Paglagda ni PBBM sa Eddie Garcia Law na magbibigay proteksyon sa mga manggagawa entertainment industry, ikinatuwa ni Speaker Romualdez

IKINATUWA ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang paglagda ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos sa Eddie Garcia Law, na magbibigay proteksyon sa mga manggagawa sa movie, television at entertainment industry.

“The tragic loss of Eddie Garcia, a beloved icon in our film and television world, underscored the urgent need for stronger protections for our industry workers. His legacy has inspired us to take action and ensure that no worker has to face unsafe working conditions,” anang speaker.

Ayon kay Romualdez, ang Republic Act 11996, o “Eddie Garcia Law,” ay isang pangako sa mga actors, crew members, at mga nasa idustriya na mabigyang proteskyon sa kanilang trabaho.

Nagkaisa aniya ang Kongreso na ipasa ang panukala sa paniniwala sa importansiya ng dignidad ng bawat mangagawa.

“The entertainment industry is a vital part of our culture and economy, and it’s high time we ensure that those who work tirelessly to entertain us are given the respect and security they deserve,” dagdag nito.

Inaprubahan ng Kamara ang House Bill 1270, o Eddie Garcia Act, sa ikatlo at huling ppagbasa noong Pebrero 2023.

Nilagdaan naman ni Presidente Marcos ang consolidated bills sa RA 11996. (Vina de Guzman)
