Posted on: August 2nd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

Rachael Marguerite Del Mar, LRay Villafurte, Rodge Gutierrez, Zia Alonto Adiong, Manuel Jose Dalipe, Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, Brian Yamsuan, Rufus Rodriguez, Joel Chua, Salvador Pleyto, Romeo Acop, Midy Cua, Antonio “Tonypet” Albano, at iba pa.

Posted on: August 2nd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

(Daris Jose)

Posted on: August 2nd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

Lahad ni Alden, “Si David, ito talaga, siguro sa aming lahat si David yung pinakamalaki yung itinalon in terms of performance, in terms of portraying his character!”

“Iyon yung masarap sa pakiramdam na lahat kami nagwo-work, lahat kami nagtatrabaho, so with his performance and kapag nakaka-eksena ko siya, dumating nang prepared,” ani Alden.

“The Philippines has a lot of stories to tell, not only sa ating mga Pinoy, but also to the whole world and our culture is very colorful. We are such resilient individuals,” wika ni Alden.

Kuwento ni Marthena, “Actually, I applied kasi abroad din ng college and I got accepted.

“Pero iniisip pa rin ni Mama na, ‘You’re still my baby girl.’

“Siyempre, andun yung emotional attachment, which I one-hundred-percent understand, ganun.

“Pero I know naman to myself na where I am now is exactly where I need to be.”

“At least, I get to have a glance on those areas all at once,” saad ng dalaga ni Aiko..

May plano ba siyang pumasok ng showbiz?

“Right now it’s not my focus. Parang hindi pa ako masyadong out of my shell for that kind of stretch out of my comfort zone,” wika ni Marthena.

“Since now volleyball is now booming in the Philippines, actually, worldwide, sobrang laki ng volleyball ngayon. “And it’s so nice to see throughout the years, it’s not just a sport, it’s more of like a passion na rin for others.”

Posted on: August 2nd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

DA, naglunsad ng P45/kilo ‘Rice-for-All’ program

Posted on: August 2nd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“Rice under the Rice-for-All program will initially be sold at P45 a kilo. It will be adjusted depending on the movement of rice prices but it will definitely be lower than retail prices in general,” ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.

“President Marcos wants to ensure that every Filipino has access to affordable food during these trying times,”ayon sa Kalihim.

“In line with this, we will continue to expand the Kadiwa network and make available more basic goods to the general public,” ang sinabi pa rin ni Tiu Laurel.

“Both the P29 Rice and Rice-for-All programs are designed to make this essential staple more accessible and affordable for every Filipino, in line with President Marcos’ vision of ‘Walang magugutom sa Bagong Pilipinas,” ayon kay De Mesa. (Daris Jose)

Highly-awaited cinema release of Japan’s blockbuster hit “Look Back” to debut nationwide in PH cinemas

Posted on: August 2nd, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

The wait is over! The anime adaptation of Look Back, from Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto will have a Philippine release on August 28.

Yūmi Kawai (Plan 75) and Mizuki Yoshida (Alice in Borderland) lend their voices to lead characters Fujino and Kyomoto, respectively.

An endearing and tearjerker film on the beauty of friendship that had fans and critics alike raving when it was released in Japan, Look Back is the anime film adaptation of a one-shot manga that tells the story of two small-town girls Fujino and Kyomoto, who are polar opposites of each other. Fujino is overly confident, and in contrast Kyomoto is a shut-in, but their shared love for drawing manga brings them together. The coming-of-age film is animated by Studio Durian, founded by Kiyotaka Oshiyama, who helms Look Back as its director.. Under Oshiyama’s impressive list as an animator are films and series such as The Boy and the Heron, Devilman Crybaby, and Flip Flappers.

The original Look Back manga was critically acclaimed and highly popular in Japan, reaching over 4 million reads within two days of publication. In Japan, the movie adaptation has grossed more than 1 billion yen in less than 20 days.

Screen Rant raves about the film’s quality in animation, direction, and writing in their review. “In many ways, Look Back does an even better job of showing off Tatsuki Fujimoto’s talents than the Chainsaw Man anime did, and it’s already an easy contender for the best anime film of 2024 , if not the best-animated film of 2024, overall,” they write.

But Why Tho puts the emphasis on the emotional depth of Look Back, writing, “While I cried when reading Fujimoto’s original manga, I felt myself weeping even more while watching the Look Back anime.” They go into further detail, ‘The score and the small movements of wind that carry their connection through time and space feel gargantuan even within the small scale of the film. From the four-panel comics being animated to the main story itself, the animation captures whimsy, melancholy, and romance. It’s a unique atmosphere that almost defies explanation, much like Fujimoto’s manga.”

Go on an emotional journey as Look Back opens in Philippine cinemas on August 28.

GMA Public Affairs’ first investigative docu film “Lost Sabungeros” marks world premiere at Cinemalaya

Posted on: August 1st, 2024 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

HIGHLY regarded for its award-winning documentaries, GMA Public Affairs is taking the genre to another level as it presents its first-ever investigative documentary film, “Lost Sabungeros” – set to premiere at the 2024 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival this August.

Directed by Bryan Brazil, “Lost Sabungeros” aims to investigate and find answers regarding the disappearances of over 30 sabungeros who have been abducted in various incidents since 2021.

When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all cockfighting arenas in the Philippines, the century-old gambling bloodsport moved online and grew into a money-making machine overnight, creating instant millionaires. But things took a shocking turn when more than 30 men disappeared without a trace. In nine months, groups of cockfighters disappeared in three major arenas, while others were abducted in their homes or on the road. Months after the serial disappearances, not one has been found—dead or alive.

“Lost Sabungeros” documents some of the lives of people whose world has been turned upside down because of the bloodsport.

One of them is a father who has been a longtime sabungero. He has built his empire around cockfighting. Little did he know that the world he has been living in would cost him the life of his son, who was a driver for cockfighters.

Meanwhile, a woman watches as her partner, an e-sabong agent earning millions, gets snatched away right in front of her.

The team behind the docu-film also meets another woman whose brother works as a gaffer in a cockfighting arena. One day, her brother disappears with no trace. She later discovers her brother’s belongings inside an abandoned van.

“Lost Sabungeros” is one of the most dangerous and courageous investigative documentaries that GMA Public Affairs has produced to date. Reports of unidentified individuals observing the team and case studies during filming have surfaced. The families of the missing sabungeros are understandably cautious, expressing concerns for their safety and the potential risk of being targeted for abduction.

Despite these perils, they still choose to come forward, disregarding potential threats and peril. They want to uncover the truth behind the disappearances of their loved ones in what has been described as a “perfect crime” by no less than a Philippine Senator.

(The process of creating the documentary was not easy, the team spent several years following the characters in their search for their loved ones. In my view, it is crucial for our fellow citizens to watch the film, as it explores not just the story of cockfighters but also exposes the long-standing issues of our country — the lack of justice and the culture of impunity that often victimizes the poor and voiceless.),” Brazil said.

Brazil is a homegrown GMA Public Affairs executive producer and director who has already won in the New York Festivals for his work in “The Atom Araullo Specials,” “Stand For Truth,” and “Brigada.” He also directed the EBS International Documentary Festival Winner “My Little Dancing Shoes,” which won the Tokyo Doc’s ‘Colours of Asia 2018’ Award.

The highlight of “Lost Sabungeros” is the three whistleblowers who came forward to share their knowledge about the crimes allegedly committed by those who abducted the missing sabungeros.

Produced by GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures, “Lost Sabungeros” will premiere at the 20th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival on August 8, 5 PM, at Ayala Mall Manila Bay Cinema 2.
