PBBM, tutuloy at mamamalagi sa makasaysayang Blair House sa panahon ng summit kasama si Trump sa DC

TUTULOY at mamamalagi si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa makasaysayang Blair House sa kabilang panig ng White House sa Pennsylvania Avenue sa panahon ng three-day visit sa Washington para sa kanyang first-ever meeting kay US President Donald Trump bago matapos ang buwan, ayon kay Foreign Affairs Secretary Theresa Lazaro, araw ng Lunes.

“The famous residence is the official guest house of the US President for visiting heads of state and other dignitaries and has hosted notable world leaders, including Queen Elizabeth II and Nelson Mandela,” ayon sa White House website.

“Heads of states and governments are usually invited to the guest house “at the pleasure of the President,” dagdag nito.

Ang Blair House ay nagsisilbi rin bilang pansamantalang tahanan ng president-elect bago pa ang inauguration ceremonies bilang paghahanda sa magiging galaw ng administrasyon sa White House.

“Just wanted to say that it is President Trump who invited President Marcos to this meeting and probably the first if I am correct the first among the ASEAN leaders who have been invited by the president to the White House. It is an official visit, but he will be staying in the presidential guest house, the Blair House, so that means something,” ang sinabi naman ni Lazaro sa isang panayam.

Sa kabilang dako, sinabi naman ni Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez, na ang official working visit ni Pangulong Marcos ay ipinaalam sa Philippine Embassy sa Washington na may kasamang imbitasyon para sa Pangulo na manatili sa Blair House.

Sa kabilang dako, ang Blair House complex ay mayroong humigit-kumulang na 109 na kuwarto, kabilang na ang 15 guest rooms, ang bawat isa ay mayroong full bathroom, tatlong formal dining rooms, dalawang malaking conference rooms, isang hot and cold kitchen, isang beauty salon, isang exercise room, at isang in-house laundry facility.

Samantala, isinasapinal pa ang detalye ng summit sa pagitan nina Pangulong Marcos at Trump, ayon kay Lazaro subalit ang ‘defense and security’ sa gitna ng umiigting na agresyon ng tsino sa pinagtatalunang South China Sea, US tariffs at economic cooperation ay malamang na makasama sa kanilang talakayan. (Daris Jose)
