Magsasaka, magsasagawa ng sariling State of the Peasant Address (SOPA)

TATAPATAN ng Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) at iba pang grupo mula sa agriculture at fisheries sector at food security advocates ang State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni Pangulong Marcos ng sarili nilang State of the Peasant Address o SOPA.

Ang SOPA ay taunang forum na ginagawa para ihayag ang sitwasyon, isyu at kahilingan ng mga magsasaka, mangisngisda, agricultural workers at peasant women.

Nakatakdang ihayag ng mga ito kung bakit nananatiling paatras umano ang domestic economy, agricultural, at service-oriented.

“The government must be decisive enough to resort to radical and bold economic reforms to uplift agriculture and foster the creation of jobs for Filipinos,” ani KMP leader at dating agrarian reform secretary Rafael Mariano.

Kabilang dadala ang mga magsasaka mula sa Central Luzon, agrarian reform beneficiaries mula sa Hacienda Tinang, fisherfolks at iba pang sector. (Ara Romero)
