South Korea, pinasalamatan sa 2,000 MT rice donation

PINASALAMATAN ni relected Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang South Korea sa donasyon nitong mahigit sa 2,000 metric tons ng bigas sa Pilipinas bilang suporta sa food security, disaster response at patuloy na rice shortages.

Sa isinagawang announcement, inihayag ng Korean Embassy na magbibigay ito ng 2,016 metric tons ng bigas sa Pilipinas.

“South Korea’s heartwarming donation is proof of its strong ties with the Philippines and its selflessness to look out for its neighbors in Asia – a reflection of Asian values of unity and community,” ani Romualdez.

Malaki ang pasasalamat ng Pilipinas at taumbayan sa tulong ng Seoul ngayong panahon na nangangailangan ng bansa.

Siniguro naman nito sa Korean government na gagamitin ng Philippine government sa ilalim ng liderato ni Presidente Marcos ang donasyon na bigas sa nangangailang kababayan.

“This donated rice will be used as intended: in delivering aid to disaster victims and providing access to affordable food in our most vulnerable communities. This is how the Philippines repays the kindness of its allies and neighbors: by bringing the aid it receives to people and places that need it the most,” dagdag nito.

Ang turnover ceremony para sa donasyong bigas ay gaganapin sa Agosto sa Manila. Sa 2,016 metric tons ng bigas, 1,616 ay mapupunta sa Department of Social Welfare and Development, habang ang 400 metric tons ay ibibigay sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

“This generous donation could also complement the Marcos administration’s ‘Benteng Bigas, Meron Na!’ initiative and will certainly help the Philippines inch closer to its goal of attaining food security,” pahayag nito.

Pinaalalahanan naman ni Romualdez ang mga kaukulang government agencies na siguruhin ang maagap na pamamahagi ng donasyong bigas sa mga benipisaryo nito.

“Ang bigas na ito ay ibibigay sa atin para mapadali at mapabilis ang relief operations ng pamahalaan para sa mga nasalanta. Hindi dapat pinaghihintay ang mga benepisyaryo at dapat matanggap nila ito sa maayos at organisadong proseso, tulad nang ninanais ng South Korea.”

Ang donasyon ay bahagi ng ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve’s Tier 3 program, kung saan ang South Korea ay aktibong nagsisilbing donor. (Vina de Guzman)
