UMAASA si Pangulong Rodrigo Roa  Duterte ng pagkakaisa at patuloy na panalangin para sa paggaling ng sangkatauhan.

Ito ang bahagi ng mensahe ni Pangulong Duterte ngayong Pista ng Itim na Nazareno.

“Although we may not be able to take part in the usual Traslacion activities that have marked the celebration for centuries, let us keep on demonstrating our faith by praying for our country’s recovery and for humanity’s complete healing, especially from the ill effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,”ayon sa Pangulo.

“As a predominantly Catholic nation, may we remain united in spirit and in truth as we continue to build a future that is truly blessed with peace, prosperity, love and goodwill for all,” dagdag na pahayag into.

Ang Pista ng Itim na Nazareno ay ipinagdiriwang ngayong araw ng Linggo, Enero 9.

Subalit, dahil sa pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 cases, ang taunang Traslacion, prusisyon ng imahe ng Black Nazarene mula Quirino Grandstand papuntang  Quiapo Church, ay kanselado.

Nauna nang hinikayat ng Pangulo ang suspensyon ng mass gatherings kabilang na ang tradisyonal na Traslacion at misa para sa  Black Nazarene, bunsod ng tumaas na COVID-19 infections sa bansa.

“This venerated religious tradition, which commemorates the transfer of the image of Jesus Christ from its original place in Intramuros to its current shrine in Quiapo, is also a precious time for every devotee to understand the value of suffering and its saving grace,” ayon sa Chief Executive.
