DTI, ipinag-utos ang price freeze sa mga basic good sa oil spill-hit areas

IPINAG-UTOS  ng Department of Trade and Industry  (DTI) ang  price freeze sa mga pangunahing bilihin sa mga munisipalidad na apektado ng oil spill sa Oriental Mindoro.

Ipinalabas naman ng DTI MIMAROPA ang  price freeze bulletin  matapos ang  oil spill mula  MT Princess Empress Oil Tanker sa Balingawan Point na kumalat sa kalapit-lugar.

Idineklara naman ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 6290-2023, ang mga munisipalidad ng  Pola, Naujan, Pinamalayan, Gloria, Bansud, Bongabong, Roxas, Mansalay, at Bulalacao sa Oriental Mindoro sa ilalim ng state of calamity.

“Pursuant to Section 6 of RA 7581 or the Price Act as amended, the prices of basic necessities under DTI’s jurisdiction are automatically frozen at their prevailing prices effective March 6, 2023, but not more than 60 days,” ayon sa DTI.

Sa kabilang dako, ikinokonsidera naman ng DTI ang mga

– canned fish at iba pang marine products

– processed milk (evaporated, condenses at powdered milk)

– coffee

– laundry detergent/soap

– candles

– bread (tasty and pandesal)

– iodized salt

– instant noodles

– bottled water

bilang mga “basic necessities:”

“Violators may face imprisonment for a period of 1 to 10 years or a fine ranging between P5,000 to P1 million or both,” ayon sa DTI.

“DTI Oriental Mindoro is conducting intensified price and supply monitoring,” ayon pa rin sa DTI.

Samantala, sinabi naman ng  Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na  may mahigit na 150,000 katao ang apektado ng malawakang  oil spill. (Daris Jose)
