Mga ospital, evacuation centers prayoridad para sa power restoration- DOE

IPINAG-UTOS ng Department of Energy (DOE) na iprayoridad ang ‘power restoration at maintenance activities’ sa mga mahahalagang lugar gaya ng mga ospital at evacuation centers habang nananalasa ang Tropical Depression Dante sa pinaigting na ulan nito bitbit ng southwest monsoon (habagat).

Sa isinagawang miting ng inter-agency Task Force on Energy Resiliency (TFER), inatasan ni Energy Secretary Sharon Garin ang Manila Electric Company (Meralco) na tumulong na tiyakin ang power supply, lalo na sa apat na ospital na tinukoy bilang ‘vulnerable’ sa matinding pagbaha.

Ang mga ospital na ito ay ang San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital sa Malabon, Tondo Medical Center sa Maynila, Valenzuela Medical Center, at Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center sa Marikina.

Ipinag-utos naman ni Garin sa Electric Power Industry Management Bureau (EPIMB) ng DoE na makipag-ugnayan sa Meralco “to conduct site inspections of the four high-risk hospitals and provide technical assistance to improve their flood-related electrical resiliency.”

Inatasan ang Meralco na tumulong na magbigay ng kailangang power supply sa Roman Tantiongco Memorial Elementary School sa Sitio Wawa, Barangay San Juan sa Morong, Rizal, ngayon ay ginagamit bilang isang evacuation center at nangangailangan ng isang generator set.

Upang masiguro na sapat ang fuel supply sa Metro Manila, hiniling naman sa Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) na tumulong na siguraduhin na ang tollways ay hindi magiging sagabal para sa paghahatid ng mga kakailanganing suplay mula sa storage facilities sa Subic, sa Zambales at Bataan.

Pinakilos naman ang National Electrification Administration (NEA) para imonitor at i-validate ang power status sa mga lugar na apektado ng weather disturbances.

“Off-grid areas were also checked and are continuously being monitored, including small communities that may face limited access to emergency services,” ayon sa DoE.

Pinaalalahanan naman ang National Power Corporation’s (Napocor) dam operations unit na magkaroon ng “proof of its compliance with existing dam spilling protocols, including but not limited to visual documentation that upholds safety thresholds.” (Daris Jose)
