James Gunn Confirms ‘Supergirl Teaser Trailer Release Date

THE first Supergirl teaser trailer is officially on its way as Milly Alcock’s DC Universe adventure gets closer to its 2026 release. The Girl of Steel will finally be getting her own solo film for the first time since 1984, as Kara Zor-El will be the next Kryptonian to get the spotlight in James Gunn’s DCU Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters.”As the year gets closer to its end, audience members will soon get a full look at the upcoming superhero film. Gunn confirmed that the Supergirl teaser trailer will be released this week. Alcock first made her debut in the DCU franchise in 2025’s ‘Superman’ movie, starring David Corenswet, where she showed up at the end as Supergirl. During her scene, Kara arrives at the Fortress of Solitude to pick up her dog, Krypto, who will be part of her solo film.The Supergirl cast finished principal photography in May 2025, as the film was directed by Craig Gillespie. The screenplay was written by Ana Nogueira, who is also penning scripts for DC Studios’ Wonder Woman and Teen Titans.The Supergirl movie is based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s popular Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic series, as the film will explore a rougher take on Krypton’s last daughter. King, who also co-created DC Studios’ Lanterns, also worked on the movie adaptation as a creative architect.The DCU installment will also see one of the big stars from the DCEU movie timeline make his debut in the franchise, as former Aquaman actor Jason Momoa will bring Lobo to life in the Supergirl film. ‘Supergirl’ arrives in theaters on June 26, 2026.
