PBBM, ikakasa ang Digital Media Literacy drive kontra fake news

Posted on: March 13th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments
Against Fake News: Being Smart, Being Safe and Staying Ahead! Ensuring Women and Girls a Safe Online Experience,  isang side event sa 67th Session ng United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) sa UN headquarters sa  New York.
“Backed by the budgetary support from the Philippine Congress and its confidence in the leadership of the PCO, we took the opportunity to develop mechanisms through which we can bring the online experiences of females  of all ages into focus,” ayon kay Manao.
Sinabi pa ni Manalo na  “crucially, in this age of plenteous and insistent information, the rights of women and girls continue to be undermined by disinformation and misinformation.”
“The PCO, therefore, is positioning itself as a pillar that upholds the rights and welfare of women and girls through a Digital Media Literacy Campaign that will focus on our most vulnerable communities,”  ani Maralit.
“Taking a context-based and factual grassroots approach, we intend to reach out to, and equip, these communities with knowledge and skills and tools that will enable them to be discerning of the truth as they engage in various social media channels and platforms,” dagdag na pahayag ni Maralit.
“We will work to improve the citizenry’s ability to think critically and analyze information. The first step towards this end is identifying reliable and credible sources of information,” ani  sabay sabing wish o hangad ng tanggapan na makamit ang “goal with both sensitivity, balance and respect for constitutional rights.”
Sinabi pa ni Maralit na masusing pag-aaral  ang isasagawa ngayong buwan sa buong Pilipinas, ito’y sa pamamagitan aniya ng “thorough study will be conducted this month throughout the Philippines, which seeks to refine the target communities where media literacy is most needed; determine the social media platforms through which these communities are most susceptible to fake news; and identify the contents and topics on which these misinformation and disinformation focus.”
“The study also hopes to identify the profiles of fake news peddlers; understand the influences that open these communities to deceptions and understand the practices and habits of the target communities that create the opportunities for exposure to disinformation and misinformation,” ayon sa ulat.
“When we have gathered the results of this study, expectedly by the middle of this year, we will be implementing a nationwide media literacy campaign that will focus on the areas identified,”ang pahayag ni Manalo.
“The measures seek to institutionalize the effort of our Department of Education to include Media and Information Literacy (MIL) as a core subject in the current curriculum of basic and secondary education,” ayon kay Maralit.
“The PCO shall work with the public [education] sector to help address these challenges,” anito.
“We need the help of MIL experts, specialists, and established organizations to lend their strengths and help us in achieving the kind of Filipino society we wish to see where all are free to realize their best,” diing pahayag ni Manalo. (Daris Jose)

Posted on: March 13th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

Now, I’m back Dabarkads.”

Gets?

NAGSIMULA nang mapanoodang “Hearts On Ice” na first team-up nina Ashley Ortega at Xian Lim.

“So, kapag sumemplang, pag-aaralan din namin how we get up and do it again,” paliwanag ni Ashley.

Salamat din kay Skye Chua, a professional figure skater and member of the Philippine national figure skating team.

“Lahat ng makakaya naming gawin as of now pa lang, ginagawa na namin like ‘yung hospital bag niya, saka siyempre all the leaves at saka ‘yung mga advanced na materials that we need to shoot para tuloy tuloy pa rin yung social media namin kahit nagpapahinga siya,” sey ni Juancho.

Inamin ng Sparkle actor na may kaba siya dahil father of two na siya.

“Trying to gather myself pa lang. Sinabi sa’kin ng mentor ko na kapag isa pa lang ‘yung anak n’yo, two on one kayo. Pero ‘pag dalawa na, man to man na ‘yan,” tawa pa niya.

Sey ni Vin: “Ishi-share ko lang, para you get a glimpse of how me and Kylie, our relationship is. We bring our children sa mall to play as a date. We go out like that. And also si Kylie, noong nakatira ako kay kuya and Kylie was always on my brother’s place, naging close na kami.

“Kung ano man ang nangyayari sa kanila I got so hurt with that. I got so affected. But kung ano man ang nangyayari sa kanila, wala kaming ilangan ni Kylie. We’re close. Masaya. I mean it’s a good way din to, ‘di ba? Get all the things behind us.

“Sophie is the best woman I could think of. She’s so smart, so polite, she makes me feel like I’m so secure. Kaya I’m doing my best talaga to be someone na deserve niya. There’s a reason for everything that I do now.

Napakasarap. It’s so rewarding.”

Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto Meets Working Group for the Manila Film Festival

Posted on: March 11th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

MANILA Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto met the technical working group of The Manila Film Festival (TMFF) recently, to discuss the preparations for its upcoming launch during the Araw ng Maynila celebration in June this year.

The February 23, 2023 meeting that was held at the Vice Mayor’s office discussed, among other matters, the timelines for the TMFF including the submission of screenplays. And even if final dates have yet to be established, target dates for the review of the screenplays submitted by the various participating schools, up to its screening in Manila theaters during the Araw ng Maynila celebration this year were discussed.

According to Nieto, the Festival aims to inspire the Manilenos, especially the young cinematography enthusiasts, to use and engage their talents in developing Filipino films for screening every time the City of Manila commemorates its founding anniversary.

(We would like to give more essence and fun to the upcoming Manila Founding Anniversary celebration through the smooth re-launching of the Manila Film Festival), Nieto who is an award winning actor himself said.

A project of Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto in cooperation with Artcore Productions, the revitalized Manila Film Festival, a program that was started by then First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos during the early 70s but was shelved when the Metro Manila Film Festival was organized, will  be an added feature to this year’s celebration of Araw ng Maynila.

Posted on: March 11th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“The Social Weather Survey of December 10-14, 2022… found 48% of adult Filipinos saying the Philippine Economy will improve (termed by SWS as ‘Economic Optimists’), 33% saying it will stay the same (‘Neutral’), and 9% saying it will worsen (‘Economic Pessimists’) in the next 12 months,” wika ng SWS.

“It has been at excellent levels since December 2021, ranging from +40 to +50. It used to be mediocre -9 in July 2020, mediocre -5 in September 2020, and high +24 in November 2020, during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic,” paliwanag pa ng survey firm.

Posted on: March 11th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

“This is a very big achievement for all of us, because this is our very first house na kami talaga ‘yung may ari.

So, feeling ko I’ll be spending a lot of time there.”

“Pag nakita mo ako Tito Boy, for sure nakikita mo pala ako when I was 14. I was so thin, sobrang payat ko, iba pa hitsura ko, iba pa ang porma ko. The way akong magsalita iba pa.

“Pero tingin ko sa sarili ko sobrang pogi ko, like yung confidence level ko like out of this world.

“Parang sila, ‘Huh, bakit mo kami nililigawan?’

TBA Studios Brings Singaporean-South Korean Film “Ajoomma” To PH Cinemas

Posted on: March 11th, 2023 by @peoplesbalita No Comments

TBA Studios is bringing the lighthearted family drama Ajoomma to the Philippines and opens in cinemas on March 15.

Singaporean filmmaker He Shuming’s feature debut film, Ajoomma, tells the story of a middle-aged, Korean-drama-obsessed widow from Singapore who travels out of the country for the first time to Seoul, and ends up getting lost. Her journey becomes an unexpected road of self-discovery, as she comes to terms with the life she truly wants for herself, beyond her roles of daughter, wife, and mother.

He shared that the story is inspired by his own mother’s fascination with Korean dramas.

“While the premise seems to be timely given the popularity of Korean pop culture sweeping through all of Asia and beyond, it merely serves as an undertone for the film, which is about a middle-aged Singaporean woman learning to navigate life beyond her duties as a mother, a housewife, and a caretaker,” the director added.

The film stars veteran Singaporean actress Hong Huifang as the titular ‘ajoomma’ (Korean for middle-aged ‘auntie’) and is supported by a cast of well-known South Korean actors like Kang Hyung Suk (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha), senior actor Jung Dong Hwan (Uncontrollably Fond, Hotel del Luna), and Yeo Dong Hwan (Moon Embracing the Sun and Hotel del Luna) in a special guest role.

Ajoomma had its world premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival last October 2022. Since then, the film has racked up numerous awards and recognitions, including four nominations at the 59th Golden Horse Awards. It was also selected as Singapore’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards.

Ajoomma is produced by Cannes award-winning director Anthony Chen (ILO ILO) and has the distinction of being the first film to be co-produced between Singapore and South Korea. According to Chen, the film “reflects the unique way that Korean pop culture resonates with audiences across Asia and the world.”

TBA Studios’ President and COO Daphne Chiu share the same sentiment.

“Filipinos are very passionate about Korean culture and media. We feel that audiences here especially women of all ages would be able to relate to this film. It’s a heartwarming story perfect for families.”
