QCinema’s RainbowQC Steps into the Spotlight with a Standalone Pride Film Fest This June

For Pride Month this year, QCinema is going all in. What was once just a special section within the festival is now taking center stage. Meet the RainbowQC Pride Film Festival—a newly launched, fully fledged celebration of queer cinema that puts authentic LGBTQIA+ stories front and center.

Happening from June 25 to 27, 2025, at Gateway Cineplex 18 in Gateway Mall 2, Cubao, the festival is part of Quezon City’s official Pride Month celebration. With a handpicked lineup of powerful films from the Philippines and across the globe, RainbowQC invites moviegoers to experience the richness, complexity, and emotional depth of queer lives onscreen.

Leading the RainbowQC program is a must-watch Southeast Asian premiere: The Wedding Banquet, directed by Andrew Ahn. This modern take on Ang Lee’s beloved classic reimagines the story through a contemporary lens, delving into themes of identity, family, and the evolving nature of relationships in today’s world. It’s bold, touching, and bound to spark conversation.

Local storytelling also takes a powerful spotlight with Some Nights I Feel Like Walking, marking its Philippine premiere. Directed by Petersen Vargas and starring a breakout ensemble including Jomari Angeles, Miguel Odron, and Gold Azeron, the film traces the journey of young hustlers who reunite to honor a friend’s final wish. It’s a deeply emotional portrait of chosen families, queer brotherhood, and the search for meaning amidst grief.

Both films are priced at ₱300 per ticket.

The festival also includes stunning international titles, made accessible to local audiences thanks to its cultural partners. These films include:

Cocoon (Kokon) by Leonie Krippendorff – a tender coming-of-age story set in Berlin that captures the nuances of first love and identity.

Consequences by Darko Štante – a gripping Slovenian drama exploring masculinity, power, and desire within a youth detention center.

These screenings are available for just ₱150 each, with support from Goethe-Institut and the Embassy of Slovenia.

MAGLILIWANAG ang Philippine Arena sa darating na Hulyo 5 para sa Puregold OPM Con 2025, isang pista ng musika na kasalukuyang pinasasabik ang karamihan–at inaabangan ng mga fan mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo.

May mga ulat ng mga concert-goer na lilipad mula Singapore at United Arab Emirates, at mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na nagbabalak na umuwi para sa okasyong ito. Ang inaabangang OPM Con ay magiging engrandeng pagtitipon at pagbabalikbayan sa isang malaking pagdiriwang.

Sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Pilipinas, nararamdaman na ang kasabikan para sa festival. Sa mga Puregold branches sa Butuan, Bacolod, at Leyte, agaran ang pagkaubos ng tickets, at kasabay nito ang mga pasaherong nagbu-book na ng mga biyahe, mapa-eroplano o malalayong bus, para makisaya sa makasaysayang pangyayari.

HINDI na “da who?” ang Sparkle artist na si Shuvee Etrata dahil isa siya sa naging paboritong housemate ng maraming netizens sa ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.’

Noong ma-evict sa PBB house si Shuvee kasama ang ka-duo na si Klarisee de Guzman last June 14, ang kanilang duo ang may pinakamalaking fanbase at dinumog nila ang PBB house para salubungin ang paglabas ng SHUKLA.

Ayon sa viewers at netizens, bilib sila sa ipinakitang pagpapakatotoo ni Shuvee at pagiging mahusay nito sa tasks na ibinigay ni Big Brother sa kanila, at isa na rito ang Big Intensity Challenge.

Bago ang PBB, napapanood na si Shuvee bilang segment host sa ‘Unang Hirit’ at lumabas sa 2023 teleserye na ‘Hearts On Ice’ na bida si Ashley Ortega.

MARAMING na-reveal sa buhay ng legendary American singer na si Billy Joel sa HBO documentary na Billy Joel: And So It Goes.

Nag-premiere sa Tribeca Film Festival ang naturang documentary kunsaan inamin ng singer that he suffered a downward spiral in his twenties.

Sikretong nakarelasyon niya si Elizabeth Weber, wife ng kanyang best friend at bandmate na si Jon Small. Nauwi iyon sa pagkasira ng friendship nila, pero nagpakasal sila ni Weber in 1973 and divorced in 1982.

“I felt very, very guilty about the affair. They had a child. I felt like a homewrecker.  I was just in love with a woman. I got punched in the nose, which I deserved. Jon was very upset. I was very upset,” sey ni Billy na naging homeless at naging drug dependent noong mawala ang banda  niya.

Kinasal din si Billy sa ’80s supermodel na si Christie Brinkley in 1985. They divorced in 1994.

At age 76, Billy is suffering from normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a brain disorder that happens when there is too much fluid, cerebral spinal fluid building up. Treatable naman daw ang sakit na ito.
