HUMATAW sa TV ratings ang pagsisimula ng groundbreaking live-action adaptation ng GMA na “Voltes V: Legacy!”

Maliban diyan, kaliwa’t kanan din ang papuri ng diehard at new generation fans para sa megaserye! Marami ang humahanga hindi lang sa world-class visual effects nito kundi pati na rin sa mas pinalalim na kuwento ng bawat karakter.

MABAIT na madrasta si Ara Mina dahil sa pagsama nito sa kanyang mister na si Dave Almarinez para um-attend ng debut ng anak nitong si Kirsten sa Vancouver, Canada.

Si Martha ang oldest-ever cover model ng naturang magazine na nag-launch sa ilang mga kilalang supermodels ngayon tulad nila Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bunchen at marami pang iba.

Suot ni Martha sa cover ay one-piece white Monday Swimwear na may orange cover-up by Torso Creations. Nagpakita ng confidence si Martha na mag-pose seductively para maging inspiration siya ng mga kababaihan na kaedad niya.

Noong i-launch sa Today show ang pag-unveil ng cover ni Martha, natuwa ito sa kinalabasan ng pictorial session nila.

“I like that picture. But it was odd to be photographed in swimwear in front of all those people, but it turned out okay. When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on the cover of Sports Illustrated. And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic.”

VP Sara Duterte, magsisilbing ‘game changer’ kontra communist terrorist group – NTF-ELCAC

KUMPIYANSA ang National Task Force to end local communist and armed conflict na magsisilbing ‘game changer’ si Vice President Sara Duterte para sa magiging transition ng kanilang stratehiya sa paglaban kontra sa communist terrorist group sa Pilipinas.

Ito ay matapos na italaga ang Bise Presidente bilang Co-Vice Chairperson ng NTF-ELCAC na malaki aniya ang magiging papel sa pagtupad sa kanilang mandatong labanan ang mga komunistang teroristang grupo sa bansa.

Ayon kay Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya, inaasahang isa sa mga mahahalagang papel ni VP Duterte ay ang pagbibigay ng guidance sa mga ahensyang nasa ilalim ng NTF-ELCAC mula sa kaniyang mga naging karanasan bilang alkalde noon ng Davao City na isa sa mga insurgency free places ngayon sa Pilipinas.

Bukod dito ay muli ring binigyang-diin din ng opisyal na malaking bagay din ang maitutulong ng pagiging kalihim ni Duterte bilang kalihim ng kagawaran ng edukasyon para mapalakas ang proteksyon at seguridad sa mga paaralan sa bansa upang mapigilan na ang ginagawang recruitment activities ng mga miyembro ng New Peoples Army sa mga eskwelahan.

Kung maaalala, una nang inanunsyo ng NTF-ELCAC na magpapalit sila ng estratehiya mula sa dating warriors of peace tungo sa pagiging bringers of peace, alinsunod na rin sa utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Na mas mapayapa at nagkakaisang pagtugon sa communist terrorist groups sa bansa.

Pag-angkat ng 150K metric tons ng asukal, kailangan para matugunan ang posibilidad ng kakulangan – PSA

NAGPALIWANAG ang sugarcane regulatory Administration sa pangangailangang mag-angkat ng asukal mula sa ibang bansa.

Kahapon nang opisyal na inaprubahan ni Pangulong Marcos ang pag-angkat muli ng 150,000 metrikong tonalada ng asukal dahil sa posibilidad ng kakulangan sa mga darating na buwan.

Ayon sa SRA, magkakaroon ng negative ending stock ang bansa ng hanggang sa 552,835 metrikong tonelada pagsapit ng Agosto 2023. Ito ay kasabay na ng pagtatapos ng milling season.

Kung hindi mag-aangkat ang bansa ng sapat na supply ng asukal, tiyak umanong kukulangin na ang supply nito sa merkado.

Batay sa pagtaya ng SRA, maaaring abutin lamang sa 2.4 Million metric tons ang local production ngayong taon, na pinapaniwalaang kukulangin para tugunan ang pangangailangan ng mga consumer sa bansa.

Paliwanag ng SRA, ang 150,000 metriko tonelada ng asukal na aangkatin ay maaaring madamit upang pantustus sa anumang kakulangan ng supply nito sa mga merkado.

LAST Saturday, May 13, itinanghal na Miss Universe Philippines 2023 si Michelle Marquez Dee, na magiging pambato natin sa Miss Universe sa gaganapin sa El Salvador bago matapos ang taon.

At ilang araw, pagkatapos nang pinag-usapan na pagkasungkit ng korona, nag-post si Michelle ng winning moment photos, na kung saan in-explain kung bakit niya napiling irampa ang black gown na gawa ng pamosong fashion designer na si Mark Bumgarner sa coronation night ng beauty pageant.

Panimulang caption ni Michelle, “Mark said it best: An evening gown with restraint.

Pagpapatuloy pa niya, “In pageantry, every queen’s goal is to stand out and wow the crowd. One of the best ways to do that is to wear a gown that looks and feels like the ‘winning look’ for the night, full of anything that would add shimmer, shine and extravagance.

“Mark and I had a different vision. We didn’t want to go the typical ‘pageant patty’ route. We wanted an iconic masterpiece that would bring out my best assets and to stay true to who I am: daring, elegant, fierce – and of course in my color, BLACK.”

KULONG sa Senado ang pulis na dawit sa nakumpiskang 990 kilo ng shabu matapos patawan ng contempt ng Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs.

Hindi nagustuhan ni Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa ang tila pag-iwas sa katanungan ni PNP-Drug Enforcement Unit Special Operations Unit chief Capt. Jonathan Sosongco, kaugnay sa pagkakasamsam ng 990 kilo ng shabu na nagkakahalaga ng P6.7 bilyon.

Sa pagdinig ng komite, hiniling ni Dela Rosa kay Sosongco na ibigay sa kanya ang numero ng kanyang impormante matapos tumanggi ang ibang pulis na sangkot sa mga operasyon na tumanggap ng tip sa 990 kilo ng shabu.

Sinabi ni Sosongco na wala na ang teleponong ginamit niya sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa impormante.

“Your honor, wala na po ‘yung cellphone ko na gamit po…’Yung cellphone na ginagamit sa trabaho hindi naman ito ang ginagamit. Wala na, your honor,” ani Sosongco.

Dahil dito, hiniling ni Dela Rosa kay Sen. Robin Padilla na gumawa ng mosyon para i-cite ng contempt si Sosongco.

“Sobra na itong panloloko na ginagawa sa atin dito. Nauubos na ‘yung oras natin dito,” ani Dela Rosa.

Witness-suspects vs Teves, ‘umaatras’

BIGLA umanong nanahimik ang mga testigong suspek laban kay suspended Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves, Jr. dahilan para muling maantala ang paghahain ng kasong murder sa kongresista.

Sinabi ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na ang muling ‘delay’ sa pangako nilang pagsasampa ng kaso kahapon ng Lunes ay dahil sa pagtanggi nang makipagkooperasyon ng mga nadakip na witness-suspects.

Nang madakip ang mga suspek may 12-14 araw makaraan ang pagpaslang kay Governor Roel Degamo at siyam na iba pa, nakapagbigay sila ng pahayag sa mga prosecutor at sa mga imbestigador ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Tinutulungan sila noon ng mga abogado ng Public Attorney’s Office.

Ngunit biglang nagkaroon na ng mga pribadong abogado ang mga witness-suspects at inabisuhan na manahimik at huwag nang magbigay ng pahayag.

Dahil dito, napilitan ang mga imbestigador na balikan ang kanilang mga naunang pahayag at pag-aralan ang mga rekord ukol sa case building.

“So, we were able to build the case. We were able to get the facts within our knowledge and that went very well. We were able to charge them,” pagtitiyak ni Remulla.

“Some of them have refused to speak already and issued another statement. We suspect they will be changing statements later on, and make recantations of sorts,” ayon pa sa kalihim.

Nananatiling tiwala naman si Remulla sa kaso nila laban kay Teves dahil sa mga naunang pahayag. Sinabi pa niya na maaaring masampahan na ng kaso ngayong linggo si Teves na kabibilangan ng 10 bilang ng murder, ilang bilang ng frustrated murder at attempted murder. (Daris Jose)

GLOBAL ACTION ICON WU JING IS BACK IN THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED PREQUEL “THE WANDERING EARTH II”

Action icon Wu Jing has been very busy.

This month, the prolific Chinese actor, director and martial artist (“Wolf Warrior” films, “Shaolin”) will be seen in “The Wandering Earth II,” prequel to the 2019 futuristic blockbuster “The Wandering Earth.” Given the fate of Jing’s character in the first movie, it would have been impossible to include him in a second movie but fortunately, director Frant Gwo came up with the perfect solution. “Wu provided us with a lot of selfless help in the first installment,” said Gwo in an interview with China.org.cn. “I wanted to show gratitude to him, but I didn’t want to write some unconvincing plot about his resurrection. So, I said, let’s do a prequel.”

In an interview with Chinese paper Global Times to promote the first film, Jing said he hoped that “The Wandering Earth” would spark children’s interest in science. Having young children of his own, it’s no surprise that Jing wanted to be part of the prequel, too.

In “The Wandering Earth II,” after learning that the sun is rapidly burning out and will obliterate Earth in the process, humans build enormous engines to propel the planet to a new solar system, far out of reach of the sun’s fiery flares.

However, the journey out into the universe is perilous, and humankind’s last shot at survival will depend on a group of young people brave enough to step up and execute a dangerous, life-or-death operation to save the earth.

The film, to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures exclusively in cinemas in the Philippines on May 31, also stars international star Andy Lau.

Besides the highly anticipated futuristic prequel, Jing will star in another fan-favorite follow-up, “Meg 2: The Trench,” in cinemas August 2.

Directed by Frant Gwo, with a screenplay by Frant Gwo and Gong Ge’er, “The Wandering Earth II” (a prequel to the 2019 futuristic blockbuster “The Wandering Earth”) is based on the book by Liu Cixin.

75 NA IMMIGRATION OFFICERS, NAGSIPAGTAPOS

MAY kabuuang 75 na panibagong batch ng mga Immigration Officers ang nagtapos sa ilalim ng Bureau of Immigrations (BI) Philippine Immigration Academy (PIA).

Ang mga nagtapos na mga BI Immigration ay pormal na kikilalanin sa isang graduation ceremony sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

Sinabi ni BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco na ang 75 ay sumailalim sa isang makabagong fast-tracked course na naglalayon na maibigay ang ” brief and concise learning experience” para sa mga bagong IO’s na magsisilbing frontliners sa mga paliparan.

Lahat ng immigration officers ay sumailalim sa pagsasanay sa ilalim ng BI-PIA kabilang ang immigration laws, rules, and procedures. Matatagpuan ang academya sa Clark, Pampanga, pero ang mga bagong officers ay nagsanay sa NAIA para sa mas holistic at on-the-ground training.

Ang mga bagong IO’s ay sinanay sa pinakabago at tamang kaugalian sa immigration industry at maaari silang mai-deploy pagkatapos ng kanilang kurso.

Ang mga bagong nagtapos ay binubuo ng 22 babae at 63 na lalaki at dinaluhan ni Secretary of Justice Jesus Crispin Remulla, bilang guest of honor at speaker.

“I am proud to have been given an opportunity to address you this morning,” ani Remulla sa kanyang talumpati. “Soldiers you are, warriors you are, but given a task sometimes called so mundane, but actually very significant at a time when terrorism other crimes have crossed borders without limit. Ayon kay Tansingco, ang karagdagan na mga personnel ay dagdag sa pangangailangan sa airport at iba pang sangay ng BI.

“As we continually recover from the woes of the Covid-19 pandemic, we need a new breed of officers to cope with the increasing volume of passengers,” ayon sa BI Chief. “We also trust that through this action, we strengthen our drive to combat human trafficking and thwart the entry of unwanted aliens in our borders,” dagdag pa nito.

Halos 60K Pinoy nagbenepisyo sa P400 milyong medical assistance – PCSO

IBINAHAGI ng Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) na hindi bababa sa 60,000 Pilipino ang nakinabang sa mahigit P400 milyon na inilabas ng ahensya sa tulong medikal sa unang quarter ng 2023.

“Nasa 60,779 kababayan natin ang natulungan sa kanilang gastusing pang-medikal, na umabot sa P410,427,957.55 na inilabas ng PCSO sa pamamagitan ng Medical Access Program,” ani PCSO Chairman Junie E. Cua.

“Asahan po ninyo na tuluy-tuloy lang ang PCSO sa adhikain nitong matulungan ang sambayanang Pilipino. Paiigtingin pa natin ang serbisyo para mas marami pang kababayan natin ang makinabang,” dagdag pa ni Cua.

Ayon sa PCSO, ang Medical Access Program (MAP) ay sumasaklaw sa iba’t ibang mga request para sa fund augmentation para sa mga medical concerns tulad ng confinement, dialysis injection, paggamot sa kanser, hemodialysis, laboratoryo, diagnostic, at mga imaging procedures, gayundin sa implant at mga medikal na kagamitan, atbp.

Anila, ang MAP ay kinuha mula sa Charity Fund na binubuo ng 30 porsiyento ng mga net receipt, at eksklusibong ginagamit upang pondohan at suportahan ang mga programang pangkalusugan, tulong medikal, mga serbisyo, at mga kawanggawa na may national character.

Ang PCSO ay kumakalap ng mga pondo sa pamamagitan ng mga sweepstakes, karera ng kabayo, lottery at mga kahalintulad na aktibidad.

Nagpahayag si Cua ng positibong pananaw na ang ahensya ay makakapaglingkod sa mas maraming Pilipino ngayong taon at lalampas sa mga numerong naitala nito noong 2022 kung saan nakapaglabas ang PCSO ng P1,395,310,206.43 sa 210,731 benepisyaryo.
