LTO inatasan ang Regional Directors na tapusin ang pamamahagi ng plaka ng tricycle bago ang Abril 30, 2025

INATASAN ni Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II ang lahat ng mga regional director na tiyaking maipamahagi na ang lahat ng plaka ng tricycle, partikular ang mga ginagamit sa pampublikong transportasyon, bago ang Abril 30 ngayong taon.

Ang kautusan ay inilabas matapos lumabas sa imbentaryo ng mga naimprentang plaka na sapat na ang bilang ng mga ito para sa lahat ng tricycle sa buong bansa. Ang natitirang hamon na lamang ay kung paano ito maipapamahagi sa tamang mga may-ari.

Ipinaliwanag ni Asec Mendoza na kumpiyansa ang ahensya na matatapos ang distribusyon ng plaka ng tricycle sa buong bansa dahil sa malaking pag-unlad sa proseso ng pag-iimprenta ng plaka mula noong nakaraang taon.

“Bahagi ito ng aming catch-up plan para maipamahagi ang mga plaka. Tulad ng aming ipinangako, ginagawa namin ang lahat upang mapabilis ang pag-iimprenta, at masaya naming ibinabalita na nagawa na namin ito. Ang hamon na lamang ngayon ay maihatid ang mga ito sa mga may-ari,” ani ni Asec Mendoza.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa ating DOTr Secretary sa kanyang patuloy na suporta upang masolusyunan ang matagal nang problema sa plaka na nagsimula pa noong 2014,” dagdag niya.

Inutusan na rin ni Asec Mendoza ang lahat ng LTO regional director na gumawa at magsumite ng plano kung paano nila ipapamahagi ang mga plaka sa kani-kanilang nasasakupan.

Binibigyan aniya ng hanggang Enero 27 ang mga LTO Regional Director upang isumite ang kanilang distribution plan. Layunin nitong gabayan sila sa implementasyon base sa mga nakaraang karanasan.

Gayunpaman, binigyang-diin niya ang kahalagahan ng pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga lokal na pamahalaan upang matiyak ang tagumpay ng programa.

“Simula pa noon, malaki na ang papel ng mga LGU sa distribusyon ng plaka. Maging ang mga opisyal ng barangay ay laging handang tumulong. Ang kailangan lang ay maayos na koordinasyon,” ani Asec Mendoza.

Ang distribusyon ng plaka ng tricycle ay bahagi ng pagsisikap ng LTO na resolbahin ang backlog ng plaka ng motorsiklo bago ang Hulyo ngayong taon.

Naayos na ang backlog ng mga plaka para sa mga sasakyang may apat na gulong noon pang Enero ng nakaraang taon.

Binigyang-diin din ni Asec Mendoza ang kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng wastong plaka ng mga tricycle, bilang bahagi ng solusyon sa problema sa mga kolorum na tricycle sa mga bayan at lungsod.

Sa Quezon City, halimbawa, nagpasalamat ang lahat ng Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) kay Asec Mendoza matapos masolusyunan ang backlog sa mga plaka. Naipamahagi ang mga ito sa tulong ng LGU ng Quezon City.

Bunga nito, sinabi ng mga opisyal ng TODA na lubos na gumanda ang kanilang kita dahil nabawasan na ang mga kolorum na tricycle.

“Hangad naming maipakalat ang mabuting halimbawa sa Quezon City sa buong bansa. Sa tulong ng LGU, hindi lang natin malulutas ang backlog kundi pati na rin ang problema sa mga kolorum na tricycle,” ani Asec Mendoza. (PAUL JOHN REYES)

ISANG 49-anyos na lalaki na kabilang sa Most Wanted Person ng Northern Police District (NPD) ang arestadi nang matunton ng pulisya sa kanyang tirahan sa Caloocan City, kamakalawa ng hapon.

Tinangka pang isarang muli ni alyas “Paul” ang pintuan ng tinutuluyang bahay sa Kaagapay Road, Brgy. 188 nang matunugang mga pulis ang kumakatok at pinagbuksan niya ng pinto pero nabigo na siya dahil naging alisto ang mga tauhan ni P/Col. Edcille Canals, ang bagong upong hepe ng Caloocan City Police.

Iprinisinta kaagad ng mga operatiba ng Sub-Station-14 ng Caloocan police kay alyas Paul ang warrant of arrest na inilabas nito lang Lunes, Enero 13, 2025, ni Caloocan Regional Trial Court (RTC) Presiding Judge Rose Sharon Santiago Cordero-Abila ng Branch 129 dahil sa kasong paglabag sa Article 266-A ng Revised Penal Code o Rape.

Ani Col. Canals, walang piyansang inirekomenda ang korte para sa pansamantalang paglaya ni alyas Paul na ngayon ay naka-detine sa Tala Police Sub-Station-14 habang hinihintay pa ang paglalabas ng kautusan ng korte para sa paglilipat sa kanya sa Caloocan City Jail.

Pinuri naman ni NPD Acting District Director P/Col. Josefino Ligan ang mga operatiba ng Caloocan police sa mabilis na pagkakadakip sa akusado na aniya ay patunay sa kanilang pangako na dakpin ang mga wanted na kriminal upang mapanatili ang katahimikan at maging ligtas sa anumang panganib ng bawa’t komunidad. LUNGSOD NG MALOLOS– “In for a treat” ang mga bisita ng Sto. Niño de Malolos Grand Exhibit mula sa lahat ng sulok ng bansa sa pagkakaroon ng pagkakataon na matikman ang masasarap na lutong Bulakenyo at makapamili ng kakaibang produkto sa Tatak Bulakenyo/BUFFEX Trade Fair sa pangunguna ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan sa pamamagitan ng Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) at ng Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) mula Enero 16 hanggang 23 na magdaragdag ng kulay sa selebrasyon.

Matatagpuan sa matingkad na kapaligiran ng Kapitolyo, sa harapan ng Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium at Regional Trial Court, ang pinagsamang trade fair na binubuo ng 46 exhibitors mula sa panig ng Tatak Bulakenyo at 28 exhibitors naman sa panig ng BUFFEX.

Sa kanyang mensahe sa pambungad na programa, idiniin ni Gobernador Daniel R. Fernando ang kahalagahan ng Sto. Niño sa buhay ng mga Pilipino at mga Bulakenyo.

Buong pagmamalaki din niyang ipinakita ang kanyang sariling itinatanging imahe ng Sto. Niño, isang pamana ng pamilya na nasa kanyang pangangalaga, kasama ng nasa 500 iba’t ibang imahe na representasyon ng Batang Sanggol mula sa buong bansa.

Quezon City LGU pasok na sa R-Cities

PASOK na ang Quezon City sa Resilient Cities Network.

Ito naman ang sinabi ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte kung saan sumali ang lungsod sa R-Cities para mapalakas at tumibay pa ang lugar sa gitna ng banta ng shocks.

Ayon kay Belmonte, maaring maging biktima ang lungsod ng heatwaves, baha, bagyo, traffic congestion, informal settlements at polusyon.

Nasa tatlong milyon ang populasyon sa Quezon City.

Bilang tugon sa mga hamon, sinabi ni Belmonte na nagtayo ang lungsod ng Enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) at kauna-unahang Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department sa buong bansa.

“Quezon City, like many other cities in the Philippines, is vulnerable to extreme heat, tropical cyclones, and flooding. Unfortunately, these weather conditions are mostly felt by low-income and vulnerable communities. Since the worsening climate crisis gravely affects lives, health, livelihood, and community, the local government must be at the forefront of efforts to mitigate these impacts and create a sustainable, livable, and resilient city for everyone,” pahayag ni Belmonte.

Kasama sa R-Cities ang may 100 lungsod sa mga lugar ng Paris, Cape Town, New York City, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, at Singapore.

Team Sonic

Since the first film, Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) has evolved from an alien outsider looking for connection to a member of a close-knit family and a hero in the making. Keanu Reeves as Shadow

“Shadow was introduced in a game called ‘Sonic Adventure 2,’” notes director Jeff Fowler of the movie’s new antagonist. “He quickly became every bit as popular as Sonic. He’s stronger than Knuckles, and faster than Sonic. That sets the table for an amazing rivalry.”

On Keanu Reeves (The Matrix, John Wick film series) voicing the fan favorite character, the director couldn’t have said it better: “It is a perfect match. Shadow is John Wick in hedgehog form, which is a total contrast with Sonic.”

Jim Carrey’s double duty as Ivo and Gerald Robotnik

In bringing back Jim Carrey for Sonic 3, it was important to give him a great arc that covers the three films, says producer Toby Ascher. And that arc includes Carrey playing his old character Ivo Robotnik and Ivo’s equally treacherous 110-year-old grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, the engineer of Shadow’s evil intentions. The producers decided that no one could play Gerald better than the man who plays his grandson.

Fortunately, Carrey was up for the challenge. “It’s one of the most special parts of the movie,” says producer Neal Moritz. “When I watch the two of him in scenes together, I literally feel like I’m watching two different people.”

More action!

An antagonist that’s faster than Sonic and stronger than Knuckles, and assisted by not one but two Robotniks. Super-powered action sequences. Fights in outer space. “With each film, we want to raise the bar on spectacle and action set-pieces that really live up to what the games have established,” says Fowler. “We will always stay faithful to the things fans love, though, because they are the reason we’re here today.”

The films, which combine animation and live-action, have one significant advantage over pure live-action, according to co-writer Pat Casey. “We can go so big,” he explains. “In live-action, if you want a helicopter crash, the producers might say we can’t afford that. But on this movie, we could do anything, including blow up the moon! Jeff’s a visual genius so we can be sure that whatever we write, he will make it look awesome. We decided to send Sonic not just around the world but into space. The things that happen would be impossible in a live-action movie, but thanks to the genius of visual effects, Jeff, and a talented stunt team, it came out great.”

Adds Carrey, “This thing is so huge, you won’t believe it’s about a hedgehog. But you can’t argue with the fan base. If it’s hedgehogs they want, it’s hedgehogs they’ll get.”

Comedy and humor

Co-writer Josh Miller says another key to the popularity of the films is the balance he and Casey strive to strike between fun and action. “A sweet spot that blends them both is always on our minds when we get together with Jeff and the producers to plan a new story,” he says. “Anthropomorphic animals lend themselves to humor, but we have to make the jokes good while still taking the story seriously. It’s important to find ways to have big, exciting, colorful action equal to what you see in big special effects movies — but always hang on to that inherent silliness.”

In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. SB19 fans, puwede nang mag-refund: REGINE, inaming na-disappoint na ‘di matutuloy ang guesting ni STELL

“WELL I’m a little disappointed but……..

see you guys,” ito ang Instagram post ni Asia’s Songbird Regine-Alcasid last Wednesday dahil sa isang nakaka-sad na balita.

Hindi na kasi matutuloy ang guesting ng SB19 member na si Stell Ajero sa series of Valentine concert na “RESET” na gaganapin sa Samsung Performing Arts Theater sa Circuit Makati sa February 14, 12, 21, at 22.

Marami kasing na-excite sa magiging collab sana nina Regine at Stell on stage sa isang gabi ng concert.

In-announce pa ni Regine sa naganap na mediacon ng magiging special guest niya si Stell sa February 21.

Naglabas na ng official statement ang producer ng “RESET” na si Cacai Velasquez Mitra ng iMusic Entertainment (iME), na hindi na nga tuloy ang guesting ng SB19 member at isa sa mga coach ng “The Voice Kids” sa GMA.

“Miscommunication” at “scheduling conflict” ang ibinigay na dahilan ng producer sa naturang isyu.

Kasabay nito, humingi ng paumanhin ang iME sa lahat ng bumili ng tickets na looking forward sa pagsasama nina Regine at Stell on stage.

“We regret to inform you that Stell, who was scheduled to perform at our upcoming concert, RESET, on February 21, 2025, will not be able to attend due to a scheduling conflict.

“This unforeseen issue arose from a miscommunication by our production manager. Unfortunately, we were unaware of this situation at the time of the press conference and announcement.

“It was only afterward that all parties involved were able to resolve the misunderstanding regarding the scheduled guest appearance.

“We understand that many of you were looking forward to seeing Stell perform live with Regine at the concert, and we share in your disappointment.

“Please know that we are equally saddened by this unexpected change and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

“In light of this situation, we are committed to ensuring a fantastic experience for all attendees. We will offer refunds to any fans who purchased tickets in the hope of seeing Stell perform live with Regine.

“Please note that only tickets purchased from the time of the press conference announcements up until today (January 14-15, 2025) are eligible for a refund for the February 21, 2025 show.”

Nadadamay sa problema sa basura: ISKO, angat pa rin sa survey at posibleng makabalik sa Manila City Hall

ISA sa matunog na tatakbong kunsehala sa district one sa Tondo, Manila ay ang social media personality, negosyante, at tumatakbo na si Rosemarie Tan Pamulaklakin o Rosmar.

Ilang days after filing her candidacy ay panay ang ikot ni Rosmar sa Tondo pero lately ay hindi na siya visible particularly sa district kung saan siya tatakbo.

Matandaang last election ay sa Sampaloc area tumakbo and Luz Valdez bilang kunsehala pa rin si Rosmar.

Tatakbong independent si Rosmar na naging matunog ang pangalan months ago pero sana sa actual filing period sa March ay isa sa anim na papasok sa survey si Rosmar.

Mas pinagkaabalahan pa yata ni Rosmar ang pag-iikot sa Bulacan at sa iba pang lugar kaysa Tondo kung saan marami anc naghahanap sa kanya.

Pero ang latest dalawang buwang buntis ang negosyante.

At kailangan daw niya munang magpahinga kahit nasa maayos siyang kalagayan pati na ang baby sa kan/iyang sinapupunan.

Nag-spotting kasi si Rosmar kamakailan lang at itinakbo sa emergency room ng ospital.

“Regarding sa post ko na nagpunta ako sa ER. Nagulat ako na nag-trending na naman. ‘Di lang siguro clear ang post ko kaya na-misinterprent na naman ng iba,” saad ni Rosmar sa post niya.

“Mismong ospital ang nagsabi na pwede lang magpa-ultrasound kung magpapa-ER ako,” dagdag pa niya.

Ayon pa rin kay Rosmar siya raw mismo ang nag-request na magpa-ultra sound

“kaya ako nag pa ultrasound nung araw na un dahil may ‘spotting’ ako at buntis ako. Kahit sino naman sigurong nanay o buntis kung may spotting dederetso agad ng ER at gusto makita kung safe ang baby sa tyan at kakabahan lalo na kung first trimester and that day ko lang din nakita na may baby na at may heartbeat na,” banggit pa rin niya.

Sa isa pang post ni Rosmar ay ipinakita niya ang resulta ng ultrasound sa kanya na nasa maayos na kondisyon ang anak nila ng asawang si Jerome Pamulaklakin.

“I Love You baby bunso. Buti nalang malakas si mommy at di para magpa apekto sa mga taong malulungkot ang buhay. Bubuo tayo ng masaya at kumpletong pamilya,” lahad pa rin ni Rosmar.

STILL on politics, matunog pa rin ang labanang Isko Moreno at Honey Lacuna.

Ang problema sa basura sa buong Maynila ang isyu ngayon sa dalawang mahigpit na magkakalaban.

Sa nakaa-angat sa mga surveys na si Yorme Moreno isinisi ni Mayora Honey ang naging problema ngayon na basura sa Maynila.

Pero ayon pa rin sa kampo ni Yorme bakit after two years nang nakaupo sa City Hall si Mayor Lacuna ay idinawit pa raw nito si Yorme sa problema sa basura.

Pero sa totoo lang, dahil sa basura, na sinasabing naging basurero ang isang Isko Moreno ang naging daan ng dating mayor sa showbiz at napasok sa mundo ng pulitika.

Hindi kaya dahil din sa problema sa basura ay maibalik muli ang Manila City Hall kay Yorme.

“Wolf Man” pays homage to classic monsters and body horror with its practical and visual effects

BRINGING the Wolf Man to life is a monumental feat, and wanting to honor the original 1941 classic of the same name, director Leigh Whannell channels inspiration from horror history. “If you think about that look that was created for Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein in 1931 or Lon Chaney’s Wolf Man in 1941, those were things that audiences had never seen,” Whannell says. “Those images have lasted because they’re so striking. Anybody dealing with monsters today lives in the shadow of these artists. Every makeup artist whose name is etched into the Hall of Fame—from Rick Baker and Rob Bottin to Stan Winston and Jack Pierce, all these artists have created something brilliant that sticks in your mind.”

Wolf Man follows the Lovell family as Blake Lovell, patriarch of the family, slowly transforms into the iconic monster as his wife Charlotte and daughter Ginger try to survive the night and go through the turmoil of watching a loved one transform into a beast on the hunt.

As the film features such an enduring horror icon, Whannell pays tribute to 80s monster horror. The team applied as many practical effects as possible to keep it grounded and visceral. “When you’re working in supernatural horror, a lot of the horror is implied,” Whannell says. “It’s what you can’t see that’s scary. I wanted to make my own version of a creature feature. This film is my tribute to the ‘80s movies I loved growing up—ones that were driven by practical effects and told horror stories that were creative in their use of bodily morphing. In The Thing and The Fly, CGI was not yet an option.”

In the film, the main character, Blake Lovell, has no clue that he is transforming through the night. That type of body horror, and the fear of painful and terrifying anatomical changes is what director Whannell leaned into. As his skin begins to scale and his extremities elongate, our hero grows in confusion. “Blake loses his ability to understand what human beings are saying,” Whannell says. “Blake’s vision changes, then the physical changes begin, and his vision begins to alter. His skin morphs: his fingernails and teeth come out. It’s a tribute to body horror. That’s one of the great sub-genres of horror that I love. Our bodies are the source of all our pain, as well as our joy.”
