120 representante, inilunsad ang Bantay Impeachment

MAHIGIT sa 120 representante mula sa anti-corruption watchdogs, civil society organizations, people’s organizations, church groups, youth formations, at concerned citizens nagsama- sama sa Claret School saUP Village, Quezon City upang pormal na ilunsad ang Bantay Impeachment.

Layon nang malawak na citizen watch campaign na maisulong ang accountability, transparency, at public participation sa impeachment proceedings laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.

Ang launching ay kasunod na rin sa lumalaking pangamba ng publiko sa kawalang katiyakan sa impeachment trial, kabilang na ang nagaganap na leadership crisis sa senado at pagtatangka ng ilang political forces para mabinbin o mapahina umano ang constitutional process.

“The impeachment trial is ultimately about the Filipino people’s right to truth, accountability, and justice,” anang mga organizers. “When public funds are misused and public trust is betrayed, it is ordinary citizens who suffer the consequences through inadequate social services, poor governance, and deepening corruption.”

Kabilang sa mga aktibidades na plano ng Bantay Impeachment ay pagsasagawa ng “community forums, campus discussions, daily trial explainers, fact-checking initiatives, livestream analyses of impeachment proceedings, citizen monitoring inside the Senate gallery, and coordinated actions to defend the integrity of the trial.”

Naghahanda rin ang mga ito sa pagsasagawa ng malawakang mobilisasyon sa Hulyo 6, ang takdang pagbubukas ng impeachment trial.

“Bantay Impeachment seeks to bridge the gap between the legal proceedings inside the impeachment court and the everyday struggles of ordinary Filipinos. The public must understand that accountability is not an abstract legal concept. Every act of corruption deprives people of essential services, every abuse of power weakens democratic institutions, and every betrayal of public trust harms the nation.”

Nanawagan din ang grupo sa publiko. organizations, institutions, at concerned sectors na maki-isa sa kampanya at tumulog na bantayan ang pagkakaroon ng pananagutan.

“As the impeachment trial unfolds, we will watch closely, speak out against attempts to undermine the process, and help ensure that truth and justice prevail. Public vigilance is indispensable. Accountability cannot be left to politicians alone—it must be demanded and defended by the people themselves.”
