NEW CHRISTMAS VIDEO FROM DISNEY UK HITS CLOSE TO HOME

THE video marks Disney’s partnership with the charity Make-A-Wish.

We’re still a bit over a month away from Christmas, but Disney UK has already made us feel all warm and nostalgic with their new Christmas advertisement! Released just today, the 3-minute video has quite a number of elements that will feel very familiar to us, Filipinos.

As soon as the video opens, you’d instantly recognize the Filipino elements in the video — from the parol hanging in the street and the man shouting “Balot!” in the background to the way the little girl did the mano when she greeted her father.

The girl then receives a small Mickey Mouse doll from her father, something which she kept even years after.

Fast forward to 2005, the girl, who’s now a lola living overseas, gifts the same doll to her granddaughter on one particular Christmas. As the girl grows up, though, the grandmother starts to see their relationship growing more and more distant.

That is, until, the girl — who’s now a young-adult — surprises her with a display of parol at home and the same Mickey Mouse doll she grew up with.

The animation marks Disney’s 40- year partnership with the charity Make- A-Wish. It features the song “Love is A Compass,” performed by the UK artist Griff, which is available for purchase. 100% of the proceeds from the track will be going towards Make-A- Wish organizations.

Disney fans can also purchase the same Mickey doll shown in the video online. Proceeds will also be donated to Make-A-Wish organizations. (ROHN ROMULO)
