, cookie-cutter U.S. military propaganda. Regardless, its massive box office numbers speak to just how popular this movie has been and continues to be.
According to Variety, Top Gun: Maverick is set to break another record: the domestic box office’s seventh biggest movie ever. As of today, Top Gun: Maverick has grossed over $657 million, while Titanic has grossed over $659 million.
And as Top Gun: Maverick is currently in theaters while Titanic is not, the $2 million gap between the two movies is almost certain to close soon. Of the top ten movies on the All-Time Domestic Box Office list, Titanic is the only one left that was not released in the 21st century. It’s also one of the few on the list not released as a sequel or part of a larger universe like the MCU.
As many movie lovers have expressed frustration that few truly original movies are being greenlit by Hollywood executives, it’s interesting to see how movies like Top Gun: Maverick, which are based on existing IP, are doing extremely well numbers-wise, often surpassing their originals. For example, Top Gun: Maverick has far exceeded its original in terms of box office numbers; the original has only grossed $180 million at the domestic box office, only a third of its sequel.Titanic isn’t guaranteed to permanently relinquish its spot to Top Gun: Maverick, though.
For its 25th anniversary, a remastered version of Titanic will be hitting theaters, likely in early 2023. Depending on how popular that ends up being, there’s a chance that Titanic will be able to climb the ranks of the All-Time Domestic Box Office list again. Top Gun: Maverick is slowly losing its box office dominance, as it looks like it may exit the domestic box office’s top five movies for the first time ever this week. (source: screenrant.com)

Jimuel Pacquiao ‘wagi sa pinakabagong amateur fight sa California
NAGTALA nang panibagong panalo ang anak ni dating Sen. Manny Pacquiao na si Jimuel Pacquiao matapos na talunin via decision si Dylan Merriken sa laban na ginanap sa Quiet Cannon Conference and Event Center sa Montebello, California nitong araw ng Biyernes.
Ang panalo ng 21-anyos na si Pacquiao sa three-round bout ay bilang pagbangon sa kanyang unang career loss noong nakalipas na buwan ng Hunyo laban sa American na si Chris Smith.
Sa ngayon hawak na ni Jimuel ang 4-1 win-loss record.
Personal namang nanood sa ringside sa laban ng panganay ng boxing legend ang ina na si Jinkee at ang mga kapatid na sina Mary Divine Grace at Queen Elizabeth at ang MP Promotions president na si Sean Gibbons.
Aminado naman si Jinkee na mas kinakabahan siya ng husto sa laban ng anak kumpara sa mga dating laban ng mister.
Si Jimuel ay sumasailalim sa training sa sikat na Wild Card Gym sa kamay ng kababayang trainer na si Marvin Somodio.
