PBBM, dumating na sa Estados Unidos para makapulong si Trump

DUMATING na si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa Washington, DC, araw ng Lunes, alas- 2:48 ng madaling araw (Manila time).

Nakatakdang makapulong ni Pangulong Marcos si US President Donald Trump sa White House.

Nakatakda ring bisitahin ni Pangulong Marcos ang Pentagon para makapulong naman si Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Sinabi ni Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez na nakatakdang pag-usapan nina Pangulong Marcos at Trump ang ‘defense at security.’

“Essentially, it’s really the reaffirmation of all these agreements that we have with the United States specifically surrounding the Mutual Defense Treaty. So, it will be more on discussions on how we can continue to cooperate with the United States, our major ally.” ayon kay Romualdez.

Inaasahan din na tatalakayin sa pulong ang sitwasyon sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

“At the same time, I think President Marcos would like to see how we can work with the United States and other countries that have the same mindset as far as the West Philippine Sea is concerned. So, it will be on those general subjects of discussion,” ang pahayag ni Romualdez.

Nakatakda ring makapulong ng Chief Executive ang mga business leaders.

“Generally, he’ll be talking to semiconductor industry which is very important for us. One of our biggest industries that we’re having economic ties with the United States. I think the President of the Semiconductor Association will be meeting with the President,” ang sinabi pa rin ni Romualdez.

“And then we have other business leaders particularly those who have already invested in the Philippines or planning to expand their investments in the healthcare,” dagdag na pahayag ni Romualdez sabay sabing pati ang mga grupo na interesado na i-develop ang Luzon Economic Corridor ay dadalo sa miting.

Sa kabilang dako, inaasahan din na pag-uusapan nina Pangulong Marcos at Trump ang 20% taripa sa Philippine goods na pumapasok sa Estados Unidos.

Umaasa naman ang Piipinas na mauuwi sa isang trade agreement na kapaki-pakinabang kapuwa sa dalawang bansa

Sinabi ni Romualdez na wala naman sa agenda ng miting ang kontrobersiyal na immigration policy ni Trump.

Samantala, tinatayang may 3,772 Pinoy na tukoy ng US Immigration and Customs Enforcement na hindi naman naka-ditine subalit “with final orders of removal.”
