Petisyong P20,000 GSIS calamity aid, suportado ni ACT Teachers Representative at Deputy Minority Leader Antonio Tinio

BINIGYAN ng buong suporta ni ACT Teachers Representative at Deputy Minority Leader Antonio Tinio ang petisyon ng Alliance of Concerned Teachers para sa pagbibigay ng Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) ng P20,000 calamity aid sa lahat ng disaster-affected members.
“Lubos kong sinusuportahan ang petisyon ng ACT para sa agarang tulong pinansyal sa ating mga kawani ng gobyerno na nasalanta ng sunud-sunod na kalamidad. Ito ang mga taong patuloy na naglilingkod sa sambayanang Pilipino kahit nawalan na ng tahanan, ng ari-arian, at sa ilang kaso, ng mga mahal sa buhay. Nararapat silang bigyan ng tunay na suporta, hindi ng walang kwentang pangako o alok ng mas maraming utang na lalo lang magpapahirap sa kanila,” anang mambabatas.
Ayon kay Tinio, 59 sa 82 probinsiya na naapektuhan ng nagdaang mga bagyo, pagbaha at lindol, kung saan nasa tinatayang 126,000 teachers at education workers ang naapektuhan din ng bagyong Uwan at Tino.
“Our teachers are reporting to damaged classrooms, using salvaged materials to continue educating our children, all while their own homes remain in ruins. Our health workers are treating patients in hospitals that were themselves damaged by disasters. Our government employees across all sectors are keeping public services running despite immense personal losses. This is the time for GSIS to step up and provide real, immediate relief,” saad nito.
Hindi aniya sapat ang loans o payment moratoriums bilang tugon sa mga apektadong government workers.
“Loans are not aid—they are deferred burdens. Payment moratoriums only postpone the problem. What our government workers need right now is immediate cash assistance to repair their homes, replace lost belongings, and restore some semblance of normalcy to their lives before Christmas and the New Year,” pahayag pa ni Tinio.
Bilang isa sa top-earning government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), ang GSIS ay may kapasidad at mandato na makapagbigay ng tulong kapag may kalamidad.
“GSIS has the resources. GSIS has the mandate. What we are asking is for GSIS to fulfill its social security obligations to its members who have faithfully contributed to the system and who now desperately need support. The P20,000 calamity aid is not a handout—it is a rightful benefit that our public servants have earned through years of service and contributions,” giit nito.
Nanawagan naman ito sa kapwa mambabatas na suportahan ang petition at i-pressure ang GSIS na agad umaksyon.
