Ramirez maayos na iiwan ang PSC

SA HUNYO ay magtatapos ang termino ni William ‘Butch’ Ramirez bilang chairman ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at sa kanyang apat na Commissioners.

Kaya naman nagpaalam na siya kina PSC Commissioners Ramon Fernandez, Celia Kiram, Charles Maxey at Arnold Agustin pati na sa Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), mga sports associations at mga national athletes. “I’ve been 15 years and I take that spirit that both sacrifices and successes I have and I take pride,” ani Ramirez. “That’s why I said there is a song that goes like it’s really time to go, it’s really time to go.”

Si Ramirez lamang ang tanging PSC chairman na dalawang beses nagsilbi sa sports agency.

Sa pamumuno ng dating men’s basketball team head coach at Athletic Director ng Ateneo de Davao University ay dalawang beses naghari ang Team Philippines sa Southeast Asian Games noong 2005 at 2019.

At sa kanyang liderato ay nakamit ng bansa ang kauna-unahang Olympic gold medal sa pamamagitan ni national weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz. “Beautiful to win medals, gold, silver and bronze, but there is no exchange of values, character, that is the fire brand of humanity to make this country strong. And it’s important that our youth will see that among the national elite athletes and our leaders.”
