Thirdy Ravena namamaga ang tuhod

Panibagong dagok na naman ang tumama kay Thirdy Ravena matapos magtamo ng injury sa tuhod dahilan upang hindi na naman ito masilayan sa aksiyon sa Japan B.League.

Na-diagnose ang 6-foot-3 dating Ateneo de Manila University standout na may namamagang tuhod sa kaliwa na nakuha nito sa laro ng San-en NeoPhoenix at Ryukyu noong Abril 14.

Dahil dito, hindi muna makalalaro si Ravena base sa statement na inilabas ng San-En.

“He will miss this round due to an injury on his left knee. Although it is a difficult situation, we appreciate your support,” ayon sa statement ng San-En.

Nauna nang nagkaroon ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) si Ravena noong nakaraang taon na dahilan para ma-quarantine ito ng ilang linggo.

Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ Drops Official Teaser Trailer

WALT Disney has finally dropped the first official teaser to Steven Spielberg’s upcoming reimagination of West Side Story during the 93rd Academy Awards.

The movie stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler and will premiere in Philippine cinemas soon.

West Side Story stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler, takes inspiration from the William Shakespeare classic, Romeo and Juliet, tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City.

The film is based on the 1957 musical of the same name, with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Steven Spielberg directs the film, with a screenplay from Tony Kushner. Some of the other names playing a part in the film are Tony Award winner Justin Peck, who will be choreographing the film’s musical numbers, while Grammy Award winner Gustavo Dudamel heads the recording of the film’s score.

Reimagining of the beloved musical stars Ansel Elgort (Tony); Rachel Zegler (María); Ariana DeBose (Anita); David Alvarez (Bernardo); Mike Faist (Riff); Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino); Ana Isabelle (Rosalía); Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank); Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke); and Rita Moreno (as Valentina, who owns the corner store in which Tony works).

Moreno – one of only three artists to be honored with Academy®, Emmy®, GRAMMY®, Tony® and Peabody Awards – also serves as one of the film’s executive producers.

West Side Story is slated to arrive in theaters later this year on Dec. 10. The new film was originally slated for release on Dec. 18, 2020, but was delayed by one year as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Aabot ng halos 2,000 medical technologists at medical laboratory technicians ang nanumpa online.

Base sa datos na hawak ng Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), nasa 1,957 medical technologists at medical laboratory technicians ang nanumpa via virtual platform.

Pinangunahan ni Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza, chairperson ng Professional Regulatory Board of Medical Technology (PRBoMT) ang Recital of the Professional’s Oath.

Habang si Marian Tantingco naman, miyembro ng PRBoMT, ang nanguna sa Recitation of the Code of Ethics.

Sa naging mensahe ni PRC Chairman Teofilo S. Pilando Jr., sinabi nito na 70 percent ng kasalukuyang medical decisions ay nakadepende sa laboratory test results. Pagpapatunay lang aniya ito ng mahalagang papel ng clinical laboratories sa healthcare system ng bansa.

Sa naging closing remarks naman ni PRC-NCR Director L. Louis Valera, nagpaalala ito sa mga bagong professionals na ang professionalism, excellence, at compassion ang dapat nilang isapuso sa lahat ng oras.

Pagbabakuna laban sa Covid-19, hindi kailangang gawing mandatory-Sec. Roque

HINDI kailangang gawing mandatory ang pagpapabakuna laban sa Covid-19.

Ito’y sa kabila ng nire-require ng estado ang mga mamamayan na magpabakuna ay hindi naman dapat na gawin itong mandatory lalo pa’t nananatiling mababa ang suplay ng bakuna.

“Bilang isang abugado, kabahagi ng police power ng estado ang i-require ang bakuna kung talagang kinakailangan pero sa ngayon naman mukhang hindi naman kinakailangan mandatory yan dahil hinihintay pa natin ang bulto ng ating mga bakuna,” ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Ang pahayag na ito ni Sec. Roque ay tugon sa ginawang paghahain ng panukalang batas ni Cavite 2nd District Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. sa Kongreso na nire-require ang bawat indibidwal na magpabakuna laban sa COVID-19 para matugunan na rin ang kawalan ng tiwala ng mga ito sa bakuna.

Nauna rito, nilinaw naman ni Sec. Roque na wala pang posisyon si Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa panukalang batas na ito.

Aniya, mataas naman ang vaccine confidence subalit mababa naman ang suplay ng bakuna.

“Ang tingin natin ay dumadami na o tumataas na ang vaccine confidence kaya ang problema natin hindi sapat ang bakuna doon sa mga gustong magpabakuna,” anito. (Daris Jose)

Gen. Parlade at Usec. Badoy, may ‘gag order’ sa community pantry issues – Esperon

Kinumpirma ni National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., na kaniya nang pinagsabihan sina Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. at Larrine Badoy, kapwa tagapagsalita ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), na huwag muna magbigay ng anumang pahayag o komento kaugnay sa mga isinasagawang community pantry initiatives.

Ayon kay Esperon, ang chairman ng NTF-ELCAC, layon ng “gag order” ay para maiwasan na magkaroon ng kalituhan kaugnay sa bayanihan initiative.

“Yes, I did if only to emphasize that NTF ELCAC or Gen Parlade or Usec Badoy are not against bayanihan or community pantries,” wika ni Sec. Esperon.

Naiintindihan naman aniya nina Parlade at Badoy ang inilabas nitong gag order at sa katunayan ay suportado ng dalawa ang bayanihan spirit sa mga community pantry.

Siniguro rin ng NTF-ELCAC chairman na suportado nila ang community pantries na itinayo sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa.

Una rito, itinanggi ni Parlade na kaniyang iniuugnay ang ilang organizers ng community pantries sa komunistang rebelde.

Pero aminado si Parlade, ginagaya ng makakaliwang grupo ang community pantries sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa. (Daris Jose)

19-anyos na NBA prospect player na si Terrence Clark patay sa aksidente

Patay sa aksidente ang 19-anyos na si basketball player ng Kentucky University na si Terrence Clarke.

Ayon sa imbestasyon nagmamaneho ng kaniyang Genesis na sasakyan dakong alas dos ng hapon sa San Fernando Valley at ito ay bumangga sa poste at pader.

Si Clarke ay napipisil sa 2021 NBA Draft pick.

Inaalam pa rin ng mga otoridad ang sanhi ng nasabing aksidente.

Magic coach Steve Clifford nagpositibo sa COVID-19

Nagpositibo sa COVID-19 ang head coach ng Orlando Magic na si Steve Clifford.

Papalit pansamantala sa puwesto nito ang assistant coach na si Ty Corbin.

Sinabi ni Clifford na unang nagpositibo ito sa pagkatalo nila laban sa New Orleans Pelicans at nagnegatibo nitong Biyernes bago nagpositibo nitong Sabado.

Nagtaka rin ito dahil sa pangalawang beses na siyang naturukan ng COVID-19 vaccine mula sa Moderna.

Kasalukuyan ito ay nag-quarantine.

Para na ngang kinukumpirma ni Jennica na totoo ang marital problems na pinagdadaanan nila ng mister niyang si Alwyn Uytingco.

Noong nakaraang buwan, humingi ng tulong si Jennica kung paano mapalitan ang handle name niya sa IG na

Heto ang open letter ni Jennica sa parents struggling with separation.

“Dear Parents, self-love is not selfish.

“It only becomes selfish when you love yourself too much to the extent that your family becomes broken because of it.

“If you are going through something in your marriage but both of you are helping each other to keep the marriage intact, all praises to God!

MASAYANG binalita ng mag-asawang Joyce Pring and Juancho Triviño na they are having a baby boy!

Ni-reveal nila ang gender ng baby sa kanilang YouTube vlog noong nakaraang Friday lamang.

Nagkaroon ng sariling gender-reveal party nina Joyce at Juancho. Nag-set up sila ng isang box kunsaan may hinila silang string at blue confetti at balloons ang lumabas.

“Another Triviño is coming,” sabi ng Kapuso couple.

Ang six-minute video ay pinakita ang pregnancy journey ni Joyce. Natuwa ang marami sa reaction ni Juancho noong unang sabihin ni Joyce na buntis siya habang nagdi-dinner sila.

Umeksena din ang aso nilang si Bowie sa video. Bigla kasi itong makawala habang nagmo-moment ang mag-asawa.

Asian Boxing C’ships kinansela

Kinansela ang Asian Boxing Championship sa India na lalahukan sana ng national boxing team bilang paghahanda sa Tokyo Olympics.

Nakatakda sanang magtungo ang Pinoy pugs sa New Delhi para magpartisipa sa Asian meet na lalarga mula Mayo 31-31– ang final tuneup ng Tokyo-bound boxers.

Subalit kinansela ito ng mga organizers matapos tumaas ang bilang ng tinatamaan ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) doon.

Sinabi ni Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) secretary general Ed Picson na posibleng ilipat na lamang ito sa ibang lugar.

Ayon kay Picson, pinag-aaralan pa ng Asian Boxing Confederation (ABC) kung saan ito maaaring ganapin at tinitignan ang United Arab Emirates at Bahrain na posibilidad na pagdausan ng torneo.

Frances McDormand at Anthony Hopkins, Best Actress at Best Actor sa ‘93rd Academy Awards’; Chloe Zhao, Best Director para sa ‘Nomadland’ na nanalong Best Picture

A night a diversity ang 93rd Academy Awards or the Oscars dahil sa history-making winners nila sa kanilang top categories.

Ang Chinese-American filmmaker na si Chloe Zhao ay ang first woman of color na manalo ng best director award para sa pelikulang Nomadland na nanalong best picture.

Si Zhao rin ang second woman to win the best director award after Kathryn Bigelow in 2008 for the Hurt Locker.

First Korean actress naman na manalo ng Oscar si Yuh-Jung Youn. Nagwagi siyang best supporting actress para sa pelikulang Minari. Bukod sa Oscars, nanalo rin ai Youn ng best supporting actress awards mula sa Screen Actor’s Guild at BAFTA Awards.

Naka-grandslam naman ang British black actor na si Daniel Kaluuya as best supporting actor sa pelikulang Judas and the Black Messiah. He won the Oscars, Golden Globes, SAG at BAFTA. Noong 2017 ay na-nominate siya sa Oscar as best actor for Get Out.

Napanalunan naman ni Frances McDormand ang kanyang third Oscar best actress award for Nomadland. Nanalo siya noong 1996 for Fargo and 2017 for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Tinalo ni Frances ang matinding kalaban niya sa best actress na sina Viola Davis, Andra Day, Vanessa Kirby at Carey Mulligan.

Bukod sa best actress, tumanggap din ni Frances ng Oscar bilang isa sa producers ng Nomadland na nanalong best picture.

Major upset ang pagpanalo ni Anthony Hopkins as best actor para sa pelikulang The Father. Ito ang second Oscar best actor award ni Hopkins na unang nanalo noong 1991 para sa Silence of the Lambs.

Marami ang nag-e-expect na ang mabibigyan ng posthumous best actor si Chadwick Boseman para sa Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Ang singer na si H.E.R. ay ang ikalawang Filipino-American singer-composer na manalo ng Oscar for best original song. Nagwagi si H.E.R. para sa song na “Fight For You” from the movie Judas And The Black Messiah.

Ang unang Fil-American na manalo sa category na ito ay si Robert Lopez para sa awiting “Let It Go” ng Disney animated film na Frozen in 2013.
