Third party, hindi puwedeng makialam sa pinagtatalunang WPS- Tsina

HINDI nagustuhan ng Chinese government ang kauna-unahang joint drills ng Pilipinas at Indian navy sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Sinabi ni Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun na walang third party ang dapat na makialam sa ‘territorial at maritime rights issues’ sa pinagtatalunang katubigan.

Ani Jiakun, “Disputes over territory and maritime rights and interests should be settled through negotiation and consultation by countries directly concerned, and no third party is in any position to interfere in that.”

Sa ulat, mula araw ng Linggo hanggang Lunes ay nagsagawa ng bilateral maritime cooperative activity (MCA) sa WPS para palakasin ang kanilang ‘tactical coordination at joint maritime capability.’

“First time in history, na nagkaroon tayo ng joint sail with the Indian Navy. We are hoping na magtuloy-tuloy ito, so that, mas madami pa tayong gagawing mga exercises and activities with the Indian Armed Forces,” ang sinabi ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr.

Sa isang makasaysayang inisyatiba na layong patatagin ang kooperasyong pangdepensa at panseguridad sa rehiyon, magkatuwang na isinagawa ng AFP ang kauna-unahang Bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) noong Agosto 3 — 4, 2025.

Saklaw ng aktibidad ang mga katubigang mula Masinloc, Zambales — Cabra Island sa Occidental Mindoro bilang pagpapakita ng lumalalim na ugnayang panseguridad ng 2 bansa sa Indo-Pacific region.

Kabilang sa mga yunit ng Philippine Navy na kasama sa naturang aktibidad ang BRP Jose Rizal (FF150), BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06), isang Search and Rescue (SAR) aircraft mula sa Philippine Air Force (PAF), at isang C-208B reconnaissance aircraft.

Nag-deploy naman ang Indian Navy ng isang matatag na maritime task group na binubuo ng guided missile destroyer na INS Delhi (D61), anti-submarine warfare corvette na INS Kiltan (P30), at fleet replenishment tanker na INS Shakti (A57). ( Daris Jose)
