MIF, behikulo para maka- attract ng resources para sa social, economic development-Balisacan

SUPORTADO ni Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan ang  Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF).

“With the Marcos Administration’s Economic Team members, I reiterate my strong support for creating the Maharlika Investment Fund as a complementary vehicle to help us attain the objective of rapid but inclusive and sustainable economic development,” ayon kay Balisacan sa isang kalatas.

Sinabi pa ni Balisacan na ang partisipasyon ng investment funds, gaya ng MI, ay maaaring maging behikulo para maka-  attract ng resources.

Binigyang diin pa ni Balisacan ang pangangailangan ng bansa  “to go beyond business as usual and be more ambitious than what has been done in the past decades.”

“The primary consideration here now is our need for vehicles that will attract investment funds which we can use for our development needs,” paliwanag ni Balisacan sabay sabing “We are aiming for a rapid transformation of our social and economic sectors and that will require a lot of resources.”

Habang ang batas ay naipasa na sa third at final reading ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso, masisimulan lang ng Senado na talakayin ang  MIF kapag nagpatuloy na ang sesyon sa Enero.

Tiniyak naman ni Balisacan sa publiko na ang   House version ay mayroong “stringent measures” sa kung sino ang makakasama sa  MIF board na siyang nangangasiwa sa pondo.

Sinabi pa nito na ida-draft ang implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) kapag nalagdaan na ang batas at naging ganap na batas para makapagbigay ng detalye at paglilinaw sa mga probisyon.

“For us, the governance architecture of the fund is properly set in place so that it develops confidence in the investing community not just from government but even pension funds from somewhere if they see that that is a good fund where they could put money, then they could put money and we could use those for our development infrastructure,” ang wika ni Balisacan.

“With sufficient governance safeguards to ensure the fund’s sustainability and responsible management, the proposed Maharlika Investment Fund will help support our country’s infrastructure development,” dagdag na pahayag ni Balisacan. (BISHOP JESUS “JEMBA” M. BASCO)
