Critics who got to join the world premiere of Argylle in London are singing praises of the latest star-studded spy flick from director Matthew Vaughn… with one even joining the call for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize the stunt industry and include a Best Stunt award at the Oscars.

Critic Luis Fernando, who writes for Empire magazine, joined the calls for a Best Stunt award at the Oscars because of how impressed he was with the action of Argylle. “Just had a blast watching #Argylle” he posted on X. “1- It’s past time for stunts to have an #Oscars category! 2- If #Argylle had come out in 2023, it would dominate the Best Original Song nominations along with #Barbie. Banger after banger. #ElectricEnergy is THE BOMB!”

“#ArgylleMovie is a lot of fun & a bit of a throwback,” Screen Rant’s Joseph Deckelmeier posted on X. “It’s the perfect blend of action, comedy, music, and espionage. This cast [is] absolutely incredible & their energy come through the screen. The action, twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. Watch it on a big screen!”

Editor and podcaster Rachel Leishman loved everything about the movie, especially the music and Alfie the cat! “I love #Argylle so much,” she said. “A perfect return to form for Matthew Vaughn and a movie that really just speaks to the spy genre and elevates it to a new level. Truly had the best soundtrack too. It also proves cats are the best.”

Fan favorite comic book writer Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Kingsman series) also posted his reaction on X, but couldn’t say much as full reviews were under embargo at the time of his posting. “The movie is awesome,” he posted.

In Argylle, Bryce Dallas Howard is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books – which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate – begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by Aidan (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur. The cast includes Henry Cavill, John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Samuel L. Jackson, Ariana DeBose and Dua Lipa.

Kamara walang planong buwagin ang Senado

TINIYAK ng mga lider ng Kamara na wala silang plano upang buwagin ang senado sa kanilang isinusulong na reporma sa Konstitusyon.

Ito ang sinabi nina Rizal Rep. Jack Duavit, ang lider ng Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) bloc sa Kamara, Deputy Speaker at Ilocos Sur Rep. Kristine Singson-Meehan, Senior Deputy Speaker at Pampanga Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., at Bataan Rep. Albert Garcia, ang secretary general ng National Unity Party (NUP).

Sinabi ng mga ito na ang pangamba na plano ng Kamara na buwagin ang Senado ay nasa isip lamang ng nagpapahayag nito.

Muli ring iginiit ng mga kongresista ang pagsuporta ng Kamara at ng liderato ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez sa Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No. 6 ng Senado na naglalayong amyendahan ang economic provision ng Konstitusyon.

Ang RBH No. 6 ay akda nina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri at Senadora Loren Legarda, at senator Juan Edgardo Angara. Ang panukala ay isinumite sa special subcommittee na pinamumunuan ni Angara.

“With regard to the fears and allegations that the House would want to abolish the Senate, we would just like to let everybody know that as far as our party is concerned, there is no way we will be voting in any form to remove our five senators. And if we are not going to remove our five senators, then the other 19 senators can be assured,” ani Duavit.

Sa Senado ang mga miyembro ng NPC ay sina Sen. Loren Legarda, Francis Escudero, Lito Lapid, Sherwin Gatchalian, at Joseph Victor Ejercito.

Si Singson-Meehan, na stalwart din ng NPC ay sumuporta sa pahayag ni Duavit.

Ayon sa mga kongresista, suportado nila ang pag-amyenda sa economic provision ng Konstitusyon upang mas malayang makapagnegosyo sa Pilipinas ang mga dayuhang mamumuhunan na pinagbabawalan na mag may-ari ng negosyo sa bansa.

“At at the same time when the economy gets better, alam mo ‘yung basic social services na binibigay natin, laging sinasabi ng mga people from our district na kulang. Kulang ‘yung TUPAD, kulang ‘yung AICS, pati ‘yung medical assistance sa hospitals. But when our economy gets better, ‘yung collections, ‘yung funds ng government, tumataas na rin,” sabi pa ng lady solon.

Iginiit naman ni Gonzales, stalwart ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), na hindi kasama ang political amendments sa isinusulong ng Kamara.

“Wala po kaming sinasabi na i-abolish natin ang Senado, guni-guni lang po nila ‘yan. Hindi po ‘yun totoo,” sabi ni Gonzales.

Umapela naman si Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, stalwart ng Nacionalista Party (NP) sa mga senador na maging mahinahon at iginiit nag kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng parliamentary courtesy sa pagitan ng Senado at Kamara.

Ganito rin ang sinabi ni Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, ang pangulo ng Party-List Coalition Foundation, Inc. (PCFI).

Nagpahayag din ng pagsuporta si House Majority Leader at Zamboanga City Rep. Manuel Dalipe sa RBH 6 ng Senado.

Ayon naman kay Camiguin Rep. Jesus Jurdin Romualdo, nahuhuli ang Pilipinas sa mga karatig-bansa nito sa paghikayat ng dayuhang pamumuhunan.

Iginiit naman nina Deputy Speaker at Quezon Rep. David “Jay-jay” Suarez at Agusan del Norte Rep. Jose “Joboy” Aquino II ang kahalagahan ng pag-amyenda sa economic provisions ng Konstitusyon upang madagdagan ang mga mapapasukang trabaho at kabuhayan ng mga Pilipino. (Ara Romero)

SA 20^th wedding anniversary celebration nina Gladys Reyes at mister nitong si Christopher Roxas kamakailan inihayag ni Vice Ganda na magsasama sila ng matalik niyang kaibigang aktres sa isang pelikula sa ilalim ng direktor na si Jun Lana.

Lahad ni Vice, “Meron akong project with Direk Jun. Saktung-sakto kasi Jun Lana baby siya.

“Sabi ko, ‘Sabihin ko kay direk Jun, magsama tayo sa next project.’ Kaya I’m very happy to be here tonight, hindi ako puwedeng um-absent.”

Streaming ngayon sa Netflix ang ‘Barber’s Tales’ na pelikula ni Gladys na ang direktor ay si direk Jun.

Pagpapatuloy pa ni Vice, “Nag-usap nga kami nina Bianca saka nina Ruru, ‘Magpa-attendance na tayo. Kasi kung hindi, masusumpa tayo.’”

Sabay-sabay dumating sa party nina Gladys at Christopher sina Vice, Bianca Umali, Ruru Madrid at Vhong Navarro.

Lahad pa ni Vice, “Mahal na mahal kita. Alam mo namang mahiyain ako sa mga event. Ha! Ha! Ha! Mahiyain ako sa mga events!”

“Kaya kahit ano pa man, I will always make it for you because I love you very much. You’re so dear to me.

“And I am very grateful to everything that you have shown me, sa lahat-lahat.

“Sa industry, hindi po imposibleng magkaroon ng kaibigang pangmatagalan. Posibleng-posible po yun kay Gladys.

“Maraming salamat. I love you.”

Sinagot ito ni Gladys ng, “I love you sis.”

Nagsimula ang pagkakaibigan nina Vice at Gladys maraming taon na ang nakalilipas noong sabay silang naging hurado sa ‘It’s Showtime’.

Samantala, bukod kina Vice, Bianca, Ruru at Vhong ay nasa party rin sina Angelu de Leon, Wowie de Guzman, Bianca Lapus, Patricia Javier at mister nitong chiropractor na si Rob Walcher, Archie Alemania at Claudine Barretto.

Kasabay sa selebrasyon na ginanap sa The Glass Garden Events Place ang18th birthday ng guwapong panganay na anak ng mag-asawa na si Christophe.

Ginanap rin that night ang pagpirma ni Christophe ng kontrata sa ABS-CBN Star Music bilang contract artist nila dahil mahusay na singer at performer ang binata.

SA mga hindi nakakaalam ay matagal nang magkaibigan sina Vice Ganda at Gladys Reyes.

Ito ang kuwento ni Vice nang dumalo siya sa 20th wedding anniversary nina Gladys at ng asawang si Christopher Roxas.

Ayon kay Vice baguhan pa lang daw siya noon sa showbiz ay madalas daw ay magkasama sila ng Gladys sa mga out of town shows.

Si Gladys pa nga raw noon ang magre-request sa mga talent coordinators na isama nila si Vice sa mga provincial shows at iba pang mga raket.

Kaya naman halos lahat daw ng imbitasyon ni Gladys ay hindi raw pwedeng walang Vice Ganda na sisipot.

Kaya sa 20th wedding anniversary ng mag-asawa na ginanap sa napakagandang Glass Garden Events Place sa Santolan, Pasig ay isa sa mga naunang bisitang dumating ay si Vice Ganda, na unang nagbigay ng mensahe.

“Very much happy ako sa inyo, kakatuwa dahil nag-exist pa rin yung mga ganyang love stories sa panahon ngayon.

“Di ba parang impossible na ngayon ang mga ganyang love story, na magtatagal. Meron at meron pa rin namang relasyon na nabubuo at hindi nabigyan ng hangganan,” sey pa Vice.

Dagdag pa ng main host ng “It’s Showtime” ay maituring na isang inspiration daw ang relasyon nina Gladys at Christopher sa mga bagong magkarelasyon ngayon.

“Sa totoo lang, nakaka-inspire lalo na sa nga unti-unti nang nawawalan ng pag-asa sa larangan ng pag-ibig.

Walang katapusan namang pasasalamat ni Gladys kay Vice dahil inspite of sa napaka-hectic na schedule nito ay pinagbigyan pa rin sa kanyang imbitasyon.

“Thank you so much for considering me as one of your closest friends. I am very happy to be a very close to you.

“I really enjoyed so much time with you nung nagsisimula pa lang ako,” dagdag pa ni Vice Ganda.

KASABAY na rin ng 20th wedding anniversary nina Gladys at Christopher ang 18th birthday ni Christophe Roxas.

Napaluha ang panganay na anak ng mag-asawa hindi dahil sa bongga ng birthday celebration kundi dahil sa sorpresa na natanggap niya sa selebrasyon ng kanyang 18th bday.

Dumating ang mga big bosses ng ABS-CBN Star Music na sina Roxy Liquigan, Jonathan Manalo at iba pang bosing ng nasabing recording company.

Sa mismong kaarawan ni Christophe ay inaanunsiyo ang pagiging contract star niya under Star Music at doon na rin ginanap ang contract signing.

Hindi makapaniwala ang guwapong anak nina Gladys na mag-uumpisa na ngayon sa pagiging recording artist.

Siyempre very proud parents naman sina Gladys at Christopher. Napatawa pa nga si Gladys at baka mag-umpisa na rin daw ang pagiging stage mother niya, huh!

Bagong Pilipinas rally, hindi gagamitin para isulong ang Chacha -PCO

PINABULAANAN ng mga opisyal ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) na hindi gagamitin ang Bagong Pilipinas campaign kickoff rally, bukas, Enero 28 para itulak ang Charter change (Cha-cha).

“Definitely not. This is an activity by the Executive Department for the covenant of Bagong Pilipinas. This is the Executive Department’s way of showing its commitment that it will do its job… There are no other reasons,” ayon kay PCO Undersecretary Gerard Baria.

Sinabi naman ni PCO Director Cris Villonco na “as part of the event and the one overseeing the event, I can assure that is not the case.“

“We are talking about empowering the Filipino at its very core,” dagdag na wika ni Villonco.

Nauna rito, ipinahayag kasi ni Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares na ang Bangon Pilipinas rally ay pronta lamang para itulak ang Charter change.

Ang buwelta naman Baria, ang mga salungat na pahayag at paniniwala ng iilan ukol sa tunay na nilalayon ng rally ay para guluhin ang mga ideya.

Tinuran pa ni Colmemares na ang nasabing event ay pag-aaksaya lamang ng pondo ng publiko.

Bilang pagdepensa sa kickoff rally, sinabi ni Baria na ang kahalagahan ng Bagong Pilipinas ay marapat lamang na ilathala.

“An idea as big as this deserves an event as big as this,” anito.

Idinagdag naman ni Villonco na “we need to make this big, we need to make this loud… we need to spread as fast as possible because we deserve this, we need this and we need everybody’s help.”

‘Deepfake’ videos, dumarami, PNP cybercrime group nababahala

NABABAHALA na ang Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) sa paglaganap ng ‘deepfakes’ videos at larawan online.

Ayon kay PCol. Jay Guillermo, ng Cyber Response Unit, labis nang nakakaalarma ang laganap na ‘deepfake’ videos na gumagamit ng ilang sikat na personalidad sa bansa.

Nagagamit ang mga ito sa pamamagitan ng artificial intelligence (AI).

May mga reklamo na silang natanggap sa kanilang opisina na iligal na ginagamit ang kanilang video para makabenta ng ilang produkto.

Paalala ng pulisya iwasang mag-post ng mga larawan at video at ilimita sa mga kaibigan.

Patuloy ang ginagawang pakikipag-ugnayan nila sa ibang mga ahensiya ukol sa nasabing insidente.

Aminado ang pulisya na sa makabagong teknolohiya maraming indibiduwal ang nakakagawa ng mga illegal activities.

NAGDAOS ng isang digital seminar ang Local Government Unit ng Quezon City at ang Globe Group na naglalayong makapagbigay ng kaalaman sa mga mamamayan na nasa senior age na, kaugnay sa patuloy na umuunlad at pabago-bagong digital landscape sa bansa sa pamamagitan ng “Teach Me How To Digi” #SeniorDigizen Learning Session.”

Ayon kay Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, ang proyektong ito ay upang magabayan ang mga senior citizen ng lungsod na makahabol at makasabay sa modernong teknolohiya.

Ayon pa sa Alkalde, prayoridad ng lungsod ang mga senior citizen ng lungsod lalo na sa usapin ng public service upang matulungan silang maging produktibo.

Tinuruan sa nasabing event ang nasa 400 na senior citizen ng pagseset-up ng email address, pagggamit ng smartphone at ang paggamit ng e-wallet na G-Cash at ang telehealth service na KonsultaMD.

Dagdag pa ni Belmonte, malaki ang maitutulong ng mga kaalamang ito sa mga senior QCitizens para makasabay sa mga nakababatang henerasyon pagdating sa makabagong teknolohiya.

Sabi pa niya Lubos tayong nagpapasalamat sa Globe sa kanilang programang ito para sa mga matatanda sa Lungsod Quezon na magbibigay daan sa kanila para maging produktibo sa kabila ng kanilang edad.

PBBM, hindi kasama at hindi kailanman nakasama sa drug watch list- PDEA

MARIING itinanggi ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) na kasama si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa watchlist nito para sa mga taong sangkot sa illegal drug use kontra sa akusasyon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

“Based on all the foregoing facts, the PDEA asserts that President Marcos Jr. is not and was never in its watchlist,” ayon sa kalatas ng PDEA.

Hayagang sinasalungat ang pahayag ng dating Pangulo na ipinakita nila rito ang pangalan ni Marcos Jr. sa sinasabing drug list.

Ayon kay Duterte ang di umano’y ebidensiya ay ipinakita sa kanya noong siya ay Mayor pa lamang ng Davao.

Base sa records, binuhay ang PDEA noong Hulyo 30, 2002 nang itatag nito ang National Drug Information System (NDIS), nagsilbi bilang intelligence database ng lahat ng drug personalities na responsable sa pangangalap ng inputs mula sa law enforcement at intelligence counterparts.

Binigyang diin ng PDEA na hindi kailanman nakasama ang pangalan ni Pangulong Marcos sa NDIS simula nang matatag ito noong 2002 at hanggang sa kasalukuyan, binigyang-diin din na hindi kasama ang Pangulo (Marcos) sa listahan nito sa mga drug personalities kahit pa noong panahon ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

“It is worthwhile to note that, when the former President took over in 2016, his administration came out with a list, which was then initially called the ‘narco-list, sometimes referred to as the Duterte list, and upon continuing validation and re-validation, it became the Inter-Agency Drug Information Database, or IDI,” ayon sa PDEA.

“The name of President Marcos is also not in the said list,” ayon sa PDEA. (Daris Jose)
