PCSO chief Robles, pinagbibitiw

HINIKAYAT ni Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez si Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Mel Robles na magbitiw dahil sa kabiguan umano nitong protektahan ang kabataan, lalo na ang mga bata mula sa e-lotto o online lotto project ng ahensiya.

“It is accessible to anyone, even to young children whose welfare might be affected,” ani Rodriguez.

Ayon sa mambabatas, bukas ang e-lotto opens gambling sa mga menor de edad na may mobile phones, computers at kahalintulad na devices.

“It exposes them to the evils of gambling and erodes moral values,” dagdag nito.

Inindorso ng House committee on games and amusement na pinamumunuan ni Cavite Rep. Antonio Ferrer ang panukalang batas na nagbabawal sa online lotto.

Layon ng panukala na ipagbawal ang pagtataya sa pamamagitan ng mobile phones, laptops, tablets, personal computers, at iba pang kahalintulad na gadgets sa lahat ng lotto games.

Sa kabila nang pagkakaapruba sa panukala ng komite ay ipinagpatuloy umano ni Robles ang pagapatupad ng E-lotto test run.

Sinabi pa ni Rodriguez na sa ginawang paglulunsad ng online lotto, isinatabi umano ng PCSO ang rekomendasyon ng Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC), kabilang na ang requirement para kumuha ng approval mula sa Office of the President.

“Robles likewise has not secured approval of the E-lotto From President Marcos. I believe that the President will not allow this online lotto because this will be very detrimental to our children and the Filipino youth! The PCSO ignored the three OGCC recommendations and they must face legal sanctions accordingly,” dagdag ng mambabatas.

Dapat aniyang pagtuunan ng pansin ng PCSO ang pangunahing mandato nito, na pagbibigay tulong, gamit ang kita nito mula sa traditional revenue-raising projects sa halip na i-promote ang iba’t ibang uri ng sugal.

“We have enough gambling in our country, legal and illegal. We should not add to it because gambling destroys our values, including the value of hard work, endangers the welfare of children and ruins the lives of many people,” pagtatapos ni Rodriguez. (Ara Romero)

24 senador pinalagan ‘People’s Initiative’ para sa Charter change

NILAGDAAN ng lahat ng senador ng Republika ng Pilipinas ang isang joint statement laban sa signature drive ng ilan para maamyendahan ang 1987 Constitution, bagay na bubura raw sa boses ng mga mambabatas.

Ang pahayag ay binasa ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri sa isang plenary session habang pinag-uusapan ang kontrobersyal na People’s Initiative (PI) ngayong Martes.

“If this PI prospers, further changes to the Constitution can be done with or without the Senate’s approval, or worse, even absent all the Senators,” sabi ng joint statement.

“Should Congress vote jointly in a constituent assembly the Senate and its 24 members cannot cast any meaningful vote against the 316 members of the House of Representatives.”

“While it seems simple, the goal is apparent — to make it easier to revise the Constitution by eliminating the Senate from the equation.”

Ngayong Enero lang nang ibulgar ni Rep. Edcel Lagman (Albay, 1st District) ang aniya’y suhulan para makakalap ng mga pirma para sa pagbabago ng naturang Saligang Batas.

Marami sa mga nagtutulak ng Charter change ay nais tanggalin ang mga restriksyon at limitasyon sa foreign ownership at investments sa mga industriya, serbisyo at likas-yaman sa ngalan ng “pag-unlad.” Gayunpaman, pinapalagan ito nang maraming patriyotiko dahil sa diumano’y pagsusuko ng soberanya.

“It will destabilize the principle of bicameralism and our system of checks and balances,” dagdag pa ng Senado.

“It is ridiculous that the Senate, a co-equal chamber of the House, which is needed to pass even local bills, will have a dispensable and diluted role in Charter change — the most monumental act of policymaking concerning the highest law in the land.”

Kung saka-sakaling mailusot ito, wala na raw magagawa ang Senado kahit sa mga kontrobersyal na proposals gaya ng:

pagtanggal ng proteksyon mula sa 100% foreign ownership ng lupa
pagtanggal ng term limits o “no election” scenario sa 2025 o 2028

Ang naturang pahayag ay tanda aniya ng tindig ng Senado bilang “bastion of democracy” at pagpalag sa talamak na paglabag sa konstitusyon.

Nangyayari ang lahat ng ito kahit una nang inihain ni Zubiri ang Resolution of both Houses 6 sa layuning maamyendahan ang Article 12 (Section 11), 14 (Paragraph 2, Section 4) at 16 (Paragraph 2 Section 11) ng konstitusyon — para rin tanggalin ang mga restriksyon sa foreign investments, foreign ownership sa public utilities, atbp.

Una nang inayawan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Bise Presidente Sara Duterte ang naturang PI para sa Cha-cha, pati na ang posibilidad ng pagbibigay ng 100% foreign ownership sa mga lupain ng bansa. Gayunpaman, aminado si Zubiri na pinapa-review na ni Marcos ang mga economic provisions.

Kamakailan lang nang sabihin ni retired Supreme Court chief justice Artemio Panganiban na kakarampot na amendments lang ang pwedeng mangyari sa ilalim ng PI, bagay na kinakailangang “malinaw at tiyak.” (Daris Jose)

Ex-Mayor Elenita Binay inabsuwelto sa graft

INABSWELTO ng Sandiganbayan si dating Makati City mayor Elenita Binay sa graft and malversation charges kaugnay ng mahigit P9.9 milyong halaga ng biniling medical equipment.

Nakalusot sa criminal liability si Binay matapos hindi napatunayan ng prosekusyon ang kanyang “guilt beyond reasonable doubt.”

Kasama rin sa mga akusado sina dating Makati City officials Conrado Pamintuan at Jaime de los Reyes na hinatulan ng Sandiganbayan na makulong ng hanggang 8 taon at sinentensyahan din ng “perpetual disqualification” sa anumang posisyon sa gobyerno.

Ang kaso ay isinampa ng Ombudsman noong 2011 kaugnay ng umano’y irregularidad sa pagbili ng cryosurgical units na may volumetric pressure pumps sa halagang P9.9 milyon na hindi dumaan sa public bidding para sa Ospital ng Makati. (Daris Jose)

PBBM, target na makapagpatayo ng karagdagang 179 specialty centers bago matapos ang termino

TARGET ng gobyerno ng Marcos na makapagpatayo ng karagdagang 179 medical specialty centers bago matapos ang termino ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Sa nasabing bilang, 7 rito ay ilalaan para sa lung care centers sa pamamagitan ng Regional Specialty Center Act.

“By 2028, we aim to establish an additional 179 specialty centers, seven of which are dedicated as lung care centers,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos sa kanyang naging talumpati sa paglulunsad ng kauna-unahang human lung transplant ng Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) at National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).

Winika ng Pangulo na nakapagtayo na ang gobyerno ng 131 functional specialty centers sa buong bansa, kung saan ay 9 ang itinalaga bilang lung specialty centers na naglalayong dalhin ang “lung care” malapit sa mga Filipino partikular na sa rural areas.

Upang iangat ang pamumuhay ng Filipino healthcare workers at palakasin ang kanilang kaalaman at kasanayan, patuloy na magsasagawa ang gobyerno ng pagsasanay para sa mga doktor sa pamamagitan ng “Doctors to the Barrios Program” lalo pa’t “their development is critical to the realization of universal healthcare”.

Kapwa naman ipinatutupad ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) at Department of Health (DOH) ang pinalawak na nursing education program na naglalayong tugunan ang kakapusan ng mga nurse habang tinitiyak naman ang kanilang “future supply.

Sa naging talumpati ng Pangulo sa nasabing paglulunsad, pinuri ng Punong Ehekutibo ang mga healthcare workers para sa kanilang hindi matatawarang commitment sa healthcare system, ang mga mamamayang Filipino at sa bansa lalo na noong mga panahon ng pagsubok nang bigwasan ng COVID-19 pandemic ang bansa.

“Nais naming ipaabot ang aming taus-pusong pasasalamat dahil sa inyong katapangan, your gallant acts do not fade with time, then gratitude has no expiry date either,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.

Samantala, si Pangulong Marcos ang panauhing pandangal sa isinagawang paglulunsad ng LCP at NKTI lung transplant program sa Quezon City, araw ng Martes kung saan pinangunahan din niya ang ribbon cutting ceremony at binisita ang photo exhibit ng event na nagpapakita ng “milestone” ng LCP. PBBM pinatitigil ang umano’y bayaran sa pangangalap ng pirma para sa Cha Cha

PINATITIGIL ni Pang. Ferdinand Marcos Jr ang umano’y bayaran sa pangangalap ng pirma para sa Peoples Initiative na layong amyendahan ang 1987 Constitution.

Sa panayam kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr kanyang inihayag na sakaling mayroong ganoong isyu na bayaran hindi ito tatanggapin ng Commission on Election.

Gayunpaman sinabi ng Pangulo na wala siyang natatanggap na ulat ukol sa bayaran kapalit ng pirma bagkus may mga nakarating sa kaniya na may mga ibinigay na pangako kapalit ng ibat ibang serbisyo.

Inihayag ng Pangulo na kanya sanang pinapatigil ang pagbibigay ng serbisyo ng DSWD sa publiko ngunit kaniyang napagtanto na hindi pwedeng itigil dahil marami ang nangangailangan.

Kaya ipinauubaya na ni Pang. Marcos sa Comelec ang pag-validate sa nasabing ulat. (Daris Jose)

Takemichi Hanagaki(Takumi Kitamura) is close to uncovering the secret of the mysterious Valhalla gang as war approaches between them and the Toman gang. Still on a mission in the past to save his beloved Hinata(Mio Imada) from getting killed in the present, Takemichi must figure out what happened during the deadly “Bloody Halloween” brawl for a chance at a future with her.

The Toman gang is falling apart as the top members seem to be following their own agenda. First Division Captain and founding member of the Tokyo Manji Gang Keisuke Baji(Kento Nagayama) crossed sides and betrayed his own to join Valhalla. Mikey(Ryo Yoshizawa), head of the Toman gang, surprisingly integrates Tetta Kisaki(Shotaro Mamiya) a former leader of their enemy gang, Moebius, to their group as Third Division Captain. Takemichi must navigate the deadly fallout between best friends and comrades to discover the link from the past to his present, and save the person he cares for the most.

Takumi Kitamura, currently well known for playing Yusuke in the live-action adaptation of YuYu Hakusho, takes the lead in Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween- Decisive Battle as Takemichi Hanagaki. He also won the 41st Japan Academy Award for Best New Actor for the animated film “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas”. Ryo Yoshizawa plays the leader of the pack Mikey, who is not all who he seems to be. He’s well known for his role in live-action films, one of them being Ryusei Sakuta in “Kamen Rider Fourze”. Yuki Yamada plays one of the surviving members of Tokyo Manji in the present, Draken. He’s part of the acting group D-Boys and has had a successful career which includes the critically acclaimed “Godzilla Minus One”.

Catch them and the rest of the cast as the it all ends with “Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween- Decisive Battle” in cinemas starting February 7, an Encore Films film distributed by Warner Bros.

Magkumare rin ang dalawang reyna ng GMA: MARIAN at JENNYLYN, nagpakita ng suporta sa kani-kanilang show

SA mundo ng showbiz kung saan kaliwa’t kanan ang siraan at hilahan pababa, nakakatuwang malaman na marami pa rin ang nagbibigay ng suporta sa kapwa artista.

Tulad na lamang dalawang reyna ng GMA na sina Marian Rivera at Jennylyn Mercado.

Sa Instagram story ni Marian ay nag-post ang Primetime Queen ng art card ng ‘Love. Die. Repeat.’ na comeback na serye ni Jennylyn sa Kapuso Network.

Nagsimula na itong umere nitong January 15, leading man ni Jennylyn (bilang si Angela) si Xian Lim (bilang Bernard).

Sa parte naman ni Jennylyn, ni-post ng Ultimate Star sa kanyang Instagram account ang poster ng ‘Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa 2.0’, ang nagbabalik na comedy show nina Marian at Dingdong Dantes na mula nitong January 20 ay napapanood tuwing Sabado.

Siyanga pala, hindi lang naman kasi magkatrabaho bilang parehong Kapuso sina Marian at Jennylyn dahil magkumare rin sila dahil ninang si Marian ng anak nina Jennylyn at Dennis Trillo na si Baby Dylan.

Trivia: nagkasama na sa isang serye ang dalawang reyna ng GMA, sa ‘Super Twins’ noong 2007.

Mahihirap na seniors, P1K na social pension sa DSWD simula Pebrero

SIMULA sa Pebrero ngayong taon ay makakatanggap na ng P1,000 monthly stipend ang mga mahihirap na senior citizen na benepisyaryo ng Social Pension ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez, ang pondo ay nakalakip sa DSWD 2024 budget base na rin sa Republic Act 11916 o ang Act Increasing the Social Pension of Indigent Senior Citizens.

Sa ilalim ng RA 11916, ang pagbibigay ng 100% increase sa buwanang pension ng mga indigent senior citizens mula P500 hanggang P1,000 ay upang matulungan ang elderly na makaagapay sa patuloy na pagtaas ng mga bilihin.

Nilinaw ni Lopez na maituturing na eligible sa programa ang isang senior citizen kung ito ay hindi tumatanggap ng monthly pension mula sa Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), Armed Forces at Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI), o sa kahit na anong private insurance company.

May kabuuang 4,085,066 indigent senior citizens ang sakop ng social pension program para sa taong 2024.
