Obiena may bagong event

Posted on: September 5th, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“I am truly sorry for this. I and the organizing team worked tirelessly to make this happen; unfortunately, we encountered a few unexpected hurdles, including my fractured vertebrae,” ani Obiena.

“The organizing team believes that we won’t be able to adequately deliver the competition to its full potential. I respect their view and expertise as we all want a world class event; thus, we are forced to postpone and plan again,” dagdag ni Obiena.

“See you all on the 15th of September at 10am in the Ayala Malls Manila Bay Activity Center,” dagdag ni Obiena.

REACTIONS ARE IN! CRITICS ARE SINGING PRAISES OF “BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE”

Posted on: September 4th, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

THE wait was worth it.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” director Tim Burton’s follow-up to his 1988 classic horror-comedy “Beetlejuice,” had its world premiere on the opening night of the Venice Film Festival on August 28 – 36 years after the first movie was released.

The long-in-the-works sequel, which screened out of competition, delighted the audience and earned a nearly four-minute standing ovation for Burton and his cast – led by Beetlejuice himself Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, both also reprising their roles in the original, and new cast members Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.

Watch the trailer: https://youtu.be/4kv5AC2po5A

“It’s truly exciting to see Burton’s return to form, making something both grotesque and funny,” wrote Collider. “He appears to be energized and having fun, something we haven’t seen in quite a while.”

The Hollywood Reporter lauded Burton and the cast: “The zippy pacing, buoyant energy and steady stream of laugh-out-loud moments hint at the joy Burton appears to have found in revisiting this world, and for anyone who loved the first movie, it’s contagious. That applies also to the actors, all of whom warm to the dizzying lunacy.”

In their review, Time magazine wrote, “The movie carries you along on its wriggling magic carpet of mayhem – and features one sequence of creepy-elegant-funny cracked poetry that’s classic, old-school Burton.” They also praised Keaton’s portrayal once again of the ghost with the most and said seeing the actor in full costume again as Beetlejuice was “like greeting a decrepit, kvetching old friend, the kind you keep around just for entertainment value. Michael Keaton clearly adores this character; once again, he pours pure love into Beetlejuice’s maniacal, depraved soul.”

Deadline Hollywood had a great time watching the movie, which they described as “a blast just to watch” and “funny, all the time.”

Empire magazine gave a special mention to Burton’s much-loved “freak flag.” “The film is strongest when it remembers it’s a Tim Burton film and has license to get weird,” said Empire in their review.

“While it’s slicker and less homemade-feeling than the 1988 vintage, there are still flashes of B-movie brilliance: a stop-motion animation sequence, some delightful shrunken-head prosthetic effects, and two demented birth scenes with the most ghoulish prosthetic baby this side of ‘American Sniper.’ It’s moments like this, when Burton lets his freak flag truly fly, that ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ earns its stripes.’

In “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice,” three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy. Still haunted by Beetlejuice (Keaton), Lydia’s (Ryder) life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid (Ortega), discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem. The sequel’s screenplay is by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Wednesday”), story by Gough and Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith (“The LEGO® Batman Movie”), based on characters created by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson.

Posted on: September 4th, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“It’s always been worth it naman. Of course, it’s tiring physically but the mere fact that you’re blessed with work and you are able to do all those things in a short span of time, nakakatuwa rin kasi at least na cover ko siya, nagawa natin siya kahit marami tayong ginagawa on the side,” lahad ng aktor.

“I felt a little bit sentimental, of course, with the place and ang haba ng time na magkakasama kami doon.

“This project has a higher calling for all of us eh. Parang nakakahiya na hindi mag-perform. Hindi naman pwedeng i-take for granted ‘yung chances namin na every scene that we do is a part of Philippine history being told to the audience,” paliwanag ni Alden

“My favorite is always sisig. Sisig with garlic rice is a good combination. And, I wanna try lutong bahay, home-made food,” sey pa niya.

Bukod sa pagkain, nagustuhan din ni Kim Ji-soo ang mainit na klima ng Pilipinas: “I’ve been here for a couple of months since I started ‘Black Rider. I really love the Philippine weather, the hot weather.”

Posted on: September 4th, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

Lahad ni Richelle, “We have a lot of partnerships with Korea, so we have businesses in real estate, in aviation and defense with a lot of our Korean business partners.

“So we were introduced also to the retail sector, and that’s when BB.Q Chicken was introduced to us, because BB.Q Chicken is, I think, in almost 60 countries and then 4,000 restaurants now worldwide.

“So they wanted to enter into the Philippine market, and then they also said that the chicken market here is very lucrative, so that’s why we said, okay, let’s bring BB.Q Chicken in here.”

“Not as much, but I watch a little bit.”

“Yeah, we met him, and he promotes BB.Q Chicken, I’m familiar with his movies and series.”

My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho’ (2010), ‘The King 2 Hearts’ (2012), A Korean Odyssey (2017–2018), Vagabond (2019), Mouse (2021) at The Law Cafe (2022).

“I was surprised because he’s very humble,” bulalas ni Richelle.

“Mga Korean, kasi napakabait nila, hindi sila arrogant, so they’re very respectful, he was like that when I met him, when we met him.”

“Eventually, yes. So for example, we had a campaign on introducing local chefs to mix it with our menu sa BB.Q [Chicken] so si chef Tatung Sarthou, who’s a local chef, nag-create siya ng parang adobo burger for BB.Q Chicken, so it was a collaboration.

“So, we’re starting to localize our menu, and then eventually, we will also have a local celebrity endorser,” wika pa ni Richelle.

“All of the shops are very successful. We are targeting to build around three hundred restaurants in the next five years,” dagdag pang sinabi ni Richelle nang nakausap namin sa opening ng bago nilang BB.Q Chicken branch sa Festival Mall sa Alabang.

“There’s no point e, kasi we’re just fully supportive naman of Miss Universe and there are people in place already running it.

“Pero anytime that they need help, we’re always just there to assist them and support them, connect them to whatever sponsors that they need.

“We’re still very much involved, just not a formal responsibility, kasi mahirap din yung responsibility that they have e, they have to mount so many shows, they have to make sure they sell to so many sponsors, event production is very hard.”

Posted on: September 4th, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

(Daris Jose)
