Pagpapatuloy ng visa-on-arrival scheme, hinirit para sa mga Chinese nationals

SUPORTADO ng Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) ang pagpapatuloy ng visa-on-arrival scheme para sa mga Chinese nationals.

Tinukoy ang potensiyal na paghikayat  para mamuhunan sa bansa, ayon kay ARTA Director General Ernesto V. Perez sa sidelines ng isang  forum na inorganisa ng German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry sa Makati City.

Sa ulat, pinalutang ng Arta ang panukala matapos na makatanggap ang ahensiya ng reklamo mula sa  Chinese Embassy.

“If we want to encourage investment, we should make it easier for (investors) to come in,” ayon kay Perez.

We recently received a complaint from the Chinese Embassy that before you can come here … you have to apply with our consular offices. It takes three or four months to get even an appointment,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

Nais naman ng ARTA na makipagpulong sa Department of Foreign Affairs at Bureau of Immigration hinggil sa nasabing usapin.

“How can investors come in when we make it difficult for them to come in and to even acquire a visa? That is one thing that ARTA is also looking into,” ayon kay Perez.

Samantala, ang  visa-on-arrival program  ay nagsimula noong 2017 na  pinahintulutan ni dating Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre.

Isang circular  ang ipinalabas matapos konsultahin ang Tourism department, dinisenyo ito para i-promote ang turismo.

Sinuspinde naman ng gobyerno ang  visa-on-arrival privileges noong Enero 2020 kasunod ng outbreak  ng  coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. (Daris Jose)
