Dating Speaker Martin Romualdez, tinitiyakna haharapin ang kasong plunder

TINITIYAK ni dating Speaker Martin Romualdez na haharapin ang kasong plunder na isinampa laban sa kanya ng Office of the Ombudsman sa Sandiganbayan, ayon sa Atty. Ade Fajardo, tagapagsalita at abogado ng kongresista. 

“We respect the courts and the legal process. (Leyte) Representative Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez will face the allegations against him in accordance with law. We recognize the public interest surrounding this case,” sinabi ni Fajardo sa isang pahayag.

Ayon kay Fajardo, nakikiusap si Romualdez na huwag siyang bigyan ng special treatment kaugnay sa kinakaharap nitong kaso.

“He asks only for the same due process and fair hearing guaranteed to every Filipino. Katotohanan, ebidensya, at patas na proseso ang dapat manaig,” sabi ni Fajardo.

Ito ang ipinalabas na pahayag matapos kasuhan ng plunder si Romualdez ng Ombudsman sa Sandiganbayan nitong Lunes kaugnay sa kickback scheme sa multibillion-peso flood control projects.

Bukod kay Romualdez, kabilang sa mga kinasuhan sina former Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co, Joselyn Serenio at Felicito Guevarra. (VINA de GUZMAN)
