Kasama sina Akbayan Partylist Representatives Perci Cendaña at Dadah Kiram Ismula, at kabilang Dinagat Islands Rep.
“February 25, 1986 is more than a date etched in history — it marks the moment when the Filipino people peacefully rose to reclaim their democracy. It stands as a testament to courage, unity, and the enduring power of collective action,” sinabi ni Diokno.
“It is our responsibility to honor this defining moment with the full recognition and dignity it deserves as a regular national holiday,” dagdag ni Diokno.
Naging special non-working holiday noon 2023, regular working day noong 2024, at special working holiday sa 2025 at 2026.
We must end the uncertainty and institutionalize its commemoration once and for all,” pahayag ni Diokno.
Sa ilalim ng HB 7911, inaatasan ang National Historical Commission of the Philippines na manguna sa mga preparasyon at koordinasyon sa mga educational institutions, government agencies at civil society organizations sa mga programa at selebrasyon ng 1986 People Power Revolution.
“Institutionalizing EDSA People Power Day affirms that the spirit of people power remains central to our national identity,” Diokno said. “Democracy survives not by accident, but because the people choose to defend it.” (Vina de Guzman)
