Bersamin, itinanggi na tumanggap ng ‘kickbacks’ mula sa DPWH infra projects

“NOT TRUE.”
Ito ang mariing tugon ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin sa akusasyon na tumanggap ng ‘kickbacks’ ang Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) mula sa Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) infrastructure projects.

Sa ulat, nabanggit kasi ni dating DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, sa pagpapatuloy ng pagdinig ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hinggil sa di umano’y anomalya sa flood control projects, na noong 2024, nakapulong niya si Education Undersecretary Trygve Olaivar para pag-usapan ang unprogrammed appropriations na sinasabing nakaukol para sa Office of the Executive Secretary (OES).

Sinabi ni Bernardo na humirit sa kanya si Olaivar ng 15-percent cut mula sa P2.85 bilyong halaga ng infrastructure projects para sa tanggapan ni Bersamin, sabay sabing ang ‘agreed commission’ ay inihatid sa iba’t ibang lokasyon sa Metro Manila.

“I deny the imputation contained in the sworn statement of DPWH Undersecretary Bernardo submitted to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee about the delivery of an ‘agreed 15 percent commitment’ supposedly for the Office of the Executive Secretary,” ang sinabi ni Bersamin sa isang kalatas.

“In the first place, the OES has no involvement in any way with budgetary allocations relevant to the DPWH,” aniya pa rin.

Winika pa rin ni Bersamin na ang kanyang tanggapan ay hindi kailanman nakipag-deal kay Bernardo o kay Olaivar, tinuran pa rin niya na ang alegasyon ay pinabulaanan na ng Education official.

Inilarawan niya ang akusasyon bilang isang pagtatangka na wasakin ang kanyang reputasyon.

“I stand by my untarnished record as a long-serving public servant, first as a career judicial officer, and now as the Executive Secretary,” ani Bersamin. (Daris Jose)
