Rep. Erice: Liberal Party hindi makikipag-alyansa sa Marcos Administration

SINABI ni Caloocan Second District Representative Edgar “Egay” Erice na ang anumang panukala para sa Liberal Party na pumasok sa isang political alliance sa administrasyong Marcos ay hindi naaayon sa mga pangunahing prinsipyo ng partido maliban na lang kung tutugunan muna ng administrasyon ang inilarawan niyang pinakamalaking diumano’y iskandalo sa katiwalian sa kasaysayan ng Philippine national budget at infrastructure program.

“The Liberal Party has always stood for transparency, accountability, and good governance. We cannot abandon these principles for the sake of political convenience,” ani Erice.

Ayon kay Erice, hindi pa rin nasasagot ang mga seryosong katanungan hinggil sa umano’y malakihang manipulasyon sa badyet na kinasasangkutan ng flood control at iba pang proyektong pang-imprastraktura, na pinaniniwalaan niyang nagresulta sa pagkawala ng trilyong piso sa pondo ng publiko sa pamamagitan ng mga ghost project, substandard infrastructure, at kuwestiyonableng budget reallocations.

“What makes this issue even more compelling is that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself was the first to publicly raise concerns about irregularities in flood control projects. He promised to determine the truth and hold accountable those responsible. Unfortunately, despite those commitments, the Filipino people have yet to see a comprehensive accounting of what actually happened or who has been held responsible,” dagdag niya.

Sa halip na ganap na transparency, sinabi ni Erice na nasaksihan ng publiko ang pag-aaway sa pulitika, pagturo ng daliri, at mga pagsisikap na, sa kanyang pananaw, ay nagpapahina sa tiwala ng publiko sa mga demokratikong institusyon, kabilang ang Kongreso.

Nagpahayag din siya ng pagkabahala sa inilarawan niyang paggamit ng mga institusyon ng gobyerno para sugpuin ang hindi pagsang-ayon.

“There is a growing perception that institutions such as the Ombudsman and the National Bureau of Investigation have been used not only to conceal the truth but also to harass critics of the administration. Whether these concerns are justified can only be answered through independent, impartial, and credible investigations,” giit niya.

Binigyang-diin ni Erice na ang pagkakakilanlan ng Liberal Party ay palaging nakaugat sa pagtatanggol sa demokrasya at panuntunan ng batas. (Richard Mesa)
