Habagat season simula na – PAGASA

IDINEKLARA ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) na nagsimula na ang panahon ng southwest monsoon o habagat, ayon sa anunsyo ng nitong Sabado, Mayo 30.

Ang Habagat ay tumutukoy sa mainit at mamasa-masang hangin na nagmumula sa timog-kanluran, na nagdadala ng mga pag-ulan sa kanlurang bahagi ng Pilipinas.

“Recent analyses over the past days have shown the presence of southwesterly winds over the western section of the country, and may continue due to the recent development of a tropical cyclone over the Philippine Sea,” ayon sa PAGASA.

“With the intrusion of westerly winds and the progression of the general meteorological pattern across the country, these developments suggest the start of the southwest monsoon (habagat), which is one of the precursors of the onset of the rainy season,” dagdag pa nito.

Hudyat ito na mararanasan na ang paminsan-minsan hanggang sa madalas na pag-ulan, pagkulog at kidlat lalo na sa kanlurang bahagi ng bansa. Maaari ring magkaroon ng monsoon o rainbreak na tumatagal ng ilang araw o linggo.
