Bagong Caticlan terminal, magpapalakas sa turismo, ekonomiya- PBBM

PINANGUNAHAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., araw ng Lunes ang groundbreaking at time capsule laying para sa konstruksyon ng bagong Caticlan Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) sa Caticlan Airport sa Aklan.

Pinuri ito bilang pangunahing hakbang na ayusin ang regional connectivity, turismo, at paglago ng ekonomiya.

“We are slowly putting together the building blocks of our policy of opening up our areas, tourist areas, our business areas, to international travelers without having to go through the Manila airport,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos sa isinagawang seremonya sa Caticlan Airport.

Matatagpuan sa munisipalidad ng Malay sa northern Aklan, Caticlan Airport nagsisilbi bilang ‘most direct at practical access point’ sa Boracay Island.

Sa kabilang dako, sa naging talumpati ng Pangulo, binigyang diin nito ang kahalagahan ng ‘bypassing congestion’ sa Maynila sa pamamagitan ng regional airport development, winika ang isinasagawang pag-upgrade sa Iloilo, Bohol, at Siargao.

“Although Manila airport is improving… it would be much easier for our tourists or for any travelers na diretso na sila dito sa Caticlan,” ayon sa Pangulo sabay sabing “The influx of people, of travelers, is going to be a big boost to the local economy. And I might add, the national economy.”

Inalala naman nito ang kanyang personal na karanasan sa pagbisita sa Boracay at inilarawan ang lantsang pantawid bilang isang hindi malilimutang bahagi ng kanyang pagbyahe at isang mahalagang bahagi ng karanasan.

“Tourism currently contributes close to 8 percent of the Philippines’ gross domestic product (GDP),” ayon sa Pangulo.

Aniya pa, ang infrastructure projects gaya ng Caticlan terminal ay mahalaga para maitaas ang pigura sa pamamagitan na gawing madali ang pagbyahe at mas ‘enjoyable’ para sa mga bisita.

“This is one step… the beginning of the journey, and that journey is to bring the Philippines once again to the forefront of the rest of the world,”anito.

“[That] this is a place where people can invest, this is a place where people can come to have a vacation, [and that] this is a place where the businessmen can come and do business,” aniya pa rin.
