2nd Bacolod Flood Mitigation Summit, inorganisa ni Rep. Benitez

MAGSASAGAWA ng ikalawang parte ng inisyatibo para sa paglulunsad ng komprehensibong tugon kaugnay sa pagbaha ngayong Miyerkules.

Ayon kay Bacolod lone district Rep. Albee Benitez, importante ang gagawing hakbang “to arrive at real, workable, and future-ready solutions suitable for a thriving and rapidly developing city.”

Ang 2nd Bacolod Flood Mitigation Summit, na inorganisa ni Benitez, ay inaasahang pagkakaisahin ang natalakay ng mahigit isang buwan mula sa isinagawang summit para sa pagbuo ng flood mitigation masterplan.

Ang unang flood mitigation summit ay ginanap noong October 20.

“The masterplan will be the whole city’s blueprint in solving our long fight with flooding. We are proud to note that as we gear toward this, we have involved as many stakeholders as possible—from national government agencies to civil society organizations, and even Bacolodnons themselves,” anang mambabatas.

Sinabi pa ni Benitez na sa gaganaping isang araw na event, patuloy na tatalakayin ang mga binuong matrix na nabuo sa unangbsummit.

Kabilang na dito ang pagtukoy sa problema at panukalang short-, medium-, at long-term intervention.

Inaasahang isusumite ng Bacolod Anti-Baha Alliance, isang citizen-led group, kabilang na ang representante mula sa national government agencies at local officials, ng position papers. DepDev Negros Island Region at iba pang civil society organizations na inaasahang magsusumite ng kanilang synthesis sa natukoy na problema, panukalang solutions, at discussions.

Isang technical working group ang bubuuin para pag isahin ang natalakay sa isang draft ng Flood Mitigation Masterplan.

“Flooding is a problem that faces many of our kababayan, and we hope this summit can offer a blueprint for the rest of the country. We want to show that when a city’s people work together for a common purpose, we can rise above any challenge. Flooding may be a tragic reality of our history and our present—but we should refuse to make it an accepted reality in our future.” pagtatapos ni Benitez.
