Sa gitna ng flood control mess: gobyerno, ‘very, very stable’- ES Bersamin

PINANINDIGAN ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin na “stable” ang gobyerno sa kabila ng alegasyon ng ghost at substandard flood control projects na yumanig din sa lehislatura.

“Very, very stable. Because alam mo yan, internal dynamics lang yan. Normal sa atin yan. There were eras or periods in our history that there were more supposedly perceived to be destabilizing but I don’t see any threats,” ang sinabi ni Bersamin sa isang panayam.

Umiwas naman si Bersamin na sagutin ang tanong hinggil sa pagkakadawit ng pangalan ng ilang mambabatas sa sinasabing di umano’y pagkubra ng kickbacks.

“We will leave that to the respective houses of Congress to evaluate what they have been receiving from their resource persons,” ayon kay Bersamin.

Sa kabilang dako, maaaring mayroong iaanunsyo ang Pangulo ukol sa independent commission na magiimbestiga sa flood control projects.

“Yung independent commission, we may have some word from the President yet because he just arrived yesterday,” aniya pa rin.

“I am not sure about that” naman ang sagot ni Bersamin nang tanungin kung kasama si Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong sa komisyon.

At sa sundot na tanong kung ang komisyon ay kompleto na, ang tugon ni Bersamin ay “Wala pa. We have to be quiet about that because the President has to give us the updates.”

Wala namang nakikitang problema si Bersamin kung ipagpapatuloy ng Kongreso ang imbestigasyon nito kahit pa magsimula na ang independent commission sa trabaho nito.

“Walang problema yun. Kasi our independent commission, if it ever comes out, may be about fact-finding lang. Now we all want all sectors of the Philippine society to contribute to the effort to find the facts about these issues on flood control anomalies.” aniya pa rin.

“As soon as possible. The President sees the urgency of doing many many things all at once,” dagdag na wika ni Bersamin.

Samantala, inurirat din si Bersamin kung isasama ang mga proyekto ng nakalipas na administrasyon sa iimbestigahan ng komisyon, ang sagot ni Bersamin ay “Alam mo, mahirap natin sabihin na will it include, etc. because, you know, this is a national concern. So, anything goes. Kung mayroon magsu-surface na issue, maybe that commission may address that issue. But we all have to look at the fact finding that it’s yet to happen.
