Ferry, bus operators, nangakong hindi magtataas ng pamasahe ngayong Semana Santa

SINABI ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na nangako ang mga ferry at bus operators na hindi sila magtaaas ng pamasahe ngayong Semana Santa sa gitna ng kasalukuyang hamon sa enerhiya.
Sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos na sinusubukan ng gobyerno na pagaanin ang epekto ng pagtaas ng presyo ng fuel sa mga manananakay at middle class, habang papalapit ang paggunita sa Holy Week sa bansa, kung saan dagsa ang mga taong inaasahan na ba-byahe.
“We’ve gotten commitments from ferries that they will not raise their fares, we’re doing the same thing with buses that they will not raise their fares and they do not limit or cut down the trips they will be taking,” ayon sa Pangulo.
“We’re doing everything we can so the riding public, the general public, the people who are working, the middle class, they are the ones we are most concerned about, so it does not become a drag to their livelihood,” aniya pa rin.
At nang tanungin kung ano ang magiging tugon ng gobyerno sa adjustments sa fuel prices, winika ng Pangulo na ang gobyerno ay nagbibigay ng subsidiya, pangunahin na sa transport sector “because these are the workers who will be most affected.”
Sinabi ng Pangulo na ang fuel subsidies at straight-out cash subsidies ay iaabot sa mga operators at drivers ng mga barko, buses, public transport, at delivery systems para pagaanin ang epekto ng pagtaas ng fuel prices sa mga consumer.
“In the next two days, we’re going to be spending about 2.5 billion pesos in fuel subsidies. We have planned four of those rounds of subsidies.”
Nauna rito, nilagdaan ni Pangulong Marcos ang Executive Order 110 na nagdedeklara ng state of national energy emergency, kasama ang Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport o UPLIFT na magsisilbing kabuuang balangkas ng pagtugon ng pamahalaan sa epekto ng mataas na presyo ng produktong petrolyo.
