Protesta sa ginawang pagbinbin ng impeachment complaint, panawagan ni Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares

NANAWAGAN si Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares sa publiko na mag-protesta sa ginawang pagbinbin ng impeachment complaint at iginiit sa senado na mag-convene sa June 21.

Ayon kay Colmenares, kahit naka-adjourned ang ang senado bilang legislative body ay maaarin itong mag-convene bilang Impeachment court dahil hindi naman legislative body ang korte.

 “Clearly, not only the Constitution but even their own rules differentiated the impeachment court from the legislative function of the Senate even suspending the Senate’s legislative business during impeachment trials.  Additionally, Rule 3 of the same Senate Rules commanded that “Upon presentation of the articles to the Senate, the Senate shall specify the date and time for the consideration of such articles. Unless the Senate provides otherwise, it shall continue in session from day to day xxx until final judgment shall be rendered, and so much longer as may, in its judgment, be necessary.” pahayag ni Colmenares na nagsilbing public prosecutor noong impeachment trial ni dating Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Dahil inatasan na rin ang OVP ng Impeachment Court nitong June 11, 2025 na magsumite ng sagot sa loob ng non-extendible period na 10 araw, ay dapat na mag-convene ang konrte sa June 21 upang tanggapin ito at simulan ang trial.

Hinikayat naman ni Colmenares ang kamara na agad sagutin ang kautusan ng impeachment court.

“The House should immediately reply to the order of the impeachment court asserting that the complaint did not violate the Constitution and that it is willing and ready to prosecute it and appear before the impeachment court on June 21,” payo ni Colmenares.

 Kung hindi aniya ito gagawin ng kamara ay baka sabihin ng ilang senador na ang malaking kapulungan ang siyang nagdiskaril sa impeachment sa pamamagitan ng hindi pagtugon at pagsunod sa kautusan.

“The House should throw the ball back to the Senate challenge the Senators to convene as an impeachment court on June 21”.,”pahayag nito.

Hinikayat pa ni Colmenares ang mamamayan, hindi lamang sa Metro-Manila kundi maging sa probinsiya sa buong bansa na magsagawa ng protest actions upang hikayatin ang senado na mag-convene sa June 21 upang magsimula na ang trial.
