DA, tinitingnan ang P80/kg presyo ng sibuyas ngayong taon

TARGET ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na ibaba ang presyo ng sibuyas ng P80/kg per kilo mula sa P170 per kilo ngayong taon.

Sinabi ni Agriculture Assistant Secretary at spokesperson Kristine Evangelista na inaasahan nila ang  “better supply” ng local onion harvest ngayong taon lalo pa’t hindi nila kinokonsidera ang pag-angkat noong nakaraang taon at naglagay sila ng mas maraming cold storage facilities sa strategic areas na mgpapahaba ng shelf life ng nasabing kalakal.

Gayunman, nais ng DA na magpalabas ang mga onion  farmers ng price points para maging stable ang farmgate prices sa buong taon.

“I hope it will be less than P170. I hope we can see months wherein we see P80. But the thing is, we are also looking at price stability. We’re trying to help our farmers make price points of which that their farmgate prices will be stable.

They know how to spread their losses as well, and to come up with price points that will be stable all throughout the year considering also the cost of cold storage facilities,” anito.

“P170 and even lower is…I think within all throughout the year is something we’d like to achieve,” dagdag na pahayag ni Evangelista.

Sinabi pa ni Evangelista, sa kalagitnaan ng Enero 2023,  umaasa ang DA ng mas mababang presyo ng sibuyas  sa gitna ng pagsisikap na mapabilis ang sapat na suplay nito (sibuyas) sa mga pamilihan at ang inaasahang harvest season.

Magkagayon man, sinabi ni Evangelista na kailangan pa rin nilang magsagawa ng stakeholders meeting bago sila magdesisyon  sa presyo ng sibuyas, sa presyong P200/kg o mas mababa pa.

“January 15 is the start of harvest. Of course the peak is March and April, but with the better supply, then we can see prices going down,” aniya pa rin. (Daris Jose)
