Philhealth payment exemptions sa mga OFWs, isinulong

ISINUSULONG ni re-elected Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang panukalang i-exempt ang milyong Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), land o sea-based, sa pagbabayad ng premium contributions sa Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

Kasama sa mga awtor ng House bill no. 2 sina Tingog Party-list Reps. Jude Acidre at Andrew Julian Romualdez co-authored the bill with the House leader from Leyte.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na layon ng panukala na palakasin ang healthcare system upang makamit ang mas maging episyente at mapabuti pa ang public health emergency preparedness.

Aamyendahan ng panukala ang Republic Act 11223, o “Universal Health Act.”

Bukod sa pagbibigay exemption sa mga migrant workers sa pagbabayad ng PhilHealth premiums, nakapaloob sa probisyon na ang hulog para sa kontribusyon ay babayaran ng tigkalahati ng national government at employers.

Kailangan ding maglagay ang PhilHealth at Department of Health (DOH) “to include a mechanism for lowering premium contribution in the implementing rules and regulations of this Act.”

Umaasa sina Romualdez na ang panukalang pagbabago sa Universal Health Care Act ay tutugon sa “gap, uncertainties, challenges, and flaws in achieving its intended results.”
