Ice Seguerra Returns to Complicated Love in New Single “Sa’yo Bumabalik” (by: ROHN ROMULO)

ICE Seguerra has always had a way of turning quiet emotions into songs that stay. With his newest single “Sa’yo Bumabalik,” the Filipino singer-songwriter and multi-platinum recording artist steps into the ache of a love that refuses to disappear even when walking away seems like the wiser choice.

Released under Fire & Ice Music, “Sa’yo Bumabalik” is the third single from Ice’s upcoming EP, Tamang Panahon. Since its release last Friday, the song has already reached over 20,000 streams, marking a strong early response to Ice’s latest chapter in OPM.

The song also marks another creative collaboration between Ice and his wife, Liza Diño, an emerging songwriter who previously wrote songs for Ice including “Natapos Ang Lahat” and “Ikaw Pala ’Yon” from the Being Ice album. For “Sa’yo Bumabalik,” Diño wrote the lyrics and collaborated with Ice on the song’s music, shaping a track that feels intimate, vulnerable, and emotionally specific.

For Diño, the writing process began with an unusual exercise: imagining what Ice would feel if he were writing a song for her.

“It’s funny how this song came about because I kept asking myself: Kung si Ice ang susulat ng kanta para sa akin, ano kaya ang sasabihin niya? Since he didn’t write the lyrics, I did the next best thing. I became dramatic on his behalf,” shares Liza Diño.

“I tried to imagine what he would feel and what kind of song he would write if it were coming from him. I wanted him to sing something that felt honest in his voice, even if the words came from me. So it was part wife privilege, part songwriter experiment, but mostly love.”

The result is a song about emotional return and the pull toward someone you know you should stay away from, but cannot fully let go of. In “Sa’yo Bumabalik,” the singer finds himself drawn back to a person who still belongs, at least in part, to another life. There is restraint, conflict, longing, and surrender in the story: the recognition that even after trying to leave, the heart keeps finding its way back.

With lines that speak of trying to forget but still choosing the same person again and again, “Sa’yo Bumabalik” captures the emotional gray area between desire and timing, between what is right and what remains true. It is a love song, but not a simple one and that complexity is exactly where Ice’s voice finds its power.

As part of Tamang Panahon, the track continues the EP’s exploration of love, memory, timing, and the different seasons of the heart. It follows Ice’s ongoing return to music that feels deeply personal while still resonating with listeners across generations.

With its warm arrangement, intimate storytelling, and lived-in sincerity, “Sa’yo Bumabalik” is both a continuation and a quiet evolution of Ice Seguerra’s place in OPM: an artist whose songs do not need to shout to be felt.

Listeners can now stream, save, and add “Sa’yo Bumabalik” to their playlists.
