House prosecution team, masaya sa galaw at progreso ng impeachment trial kay VP Sara

MASAYA o “very happy” ang House prosecution team sa galaw at progreso ng impeachment trial kay Vice President Sara Duterte, ayon kay Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, spokesman ng grupo.

“We have finally come to a point na assured na tayo that the ball is rolling, ‘ika nga. Tuloy-tuloy. We are very happy that now, ‘yung tinatawag po nating accountability mechanism ng ating Constitution ay gumugulong na,” sinabi ni Adiong sa isang interview.

Bagama’t hindi agad nagkasundo ang prosecution at ang defense panel sa naganap na pre-trial conference sa Senado, sinabi ni Adiong lahat na ito ay pangkaraniwan at inaasahang may tension na mangyayari.

 “I would not even call it tension kasi that’s expected, that’s expected and it’s a usual occurrence naman talaga in a pre-trial conference. (Pero) overall, maganda. We are very happy,” ani Adiong.

Sinabi ni Adiong na inaasahan ng House prosecution team na matutuloy pa ang pre trial conference sa Lunes, June 22.

Ayon kay Adiong, naging dismayado ang prosecution team sa ipinakitang sagot ng depensa sa naganap na pre trial conference. Aniya, imbes na sagutin ang mga akusasyon laban kay Duterte, nakatutok ang depensa sa pagkwestyon sa proseso.

“We are way, way past that stage. Even the Senate, by way of assuming jurisdiction over the Articles of Impeachment, they have already convened as an impeachment court. It only proves to say that that’s already something that is already done, that is already settled,” sinabi ni Adiong.

Ayon kay Adiong, inaasahan ng publiko ang isasagot ni Duterte sa mga akusasyon laban sa kanya sa apat na Articles of Impeachment.

Ito ay ang di wastong paggamit ng confidential funds, di maipaliwanag na yaman, panunuhol o bribery at pagbabanta sa buhay ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., unang ginang Liza Araneta Marcos at dating Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“We were expecting, ang taong bayan, inaasahan ‘yung kasagutan. Ultimately, the people really deserve to know,” sinabi ni Adiong.

Pero ang nangyari, dumikit ang depensa sa kanilang naunang posisyon na kwestyunin ang proseso na sa tingin nila ay may pagkukulang.

“Unfortunately, wala. Mostly, ‘yung kanilang pre-trial brief is again going back to their old narrative na everything is sham because the process by which it was initiated is already questionable,” aniya.

 “Which by the way, is a direct opposite of what they have been saying to the public na ‘ready na kami (defense). We are waiting for the right opportunity, the right forum. We are ready to answer this at the proper forum.’ So, sorry pero frustrated ang taong bayan,” dagdag ni Adiong.
