Mahigpit na screening para sa mga miyembro ng flood works probe commission – Malakanyang

ISASALANG sa strict screening ang mga miyembro ng independent commission na nakatakdang likhain para imbestigahan ang flood control projects upang masiguro na walang kinikilingan at may kredibilidad.

“This independent commission will be under the executive. They will investigate all documents and complaints and recommend cases to the proper agencies. If government officials are involved, the cases will definitely go to the Ombudsman,” ayon kay Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro sa press briefing sa Malakanyang.

“Ang mga miyembro po dapat nito ay talagang independent at hindi pamumulitika ang gagawin,”ang dagdag na pahayag ni Castro.

Nauna rito, kinumpirma ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na isang executive order (EO) ang isinasapinal para magtatag ng body, kanyang inilarawan bilang “investigative arm” ng gobyerno na haharap sa korapsyon Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“They will investigate it. And they will make recommendations as to what—how to proceed, whether kasuhan itong mga ito or i-Ombudsman o dalhin sa DOJ,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos.

Ani Pangulong Marcos, hindi pa naisasapinal ang komposisyon ng body ngunit malamang ay kabilang dito ang forensic investigators, ang mga piskal, abogado, at retired justice upang matiyak ang integridad at kakyahan na rebyuhin ang ga kontrata at reklamo.

Ang paglikha ng komisyon ay matapos magbitiw sa puwesto si Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan, na bumaba sa puwesto sa ilalim ng ‘principle of command responsibility’ kasunod ng iregularidad sa multibillion-peso flood control projects. ( Daris Jose)
