Uniting Against Dengue: Inaugural Dengue Summit Aims to Drive National Action

LAST June 25, 2024 marked a historic moment as health leaders, policymakers, researchers, and advocates nationwide convened for the inaugural Dengue Summit at the Manila Diamond Hotel.
The summit, a collaborative effort led by the Philippines Medical Association (PMA), the Philippines College of Physicians (PCP), and the Philippine Pediatric Society, Inc (PPS), aims to galvanize a national action against the urgent public health posed by dengue fever.
With a resolute commitment to achieving
“Zero Dengue Death by 2030” in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3, the Dengue Summit aims to drive transformative change through enhanced collaboration among key stakeholders. While current vector control methods have shown it’s effectiveness, the summit emphasized the crucial role of integrating innovative interventions such as vaccination into a holistic dengue management framework alongside robust surveillance systems, enhanced healthcare infrastructure, and active community engagement to decisively combat dengue in the Philippines.

The Aedes mosquito, a small yet formidable creature, carry es the menacing threat of dengue fever- a ruthless disease that shows no mercy. The rising number of dengue cases serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for a unified front in the battle against this disease.
