WALANG ARTIFICIAL power crisis sa bansa sa kabila ng halos araw-araw na ang red at yellow alerts na idineklara sa Luzon at Visayas grids.

Sinabi pa ni Pangulong Marcos na patuloy na mino-monitor ng gobyerno ang suplay ng kuryente sa bansa.

Nauna rito, sinabi ng Department of Energy na ang April 2024 unplanned outages sa mahigit 32 power plants ay record-setting, mayroong 1,811 megawatts ng power lost o mahigit sa doble sa nakalipas na average na 700 megawatts ng power supply na nawala mula 2019 hanggang 2023.

Nauna rito, nanawagan ang mga mambabatas sa Kongreso ng masusing imbestigasyon ukol sa red at yellow power alerts sa Luzon at Visayas grids sa gitna ng unplanned outages ng mahigit sa 32 power plants.

“It is imperative to conduct a thorough investigation into the actions of generation companies during plant failures, to determine the extent of their responsibility in the current energy crisis and to hold them accountable for any exploitative practices that harm consumers,” ang sinabi ng mga mambabatas sa House Resolution 1690.

Sinabi ng mga miyembro ng Kongreso na dapat pagtibayin ang batas para iprayoridad ang consumer protection, tugunan ang ugat ng dahilan ng energy crisis, at ipatupad ang mga hakbang na pipigil sa ‘exploitation’ ng power shortages para sa profit o kita.

Samantala, ang mga naghain ng resolusyon ay House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro of ACT party-list, House Assistant Minority Leader Arlene Brosas of Gabriela party-list, at Kabataan party-list lawmaker Raoul Manuel. (Daris Jose)
