Campus Safety Bill, inaprubahan Ng House Committee on Higher and Technical Education

INAPRUBAHAN ng House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, na pinamumunuan ni TINGOG Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre, ang House Bill (HB) 6649, na nagsusulong sa pagbuo which seeks to create a university-based crime prevention committee (CPC) to ensure the safety and security of the academic community from internal and external threats.

Sina Cagayan De Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez at ABAMIN Partylist Rep. Maximo Rodriguez Jr. ang naghain ng HB 6649 o Campus Safety and Security bill bilang tugon sa insidente ng bayolente sa loob ng campus ng ilang unibersidad at eskwelahan sa bansa.

“Students and their parents should always feel safe and are entitled to have a safe and secure environment when pursuing their studies,” anang awtor ng HB 4469 sa kanilang explanatory note ng panukala.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, isang university-based CPC na bubuuin ang naatasang magpatupad nang mas malakas na university and educational institutional policies on security.

Tinalakay din sa meeting ng komite ang panukalang rebisyon sa charter ng Philippine Normal University. (VINA de GUZMAN)
