Pag-Abot Program na naglalaan ng short-term at long-term assistance hinikayat ni Speaker Romualdez na palawagin

HINIKAYAT ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na palawigin ang Pag-Abot Program na naglalaan ng short-term at long-term assistance sa naninirahan sa kalsada at disadvantage families, at mabigyan ang mga ito ng pangkabuhayan at buhay na may dignidad.

Ang panawagan ay kasunod na rin sa ginawang pamamahagi ng DSWD ng ilang farming implements sa 521 Aeta families sa Barangay Maruglo, Capas, Tarlac, bilang bahagi ng patuloy nitong pagbibigay tulong sa mga indigenous people na maging self-reliant at iwasan ang pamamalimos sa kalsada partikular kapag panahon ng Kapaskuhan.

“The Pag-Abot Program is a critical social safety net that fills gaps in our poverty alleviation measures. It is also proof of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s strong commitment to eradicate poverty in line with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” ani Romualdez.

Binanggit nito ang Executive Order No. 52, series of 2024, na nilagdaan ni Presidente Marcos noong January 18, 2024, para sa Pag-Abot Program bilang susi sa inisyatibo ng gobyerno na maipaabot ang tulong at suporta sa mga vulnerable, disadvantaged, at hard-to-reach populations sa bansa.

Bahagi ng ibinigay na suporta ng DSWD sa pamilya Aeta ay 50 kalabaw, 10 hand tractors na may trailers, 9 mini-tiller cultivators, 10 grass-cutters, 10 water pumps, 33 knapsack sprayers, 6 power sprayers, 4 mini palay threshers, at 3 rice mills.

Bukod pa ito sa 91 kalabaw na una nang ipinamahagi ng ahensiya sa pamilyang Aeta ni-rescue na nagpunta sa Metro Manila noong December 2023.

“These farm implements for our Aeta brothers and sisters in Tarlac are not just tools to till the land. They are also symbols of hope—hope that with hard work and determination, supported by responsive government programs, a brighter future is within reach for their families and communities,” pahayag ni Speaker.

Pinapurihan naman nito ang liderato ni DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian sa pagsisiguro na matukoy ng Aeta community ang kinakailangan nilang tulong. (Vina de Guzman)
