Posted on: January 19th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“This is still part of making the tax system simpler,” ayon kay National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon.

“The committee is particularly studying taxing wristwatches, bags, and other leather items above P50,000, private jets, luxury cars above P5 million, the sale of residential properties above P100 million, beverages above P20,000 per bottle, traded paintings above P100,000, among other items,” sabi ni Salceda.

It’s also a way for the more fortunate ones na makatulong,” anito.

Posted on: January 19th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“The workforce is still workforce, still exists. It is up to us as leaders, I think, to be very careful how we direct now the development of the economy because it’s not business as usual. The pandemic changed everything,” ang wika ni Pangulong Marcos.

“So specific to the Middle Eastern countries, we have very strong relations actually with the Middle Eastern countries,” dagdag na wika ng Pangulo sabay sabing “This is due to the huge numbers of OFWs in the Middle East.”

“Because in the talks that we’ve had with some of the leaders from the Middle East, the discussion always begins with the overseas Filipino workers,” ani Pangulong Marcos.

“Some of the examples that we’re looking at are the ones in the Middle East because they have been the ones that have been most successful,” ani Pangulong Marcos.

“The connections are there — we just not have — put it in that area. But I’m sure that any opportunities that we will be given… have to take full advantage of,” aniya pa rin. (Daris Jose)

“Noong kinausap kasi nila ko, buo na, ‘yung concept nila about body positivity kaya madali sa akin na mag-yes because it’s also my advocacy.”

Sabi pa niya, “Usually ang calendar girl, there’s a certain mold. That’s why this campaign resonated with me because it’s out to prove that beauty is in all forms, shapes and sizes.

“Definitely, I never thought that I’ll see myself as a calendar girl. If anything that changed, kaya ko pala. Kaya ko pala.

“Actually, I did a birthday shoot but it feels like my personal consumption kind of thing. Pero publicly, kaya pala. I think, it brings confidence in myself also.”

Katwiran niya, “I feel like it’s all out in the open anyway. I don’t think there’s something to deny or confirm. I feel like it’s already out , so take it for what it is, I guess.”

Nag-post ito ng comment na, “People always have something negative to say.  Let’s fast forward and after this event that waiter just went viral, will probably get something after, and a LOT of sympathy.  Most recognition he ever got as a waiter.  So after all the noise… I’m sure he will be grateful that this happened.  Looks like people just like to extract the negative out of things instead of the positive.”

At may kasunod pa itong post na, “So now it’s bad to put cake on someone’s face during a birthday? I thought that was a normal thing.”

KLK.”

“I never though Kris Lawrence will be this shallow. Well I guess the last picture shows. Another Donnalyn Bartolome wanna be. Dude, Alex Gonzaga is fucking rude. Calling out her bad attitude is not bullying. It’s just us letting her know.”

“Congrats to kris lawrence on achieving the most recognition he will ever get as a singer.”

“Imagine someone celebrating their birthday on a Kris Lawrence gig, he sings them happy birthday, and they surprisingly smeared a cake icing on his face while he is performing/working on stage. Yeah that seems pretty normal to me.”

Posted on: January 19th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

MARGOT ROBBIE, A FORCE OF DISRUPTION IN “BABYLON”

Posted on: January 19th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

TWO-TIME Oscar-nominee Margot Robbie plays Nellie LaRoy, an unknown actress who is trying to get her big break into show business, in Paramount Pictures’ critically acclaimed epic, Babylon. A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, the film traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.

[Watch the film’s “Margot Robbie” featurette at https://youtu.be/qna6omwTBvQ]

When Margot Robbie read the script for the first time, she says it was the strongest reaction she had ever had.  “My team was actually a little alarmed at my intensity,” says Robbie. “I was like, ‘I have to do it. This role is mine.’”

“For a role like Nellie you need an actor who truly has no fear. Someone who can take the screen as though she’s grabbing it by the sides and shaking it to do whatever she wanted to do. That, to me, is Nellie. That, to me, is Margot. In many other respects they are incredibly different people, but there’s an energy and fervor and hunger that they both share,” says director-writer Damien Chazelle.

While Nellie’s character is inspired by a myriad of silent film stars, it was the true-life story of Clara Bow that really helped Robbie understand Nellie.

“Clara Bow had probably the worst childhood of anyone I’ve ever heard of,” says Robbie, referring to the trauma and abuse that Bow suffered as a child of poverty. “Clara’s parents never got a birth certificate for her because they had already lost two children, and they felt certain she would never make it past her childhood. When I read that, the character of Nellie really started to make sense to me. I could imagine she always felt that every day she was on the planet she was on borrowed time, so she was going for broke every single day.”

In an introduction befitting her wild nature, Nellie LaRoy first appears on screen as she’s careening her car into a statue outside studio mogul Don Wallach’s mansion. Nellie is determined to crash the party, so that all of Hollywood’s power brokers can witness the moment when a star is born.

“The operating principle with Nellie was that she’s a force of nature who just kind of crashes into everything that she encounters,” says Chazelle. “There’s a kind of magic that arises from that, and it’s part of why she becomes a star, but it’s also part of why she encounters so many problems in her career so quickly as well. She’s representative of that kind of wild-west spirit of the time where the old rules were out the window.”

Once inside the party, Nellie makes the most of her opportunity, mixing with all of the beautiful people while somehow standing out at the same time, and it all leads to her first big break in the business.

“This party scene shows how every little thing in Hollywood can lead to something big,” says Robbie. “It’s how I felt when I first got to L.A. too. There’s no roadmap of how to make it happen, but you know you need to make it happen, so you just do everything you can to create that moment. Nellie just instinctively knows that she needs to get into that party, because something’s going to happen tonight, and it’s going to be big,” she concludes.

In cinemas across the Philippines starting February 1stBabylon is distributed by Paramount Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Deadline ng SIM registration, sa Abril 26

Posted on: January 18th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Said deadline is in line with the provisions of Republic Act No. 11934, or the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Act, which states that ‘All existing SIMs subscribers shall register the same with their respective PTEs within one hundred eighty (180) days from the effectivity of this Act’,” anila pa, sa isang pahayag.

“It therefore took effect 15 days after such publication, or no later than 28 October 2022,” dagdag pa nito.

Posted on: January 18th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Actually, I don’t know how the word partnership started to be used. It’s really an agreement that you will… that China will not stop our fishermen from fishing,” ang pahayag ng Pangulo sa isang panayam.

“They will continue to allow our fishermen to fish in the fishing grounds that they have been to, they have used for many generations. That’s it. It’s that simple,” dagdag na wika ng Pangulo.

Ayon kay Marcos, nangako si Xi na “that we would find a compromise and find a solution that will be beneficial so that our fishermen might be able to fish again in their natural fishing grounds.”

(Daris Jose)
